Restricting Shooting Season for Paradise Duck.

LIVERPOOL', Governor-General

JN pursuance of the powers vested in me by the Animals Protection Act, 1908, I, Arthur William de Brito Savile, Earl of Liverpool, the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby notify that paradise duck (Casarca variegata), a bird indigenous to the said Dominion of New Zealand, may be taken or killed in the Otago Acclimatization District and in the Southland Acclimatization District for a period of one month from the first day of May, one thousand nine hundred and eighteen, to the thirty-first day of May, one thousand nine hundred and eighteen, both days inclusive: Provided that the number of the said paradise duck which may be taken or killed in the said acclimatization districts by any one person in any one day during the said period shall not exceed twenty birds.

As witness the hand of His Excellency the GovernorGeneral, this ninth day of January, one thousand nine hundred and eighteen.

RESOLUTION. THE following regulations were laid before the members of the Northern Wairoa Racing Club at a meeting held on the 7th day of December, 1917, at Dargaville, with a recommendation by the Chairman of the Club, Mr. Dargaville, that the same be passed at once with a view to their approval by the Governor-General, in pursuance of the Gaming Act, 1908, section 33. Mr. F. J. Dargaville, the Chairman of the Club and the Meeting, moved, and Mr. W. B. Giesen seconded, and it was resolved, that such regulations should be adopted, and that the Chairman be authorized to sign the same in authentication thereof.

The following are the regulations referred to :

NORTHERN WAIROA RACING CLUB

Regulations. (Under the Gaming Act, 1908).

In pursuance and exercise of the powers in that behalf contained in section 33 of the Gaming Act, 1908, and of all other powers and authorities it enabling in that behalf, the Northern Wairoa Racing Club, a racing club within the meaning of the

said Act (hereinafter referred to as “ the said club ”), doth hereby make the following regulations controlling the admission of persons to that part of the reserve situate at Awakino, Dargaville, set apart for racing purposes, and known as Awakino Racecourse, as the same is described in the Gaming Act, 1910, while the said racecourse is used or occupied by the said club for race meetings. 1. In these regulations the words “ bookmaker,” “ racing club,” and “ race meeting ” shall have the meanings ascribed to those terms by section 2 of the Gaming Act, 1908. 2. The following persons shall be and are hereby excluded from the part of the said Awakino Reserve while the same is used or occupied by the said club for a race meeting, namely,— (a.) Bookmakers. (b.j All persons under disqualification inflicted by any racing club in the Dominion of New Zealand, the Commonwealth of Australia, or elsewhere, if affiliated to the New Zealand Racing Conference.

(c.) Common prostitutes, and persons who habitually consort with thieves or with persons who have no lawful visible means of support.

The foregoing regulations of the Northern Wairoa Racing Club were made and passed by the members of the said club on the 7th day of December, 1917, and signed by the Chairman and Secretary. F. J. Mr. J. R. Whyte, the Chairman of the Club and the Meeting, moved, and Mr. H. G. Hammond seconded, and it was resolved, that such regulations should be adopted, and that the Chairman be authorized to sign the same in authentication thereof. The following are the regulations referred to : FOXTON RACING CLUB.

The following persons shall be and are hereby excluded from the part of the said Foxton Racecourse Reserve while the same is used or occupied by the said club for a race meeting, namely,— (a.) Harley, the Chairman of the Meeting, moved, and Mr. D. McKay seconded, and it was resolved, that such regulations should be adopted, and that the Chairman be authorized to sign same in authentication thereof. The following are the regulations referred to : GREYMOUTH TROTTING CLUB. Regulations. (Under the Gaming Act, 1908.)

In pursuance and exercise of the powers in that behalf contained in section 33 of the Gaming Act, 1908, and of all othfer powers and authorities enabling it in that behalf, the Greymouth Trotting Club, a racing club within the meaning of the said Act (hereinafter referred to as “the said club”), doth hereby make the following regulations controlling the admission of persons to that part of the club property situate in the District of Westland, and known as the Victoria Park, whilst the said Victoria Park is used or occupied by the said club for race meetings. 1. In these regulations the words “ bookmaker,” “ racing club,” and “race meeting” shall have the meanings ascribed bo those terms by section 2 of the Gaming Act,'l9oß. 2. The following persons shall be and are hereby excluded from the racecourse above described while the same is used or occupied by the said club for a race meeting, namely,— (a.) Bookmakers. (b.) All persons under disqualification inflicted by any racing club in the Dominion of New Zealand, the Commonwealth of Australia, or elsewhere, if affiliated to the New Zealand Trotting Conference. (c.) Common prostitutes, and persons who habitually consort with thieves or with persons who have no lawful visible means of support. REEFTON JOCKEY CLUB. Regulations. (Under the Gaming Act, 1908.)

In pursuance and exercise of the powers in that behalf contained in section 33 of the Gaming Act, 1918, and of all other powers and authorities it enabling in that behalf, and with the approval of the Governor-General, the Reefton Jockey Club, a racing club within the meaning of the said Act (hereinafter referred to as “ the said club ”), doth hereby make the following regulations controlling the admission of

persons to that part of the freehold ground situate in the District of Greymouth, and known as the Reefton Racecourse, while the said racecourse is used or occupied by the said club for race meetings. 1. In these regulations the words “ bookmaker,” “ racing club,” and “ race meeting ” shall have the meanings ascribed to those terms by section 2 of the Gaming Act, 1908. 2. The following persons shall be and are hereby excluded from the racecourse above described while the same is used or occupied by the said club for a race meeting, namely,— (a.) Bookmakers. (6.) All persons under disqualification inflicted by any racing club in the Dominion of New Zealand, the Commonwealth of Australia, or elsewhere, if affiliated to the Racing Conference of New Zealand. (c.) Common prostitutes, and persons who habitually consort with thieves or with persons who have no lawful visible means of support.

The foregoing regulations of the Reefton Jockey Club were made and passed by the Reefton Jockey Club on the Ist day of November, 1915, and signed by the Chairman and Secretary. B. P. J. Traynor, that the same be passed at once with a view to their approval by the Governor-General, in pursuance of the Gaming Act, 1908, section 33.

Mr. Traynor, the Chairman of the Club at the meeting, moved, and Mr. McClinchey seconded, and it was resolved, that such regulations should be adopted, and that the Chairman be authorized to sign the same in authentication thereof.

The following are the regulations referred to : WYNDHAM RACING CLUB.
