(Prom New Zealand Gazette, 1918, pages 919 and 928.) Special Regulations for the Sale of Venison by Nelson
Acclimatization Society. LIVERPOOL, Governor-General
WHEREAS by Warrant dated the first day of February, one thousand nine hundred and eighteen, and published in New Zealand Gazette No. 17, of the seventh day of February, one thousand nine hundred and eighteen, regulations were made prescribing the deer-shooting season
in the Nelson Acclimatization District: And whereas it is deemed expedient to amend the said regulations : Now, therefore, I, Arthur William de Brito Savilo, Earl of Liverpool, the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the power and authority vested in me by the Animals Protection Act, 1908, do hereby amend the said regulations in manner following.
REGULATIONS
(1.) The Secretary of the Nelson Acclimatization Society may, with the authority of such society, authorize the sale, either by auction or otherwise, during the period Ist March, 1918, to 30th April, 1918 (both days inclusive), of the meat and skins of deer taken and killed pursuant to the regulations of Ist February, 1918, provided that the proceeds derived from such sale shall be devoted to patriotic purposes. (2.) The said Secretary shall, on or before the 15th day of May, 1918, furnish a statement of the moneys received from such sale, and of the patriotic purpose or purposes to which such moneys were devoted. (3.) Any person who commits a breach of any of the provisions of these regulations shall be liable to a penalty not exceeding £2O.

Military Detention Barracks
WHEREAS the police - gaol hitherto established at Wanganui has ceased, by Proclamation of the sth day of March, 1916, to be a police-gaol: And whereas it is desirable to declare it to be a detention barrack under and for the purposes of the regulations made under the Defence Act, 1909, on the 6th day of March, 1918: Now, therefore, pursuant to the provisions of the said regulations, I, James Allen, Minister of Defence for the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby declare the buildings hitherto used as a police-gaol at Wanganui, together with the land appurtenant thereto, and hitherto used aud occupied in connection therewith, to be a detention barrack for the purposes of the Army Act within the meaning and for the purposes of the said regulations. Dated at Wellington this 26th day of March, 1918.
