From the New Zealand Expeditionary Force. Helensville.— Edward Kay, failing to parade for medical examination: The following further description is supplied by the Helensville police: Age about forty-two, height about 5 ft. 6 in., labourer and surfaceman, stout build, dark moustache, hair, and complexion, brown eyes, full round face ; defective sight; left eye has a watery appearance. Newton.— l6th March last, on military warrant for deserting from Quarantine Island, Leo Augustus South, age twenty-seven, height 5 ft. 6in., labourer and seaman, native of New Zealand, medium build, dark oomplexion, light-brown hair, blue eyes; Eagle, flag, flowers, and “ Liberty ”on right upper arm; tombstone inscribed, “ Mermory Jane,” emblem of Faith, Hope, and Charity, and “May” on right forearm; woman on left upper arm; woman’s head and snake on left forearm. Masterton. John Hickey, failing to parade for medical examination: It has been ascertained by the Wellington police that accused left this Dominion for Australia by the s.s. “Riverina” on the 27th July, 1916. (See Police Qazettte, 1918, page 10.)
