Auckland. —13th ultimo, from a bedroom at the Carlton Club Hotel, Newmarket, the property of CHARLOTTE LECKY, a gentlemen’s silver hunting Waltham or Rotherhams watch ; value, £5. Identifiable.

Auckland.— Between the 23rd and 28th ultimo, the property of GEORGE DOUGHTY AND CO., Wellington, a pair of gentlemen’s box-calf Derby fronted boots, size 6 ; two pairs of gentlemen’s box - calf Derby fronted boots, size 7, “ 304 ” inside of each, “Royalty” in a circle and

“George Doughty & Co.” on soles; four pairs of gentlemen’s and a pair of boys’ (size 4) chrome Derby riveted boots, black tags with yellow edges; two pairs of ladies’ glace-kid boots with patent-leather toe-caps, sizes 6 and 7, “ No. 432 ” inside of tops, canvas-lined with mauve at tops; eight pairs of girls’ chroma one-bar shoes (two sizes each of 7,8, 9, 10); a pair of ladies’ goloshes ; and two Nugget outfits : total value, £l2 10s. 4d. The articles were stolen from five cases between Wellington and Auckland.

Newmarket. —On or about the 19th ultimo, from a shed in Bell Road, Remuera, the property of JOSEPH. TANNER, a set of silver-mounted pony gig-harness, with a leather saddle-cloth with a white rim, throat-strap missing from bridle, collar, girth, and one trace repaired; total value, £5 ss. Identifiable.

Otahuhu. —6th instant, from a vest in tbe Star Hotel billiard-room, the property of FAIRFAX MORESBY MITCHELL QUINTALL, a rolled-gold bunting Waltham watch, No. 292645 (similar to illustration No 2 in Police. Gazette, 1911, page 1), “XX” scratched on inside of outer case; value, £lO. Identifiable.

Waihi.—On the L4th instant, R. W. WYNYARD AND CO.’S shop in Seddon Street was broken into, and the following property stolen therefrom : A 22-calibre six-chamber double - action revolver ; two 32 - calibre six - chamber double-action revolvers, makers “Young America”; and a 22-calibre bolt-action pea-rifle, No. B 338 : total value, £2 10s. Pea-rifle only identifiable. Suspicion is attached to Two Men (names unknown). Description : First, age about forty, height 5 ft. 10 in., medium build ; second, short stout build, full face ; wearing a grey soft-felt hat.

Hamilton.— lst instant, from Ward Street, the property of EDWARD EXLEY, land agent, a gentlemen’s blackenamelled low-framed bicycle, straight handles (one grip missing), rat-trap pedals, home-made greenhide saddle, with large copper rivets in it and a row of holes at each side, and parcel-carrier attached ; value £2 10s. Identifiable.

Hastings. —Between the Ist and 4th instant, the schoolhouse and school at Te Hauke was broken into, and the following articles, the property of IRENE MEYER, stolen therefrom : A Kaiapoi rug, brown with yellow stripes on one side and brown with blue stripes on the other, with “ M.H.” in yellow in one corner; four white pillow-slips ; two white towels; 1 sheet; a hammer, with “ C.M.” on it; four table-knives; two spoons ; three forks; a black-tweed skirt; a silk blouse; two white duchess-runners; three doylies; two tray-cloths; and a light-coloured dress : total value, £5 ss. 6d. Identifiable.

Porangahau. THOMAS GARDINER’S money, &c., stolen : Thomas Davidson has been located and searched by the Porangahau police, but no evidence resulted. (See Police Gazette, 1917, page 311.)

Masterton. —Between the 4th and 16th April last, the property of HENRY HADLEY, bootmaker, five pairs of ladies’ shoes ; a pair of boys’ boots ; a pair of glace-kid shoes, pug toes, size 6; a pair of chrome Derby shoes; three pairs of box-calf shoes, sizes 3,4, and 6 ; and a pair of boys’ Derby boots, size 13, all branded “ Suckling Bros.” on soles : total value, £4 10s. 3d. The above property was stolen from a case between Ghristchurch and Masterton, consigned by Suckling Bros., Christchurch.

Mount Cook. —lßth ultimo, from a tent at the Garrison Hall, Buckle Street, the property of WILLIAM WITHY, 10 Milton Street, a pair of large black field-glasses, twenty, five-mile range, loose at ends; value, £5. Identifiable.

Mount Cook. —On or about the Ist instant, from 203 Cuba Street, the property of GEORGE EVANS, a gentlemen’s heavy woollen double-breasted slate-coloured overcoat, with straps on cuffs; value, £3. Identifiable. Suspicion is attached to E. McKay, age about thirty, height oft. Bin., bootmaker, slim build, dark hair, complexion, and eyes, clean-shaved.

Mount Cook. —3lst ultimo, from the People’s Palace Private Hotel, Cuba Street, the property of GEORGE FREDERICK TAYLOR, a gentlemen’s heavy dark-grey-tweed double-breasted overcoat, with raised seams, lighttweed lining, tag broken, two side pockets with flaps (one with a small inlet) ; a dark-green morocco-leather cigarcase; and a railway guide: total value, £3 10s. Identifiable.

Kaikoura. —31st ultimo, from PATRICK CANNON’S office, a cheque for £3 135., No. 208018, drawn by S. Andrew on the Bank of New Zealand, Kaikoura, in favour of P. Cannon; a cheque for £3 Is., No. 208581, drawn by Clauerly Smith on the Bank of New Zealand, Kaikoura, in favour of P. Cannon; two £5 notes ; seven £1 notes and ss. in silver; two tourist tickets, Nos. 317 and 318 (single series); two return tickets, Nos. 150 and 151 (tourist series) ; a gaol pass for “Ellis ” ; a single ticket, Kaikoura to Ward (Tourist Department) ; three passes for Goodall and Brookes Bros.; and a requisition for Medical Board, Parnassus to Kaikoura: total value, £39 17s. 9d. Identifiable except money.

Lyttelton. —E. HALL and R. G. TODD’S property stolen: The suspect, “ Norman,” has been interviewed and his effects searched by the Lyttelton police, but no evidence resulted. He is identical with Joseph Nohra, alias Sorensen, alias Soloman, 'referred to in Police Gazette, 1917, page 224. (See Police Gazette, 1916, pages 490 and 510.)

Mornington. —Between the 12th and 14th ultimo, MAR GARET ANN McMILLAN’S store, Eglington Road, was broken into, and the following property stolen therefrom : Two sovereigns, three half-sovereigns, 7s. 6d. in silver and coppers, and a Post Office Savings-bank box, containing about £4 in mixed silver: total value, about £7 17s. 6d.
