PERSONS WANTED.

Auckland.—l7th ultimo, for indecently assaulting Esme Allen, a girl of the age of five years, Man (name unknown), age about seventeen, height about 5 ft. 8 in., medium build, fair freckled complexion, light-auburn hair, eyes believed to be blue, fresh scar over right eye, one front tooth nearly all gold ; believed to be dressed in a greenish knockerbocker suit, black stockings with a red stripe at top, and a black cap. The accused carried the child among the trees in the Domain, where the offence was committed. Mo warrant.

Auckland.—22nd ultimo, for tbeftof a bicycle (recovered), value £6, the property of Thomas Hilton Hope, 78 VYvndham Street, Thomas Sheehan, age about thirty-five, height 5 ft. 6 in., medium build, fair hair and complexion. The above description is that of a man who sold the bicycle at Cohan’s Pawnshop, Victoria Street, for £2. He is believed to be identical with Thomas Sheehan, referred to in Police Ornette, 1917, page 88. Mo warrant.

Te Kuiti.—6th ultimo, that he may be compelled to pay £5 10s. 6d., ambulance and hospital expenses, Joseph Hill, alias James Hill, age about thirty-seven, height 5 ft. 10 in., labourer, native of England, medium build, fair complexion, clean-shaved, scar on left thigh ; weight 179 lb.; dressed in grey trousers, dirty brown coat, and brown slouch hat.

Wairoa.—On or about the 30th January last on warrant for false pretences, Timothy J. Shannahan, age thirty-six, height 5 ft. 7 in., engineer’s labourer, native of New Zealand, slim build, fair complexion, brown hair, blue eyes, sharp features, clean-shaved. Accused obtained £5 from Joseph Alexander Johnson, barman at the Perry Hotel, by means of a valueless cheque, drawn in favour of himself on the Bank of New South Wales, Napier, and endorsed by John Dinnan.

Hastings.—2nd instant, on warrant of commitment to Napier Prison for fourteen days in default of paying £2 135., fine and costs, for a breach of the Gaining Act, William Dargaville, alias William Scott Dargaville, alias Walter Scott Dargaville, age twenty-six, height 5 ft. 9 in., labourer, native of New Zealand, medium build, dark complexion, black hair, brown eyes, clean-shaved; usually dressed in a dark suit and soft-felt hat. Foxton.—Bth instant, on military warrant for disobeying lawful commands (failing to report for camp) William Adin, age thirty, height sfr,. 7$ in., driver and flaxmill hand, native of New Zealand, dark complexion, dark hair, brown eyes, clean-shaved ; dressed in a navy-blue suit and black soft-felt hat ; weight, 1341 b. If arrested, he is to be handed over to the military authorities.

Foxton.—Bth instant, on military warrant for disobeying lawful commands (failing to report for camp), Henry Adin, age twenty-six, height 5 ft. 10 in., flax-mill hand, native of New Zealand, dark hair and complexion, brown eyes, clean-shaved ; dressed in a navy-blue suit and black bard-felt hat; weight, 1371 b. If arrested, he is to be handed over to the military authorities.

Foxton.—Bth instant, on military warrant for disobeying lawful commands (failingto report for camp), Frederick Adin, age twenty, height sft. Bin., flax-mill hand,

native of New Zealand, dark hair and complexion, brown eyes, clean-shaved; dressed in a navy-blue suit and hardfelt hat; weight, 133 lb. If arrested, he is to be handed over to the military authorities.

Wellington.—6th instant, that he may be located, and proceedings instituted against him under section 33 of the Military Service Act, John Vincent, age about thirtythree, height 5 ft. 11 in., farm labourer, slight build, stooped shoulders, clean-shaved ; usually dressed in a navy-blue suit and tweed cap. He has the appearance of a half-caste Maori.

Wellington.—2lst ultimo, on warrant for being absent from the s.s. “ Northumberland,” without leave, Gibson, height 5 ft. Bin., fireman, native of England, medium build, sallow complexion, fair hair.

Wellington.—2lst ultimo, on warrant for being absent from the s.s. “Northumberland,” without leave Parkins, height 5 ft. 8 in., fireman, native of England, good build, fresh complexion, fair hair, full face.

Christchurch.—2nd May last, on warrant for failing to comply with the terms of a maintenance order for the sup port of his illegitimate child, Joseph McMahon alias Patrick Joseph McMahon, age twenty-three, height 5 ft. 6 in., labourer, native of New Zealand, slight build, fair oomplexion, dark-brown hair, brown eyes, clean-shaved. Offender left New Zealand with the 22nd Reinforcements. Complainant, Maud Lee, 97 Harman Street, Addington. Arrears to 6th ultimo, £7 7s. 6d.

Christchurch.—26th ultimo, that a summons for failing to attend drill may be served upon him, Thomas Cains, age seventeen, height about 5 ft. 10 in., farm labourer and shearer, native of New Zealand, fair complexion, light-brown hair, large blue eyes. This is inserted in lieu of the paragraph appearing on page 128 of this Gazette, where the name supplied was incorrect. (See Police Gazette , 1917, page 128.)

Timaru, —20th ultimo, on military warrant for failing to report at camp, Joseph Mealing, age twenty-eight, height 5 ft. s£in., engineer, fresh complexion, brown hair, blue eyes; weight 10 stone 111 b. If arrested, he is to be handed over to the military authorities.

Dunedin.—-22nd ultimo, on military warrant for failing to report at camp, Patrick Fitzpatrick, age twenty-eight, height 5 ft. 8 in., labourer and carter, native of New Zealand, fresh complexion, curly dark hair, brown eyes, clean-shaved. If arrested, he is" to be handed over to the military authorities.
