THE following regulations were laid before the members of the Auckland Trotting Club at a meeting held on the twenty-ninth day of August, 1917, at Auckland, with a recommendation by the Chairman of the Club, Mr. S. C. Caulton, that the same be passed at once with a view to their approval by His Excellency the Governor-General of New Zealand, in pursuance of the Gaming Act, 1908, section 33. Mr. S. C. Caulton, the Chairman of the Club and of the Meeting, moved, “ That it be and hereby is resolved that such regulations be adopted, and that the Chairman be authorized to sign the same in authentication thereof.” The motion was seconded by Mr. C. S. H. McKinney, and carried. The following are the regulations referred to : AUCKLAND TROTTING CLUB. Regulations. (Under the Gaming Act, 1908.) In pursuance and exercise of the powers in that behalf contained in section 33 of the Gaming Act, 1908, and of all other powers and authorities it enabling in that behalf, the Auckland Trotting Club, a trotting club within the meaning of the said Act (hereinafter referred to as “ the said club ”), doth hereby make the following regulations controlling the admission of persons to that part of the racecourse situate at Epsom and

set apart for racing purposes, and known as the Alexandra Park Racecourse, while the same is used or occupied by the said club for race meetings. 1. In these regulations the words “ bookmaker,” “ trotting club,” and “ race meeting ” shall have the meanings ascribed to those terms by section 2 of the Gaming Act, 1908. 2. The following persons shall be and are hereby excluded from the said racecourse while the same is used or occupied by the said club for race meetings, namely : (a.) Bookmakers. ( b .) All persons under disqualification inflicted by any trotting club in the Dominion of New Zealand, the Commonwealth of Australia, or elsewhere, if affiliated to the New Zealand Trotting Association. (c.) Common prostitutes, and persons who habitually consort with thieves or with persons who have no lawful visible means of support. The foregoing regulations of the Auckland Trotting Club were made and adopted by the said club at its meeting held on the twenty-ninth day of August, 1917, and signed by S. C. IT is hereby notified for public information that subjects of allied or neutral countries proceeding to China will not be admitted to that country unless they have in their possession passports with 4 in. photographs of the holder attached thereto, signed by Chinese Ministers or Consuls, and stamped with seals of Legations or Consulates. The Consulate fee for vise and attachment of seal is ss. The Consulate in New Zealand for the Republic of China is Mr. Yue H.
