PERSONS WANTED.

Auckland.— 24th March last, on warrant for failing to comply with the terms of a maintenance order for the support of her child, Sarah Power, an inmate of Auckland Industrial School, Carrie Power, age forty-two, height 5 ft., prostitute, native of New Zealand, medium build, dark complexion, dark-brown hair, grey eyes, scar on left side of neck, hair on upper lip. Arrears to 7th June, 1915 (when charge ceased), £ls 4s. 6d. (See Police Gazette, 1914, page 474.)

Napier.— 3lst March last, on warrant for theft of a horse (recovered), value £ls, the property of Matthew Regan, Kuripapango, Man (name unknown), age about thirty, height about sft. Sin., slight build, copper complexion, black hair, brown eyes ; dressed in brown ridingbreeches, brown leggings, brown coat, and black slouch hat. He is supposed to be a Maori, and he speaks good English. (See Unclaimed Property, this issue.)

Napier.— 2Bth ultimo, on warrant of commitment to Napier Prison for seven days in default of paying £1 35., fine and costs for drunkenness, John Kinley, age fiftytwo, height 5 ft. 8 in., flax-miller, native of New Zealand, medium build, sallow complexion, grey hair, blue eyes, right ring-finger missing ; usually dressed in a grey suit and hat. Hastings. —sth instant, that proceedings may be instituted against him for failing to notify his change of address in accordance with the provisions of the Military Service Act, 1916, Joseph Smith, age thirty, farm labourer. (No further description available.)

Wanganui. —4th January last, that he miy be compelled to comply with the terms of his release upon probationary license, Alexander McLeod, alias David Alexander McLeod, alias Smith, age fifty-six, height 5 ft. 3fin., farmer, native of Scotland, scar on nose and on right forearm, two scars on left forearm, “ S.H.” on left upper arm. Otaki. —23rd instant, on warrant for false pretences, Thomas Hawthorne (name probably fictitious), age about twenty-five, height about 5 ft. 8 in. bushman, medium build, dark fresh complexion, brown hair, scar under one eye, small dark moustache ; usually dressed in a darkblue suit, white shirt, and black-velour hat; speaks slowly; quiet manner; erect gait; good appearance ; fond of drink. Accused obtained £5 from Elfreda Pearcey, Family Hotel, by falsely representing that wages were owing to him by Mr. Seed, manager of the May Morn Estate. There are other charges pending.

Martinborough. —l4th February last, that proceedings may be instituted against him for failing to notify his change of address in accordance with the provisions of the Military Service Act, 1916, William Burnard Pearce, age forty-two, height about 5 ft. 8 in., labourer, strong build, fair complexion, brown hair, one shoulder injured.

Wellington. — 24th March last, for a breach of the War Regulations by landing in New Zealand without being in possession of a passport, A. H. Bremer, age forty-two, native of Holland. He was a steward on the s.s. “ Joan Craig,” from which he deserted at Gisborne. (P. 17/754.)

Wellington.— 2sth ultimo, on two warrants of commitment to Wellington Prison for (1) fourteen days in default of paying £2 7s. fine and costs, and (2) fourteen days in default of paying £2 fine and costs, for breaches of his prohibition order, John Hyde, age fifty-five, height 5 ft. BJin., labourer, native of England, medium build, fresh complexion, brown hair, blue eyes, scar on nose and on top of head. (See Police Gazette, 1915, page 102.)

Taranaki Street (Wellington).— 2Bth March last, that proceedings may be instituted against him for failing to notify his change of address in accordance with the provisions of the Military Service Act, 1916, Charles Kenney, age about twenty-one, height 5 ft. 5 in., miner and hotel porter, slight build, dark hair and complexion.

Nelson. — 20th ultimo, that proceedings may be instituted against him for failing to notify hia change of address in accordance with the provisions of the Military Service Act, 1916, John Ward, age twenty-eight, height 5 ft. 9 in., labourer, quarryman, and miner, native of Ireland, fair complexion.

Greymouth. —2sth January last, on warrant of commitment to Greymouth Prison for seven days in default of paying 10s. fine and costs for drunkenness, James Ross, age fifty-three, height 5 ft. 11§ in., labourer and miner, native of Scotland, strong build, fair hair and complexion, blue eyes.

Greymouth. —26th March last, that a notice of fine for 10s. for being found on licensed premises during prohibited hours may be served upon him, Alfred Kirk, age thirtythree, height 5 ft. 7 in., miner and seaman, native of Sweden, stout build, fair hair and complexion, blue eyes, clean-shaved, burn-scars on baok of neck ; usually dressed in a light-grey suit and soft-felt hat.

Greymouth.— l7th instant, on warrant of commitment to Greymouth Prison for forty-eight hours in default of paying 16s. fine and costs for being found on licensed premises during prohibited hours, Edwin Bradshaw, age about thirty, height 5 ft. 5 in., motor-mechanic, native of New Zealand, medium build, fair complexion, dark hair, blue eyes. He claims to be an American. (See Police Gazette, 1917, page 98.)

Greymouth. —24th February last, that a summons for failing to enrol in accordance with the provisions of the Military Service Act, 1916, may be served upon him, Patrick Power, age about thirty, height about 5 ft. 10in., labourer and busbman, native of New Zealand, strong build, dark hair and complexion; usually dressed in a dark suit and cap.

Christchurch. —3rd instant, that a summons for failing to provide for the future maintenance of his unborn illegitimate child may be served upon him, Alex. Russell, age eighteen, height 5 ft., ex-railwayman, native of New Zealand, stout build, fair hair and complexion, blue eyes, thick lips, decayed upper teeth ; usually dressed in a black suit with white stripes, and cap ; a heavy cigarette-smoker ; fond of drink. Complainant, Margaret Emily Barnden, 21 Donegad Street, Belfast.

Christchurch. —22nd instant, on warrant for failing to maintain his wife and ohildren, Albert Richard Allen, age thirty-six, height 5 ft. 6 in., butcher, native of New Zealand, stout build, fair oomplexion, auburn hair going bald, light-blue eyes, good teeth, clean-shaved; usually dressed in a dark suit and felt hat. Complainant, Jane Allen, 10 Short Street, Linwood.

Gore. —Bth March last, on warrant of commitment to Wellington Prison for two months in default of paying £lB 10s. arrears of maintenance due for the support of his son, Alexander Wilson Hogg, an inmate of an industrial school, Robert Alexander Hogg, age thirty-eight, height 5 ft. 8J in., labourer and blacksmith, native of New Zealand, medium build, fair complexion, red hair and moustache, blue eyes; usually dressed in a blue suit and soft-felt bat; deaf; quiet manner; fond of drink. He has a soft voice, and speaks very slowly. Arrears computed to 28r,h November, 1916. (See Police Gazette, 1917, page 113.)

Gore. —llth instant, on warrant for failing to maintain his wife, Henry Frederick Elliott, age forty-five, height 5 ft. 7 in., plumber, native of Australia, slight build, sallow complexion, black hair turning grey, brown eyes, small light-brown moustache; usually dressed in a lightgrey suit and black soft-felt hat. He may be accompanied by Mary Cleaver, age twenty-eight, height 5 ft. 7in., medium build, pale complexion, black hair, cross-eyed ; usually dressed in a black dress. She may have with her a fairhaired boy, about eight years of age. Complainant, Dora Theresa Elliott, Wentworth Street.
