PERSONS WANTED.

Auckland.— -19th ultimo, on warrant of commitment to Auckland Prison for two months in default of paying £SO 15s. fine and costs for keeping a gaming-house, Arthur Bernard Byrnes, alias Ormond Arthur Byrne, age twenty-four, height 5 ft. sJin., clerk, native of Australia, medium build, fresh oomplexion, dark hair, blue eyes, scar on left cheek and on throat. (See Police Gazette, 1917, page 22.)

Napier. pretences, Henry Kirsoh, alias James Stevenson, age seventy, height 5 ft. 7Jin., cook, native of Denmark, medium build, fresh oomplexion, fair hair and beard turning grey, grey eyes. He walks as if his feet were sore. Accused obtained £3 15s. from Charles Frederick Bonner, licensee, Terminus Hotel, by means of a valueless cheque for £6, drawn on the Bank of New Zealand, Taihape, and signed by James Stevenson. Hastings.— l3th instant, on warrant of commitment to Napier Prison for forty-eight hours in default of paying £1 3s. fine and costs for drunkenness, John O’Neill, age forty-nine, height 5 ft. 6 in., labourer, native of Ireland, strong build, fresh complexion, brown hair turning grey, blue eyes, tree on right forearm, star on back of right hand, Maltese cross over bracelet on left; wrist, star and flag on left forearm. Pahiatua.— l6th instant, on warrant for breaking into the dwelling of John Andrew Thompson and stealing therefrom about half a bottle of whisky, value 3s. 6d., Thomas Milne, alias Anderson, age thirty-six, height 5 ft. 5§ in.,

labourer and cook, native of New Zealand, medium build, fair complexion, light-brown hair, blue eyes, left leg diseased; usually dressed in a dark - grey - tweed suit and cap ; fond of drink. (See Police. Gazette, 1912, page 85, and Photographs, 1909, page 6.)

Petone. —25th instant, on warrant for failing to maintain his wife, Thomas Herbert Cook, age fifty, height 5 ft. 9 in., labourer and station hand, native of Scotland, stout build, fair hair and complexion, blue eyes, upper teeth artificial; usually dressed in a grey suit and soft-felt hat; erect gait; fond of drink. His photograph is filed in the Superintendent’s Office, Wellington. Complainant, Laura Cook, Elizabeth Street.

Wellington. —27th ultimo, that a summons for a breach of the City By-laws may be served upon him, John Lyons, age about thirty-three, height 5 ft. 9 in., driver, dark complexion, curly black hair, blue eyes, clean-shaved.

Wellington. —Between the 23rd and 25th November last, on warrant for theft of three electric torches (two recovered), and a whistle and a pair of pincers (recovered), total value £1 55., the property of Francis James Fear, bicycle-dealer, Willis Street, Albert Renata Davies, age fifteen, height 5 ft., message-boy, native of New Zealand, medium build, dark hair and complexion, brown eyes. Wellington.-— 23rd instant, on warrant for failing to maintain his wife and two children, Clarence John Evans, age twenty-four, height 5 ft. 9§in., grocer, native of New Zealand, medium build, ruddy complexion, fair hair, bright blue eyes, small pimple on one side of nose, scar on one knee, erect gait, lisps slightly. Complainant, Dorothy Adelina Evans, Buckley Road, Melrose. (See Police Gazette, 1916, page 465.

Wellington. —loth instant, on warrant for failing to comply with the terms of a maintenance order for the support of his wife, Mary Evans, 111 Elizabeth Street, Ernest Clement Evans, age forty-eight, height 5 ft. 11 in., coachbuilder, native of New Zealand, medium build, fair complexion, fair hair turning grey, blue eyes. Arrears to 27th ultimo, £25.

Dtinollie. — 12th ultimo, that a summons for obscene language may be served upon him, Thomas Sparks, alias Thomas James Henry Lewis, age about thirty-two, height 5 ft. 9 in., labourer, native of Australia, slight build, fair freckled complexion, long sandy hair; usually dressed in riding-breeches and puttees, brown-tweed coat, and lightfelt hat; erect gait.

Kumara.—26th October last, that a notice under section 35 of the Military Service Act may be served upon him, Burtie Pfaff, age about forty, height about 5 ft. 9in., labourer and coal-miner, native of New Zealand, medium build, dark complexion, black hair turning grey, blue eyes, dark moustache; usually dressed in a dark cr blue sac suit and black soft-felt hat.

Otiea. —20th ultimo, on warrant of commitment to Greymouth Prison for one month in default of paying £2l 3s. 9d. arrears due on a maintenance order for the support of his illegitimate child, James Bohn, age about thirty-five, height 5 ft. 8 in., labourer, native of Ireland, medium build, fresh complexion, brown hair, clean-shaved ; usually dressed in a blue or black suit and black soft-felt hat ; sullen appearance. Arrears computed to 19th instant.

Christchurch. — James Soro, alias James Wilson, failing to maintain: It has been ascertained by the Ashburton police that accused joined the Australian Expeditionary Force, and is now in France. He assumed the name Smith. (See Police Gazette, 1913, page 380.)

Lawrence. —16th instant, on warrant for false pretences, Christian Lawson, alias Larsen, age twentytwo, height 5 ft. 6 in., farm labourer, native of New Zealand, medium build, dark complexion, hair, and eyes; usually

dressed in a brown suit, black-felt hat, and black boots; smart appearance. Accused, in payment for 198 sheep, tendered to Patrick Tracey, farmer, Evans Flat, a valueless cheque for £215 6s. 6d., drawn on the National Bank of New Zealand, Milton.

Gore. — 19th instant, that a summons for failing to maintain Alexander W. Hogg, an inmate of Weraroa Industrial School, may be served upon him, Robert Alexander Hogg, age thirty-eight, height 5 ft. BJin., blacksmith and farm labourer, native of New Zealand, red hair and moustache ; usually dressed in a blue suit and soft-felt hat ; very deaf; fond of drink; quiet manner. He has a soft voice, and speaks very slowly.

Invercargill. —2sth instant, on warrant for failing to comply with the terms of a maintenance order for the support of his mother, James Campbell, age thirty-three, height 6ft., sawmill hand, native of New Zealand, medium build, fair fresh complexion, fair reddish hair, blue eyes, right eye artificial, small fair moustache, clean shaved, sinews of one hand contracted; usually dressed in a darktweed sac suit and soft-grey felt hat. Arrears to 3rd ultimo, £4 9s. 4d.
