Newton.— On or about the 7th instant, from Mennie’s Reserve, Arch Hili, the property of GEORGE JEFFS, a dark-brown pony gelding, nine years old, 13 hands, long tail, rough mane, scar on near side of head, shod all round ; wearing a canvas cover; value, £l2. Identifiable.

Mount Eden.— 23rd ultimo, from the Auckland Domain, the property of MAERA ERUETA, Mount Eden, a gentlemen’s old bicycle, recently repaired, new mud-guards, turned-down racing-handles, spoke broken in front wheel; and a bag attached, with a waistcoat containing a £1 note and a 10s. note : total value, £6 10s. Bicycle identifiable.

Owen’s Road. —23rd ultimo, from the Auckland Domain, the property of ROBERT FERGUSON, a gentlemen’s freewheel Governor bicycle, Eadie Coaster bub, back-pedalling and front-rim brakes, small dent in rim of front wheel and in top bar, “Phillips” stamped on pedals, Governor saddle; and £2 in notes in tool-bag: total value, £l2. Te Puke. —On or about 28th August last, from Whataroa, the property of THOMAS HEATHERINGTON, a lightdraught bay mare, four years old, about 15 hands, white star on forehead, branded M T on shoulder, unbroken ; a lightdraught bay colt, three years old, loosely built, about 15 bands, white blaze on face, white hind feet, unbroken ; a lightdraught bay oolt, three years old, large star on forehead, white streak on nose, about 15 hands, docked tail, unbroken ; and a light bay filly, one year old : total value, £43. Identifiable.

Carlyle Street (Napier).— l6th ultimo, from outside the Tramway Office, the property of WILLIAM HENDERSON, clerk, a gentlemen’s B.S.A. Raleigh bicycle, No. 383971, straight handles with black grips, new pedal on left side, back pedalling and front-rim brakes, lamp-bracket shaped like R, front mud-guard repaired with a piece of tin ; value, £4. Identifiable.

Hastings.— On orabout 11th instant, from the harness-room at O’Neill’s racing-stables, the property of JAMES SMITH O’NEILL, a 7 lb. Sloan racing-saddle, Land and Heighway make, steel mounts, nearly new, “J. B. A’Deane ” written inside; value, £6 10s. Identifiable. Suspicion is attached to Edward Walsh, age twenty, height about 5 ft. 5 in., ex-jockey, supposed native of New Zealand, slight build, sallow complexion, dark hair; dressed in a dark suit and fawn - felt bat; frequents race meetings. Hastings.— 4th instant, from a bedroom at the Albert Hotel, the property of MILLIE PRISKIE, two £1 notes and 20s. in silver. Not identifiable. Suspicion is attached to Edward Walsh, referred to in preceding and following paragraphs.

Palmerston North.- JAMES CORNISH’S watch-chain and sovereign-case have been recovered by the Wellington police. They were sold by J. Hazel, who is, along with Edward Walsh, suspected of stealing the articles. Description: J. Hazel, age nineteen, height about sft. 4 in., ex-jockey, medium build, pale complexion, fair hair; dressed in a grey suit, soft-felt grey hat with black baud, and black boots with suede tops; about 9 st. weight. His correct name is believed to be Philip Hollings. Edward Walsh, referred to in preceding and following paragraphs. (See Police Gazette, 1916, page 713.)

Wellington. —9th instant, from bedrooms at the Masonic Hotel, a ladies’ 9 ot. gold heavy half-hoop cameo ring, a ladies’ 18 ct. gold ring (set with five opals), and £2 in cash ; total value, £7 10s.; rings identifiable; the property of NELLIE HUMPHREY, waitress: a£s note and 6s. in silver, not identifiable, the property of VERA SMITH, barmaid : and £2 10s. in cash, the property of HENRIETTA O’BRIEN. Suspicion is attached to Robert Carlton Gray and Edward Walsh. Description: First, age twenty-three, height sft. Jin., stableman, native of New Zealand, slight build, dark complexion, brown hair, hazel eyes ; usually dressed in a brown suit, light soft-felt hat with a black band, and tan boots. He was searched by the Wellington police, but none of the stolen property was found in bis possession. (See Police Gazette, 1916, page 422.) Second (for description see preceding paragraphs).

Feilding.— On or about the 16th ultimo, from a motorcar outside the Gentlemen’s Ciub, the property of HUGH ROBERTS, a . grey opossum-rug lined with chocolatecoloured material, and a black, motor-hood ; total value, £ll. Identifiable.

Pahiatua.— On or about 15th ultimo, from the Rutland Hotel, the property of SVEN NILLSON, Eketahuna, a gentlemen’s gold open-face Rotherham’s watch, No. 96994 ;

a gold watch-chain, similar to illustration No. 22 in Police Gazette, 1911, page 2; and a plain gold locket (will hold five sovereigns) with “ S.N.” on it: total value, £32. Identifiable.

Carterton. —28th ultimo, the property of WALTER WADHAM, a gentlemeu’s black-enamelled Sunbeam Special bicycle, 24 in. frame, mud-guards on both wheels, parcelcarrier on back ; value, £B. Identifiable.

Wellington. —2oth ultimo, from outside Bethune’s auc-tion-rooms, the property of W. DIMMOCK AND CO. (LIMITED), a gentlemen’s black enamelled free-wheel Kent bicycle, H. J. Baron, Christchurch, maker, 24in. frame, upturned horn-shaped handles with dark-green grips, backpedalling brake, rat-trap pedals, dent in lower part of frame caused by friction of left crank; value, £4 10s. Identifiable.

Wellington.— 23rd August last, from the person of ST. GEORGE DOWSING, clerk, a gentlemen’s silver open-face dress-watch ; a silver match-box, with “ St. G A D ” in monogram and “Dum Spiro Spero ” on it; and a gold fetter-and-oval watch-chain, with a gold medal with “For Violin, Foster, Wanganui,” on it, attached : total value £B. Indentifiable. The articles were stolen from complainant while he was asleep in a private room in the New-Zealander Hotel.

Wellington.— On or about 4th instant, from outside the premises of GEORGE AND GEORGE, drapers, Cuba Street, a packing-case containing fifteen pieces of Japanese white cotton crepe, each piece 30 yards in length ; three dozen and a half white-silk neglige shirts, sizes 14 to 18; and four dozen and a half white-silk tennis-shirts, with collars attached, sizes 14 to 17: total value, £37 6s. 3d. Identification doubtful.

Wellington.— 4th instant, from outside the General Post Office, the property of LEO SMITH, a gentlemen’s black-enamelled free-wheel Defiance bicycle, No. 464, 24 in. frame, front grip brake, straight handle-bars (one black grip), celluloid mud-guard on front wheel, steel mud-guard on back wheel; value, £4. Blenheim. —On or about 16th instant, between Gisborne and Blenheim, the property of ARTHUR WILLIAM CLARKE, between sixteen and twenty 9 ot. gold ladies’ pendants, some scroll pattern, set with pearls and garnets, others star pattern, set with pearls (some have a chain attached) ; two dozen jet brooches, some attached to bluevelvet pads, numbered on back 72 and 101 ; twenty-four silver serviette-rings, spun and Chippendale edges, floral engraving around the centre ; and two empty velvet ringboxes : total value, £3O 10s. Identifiable.

Kaikouba. —On or about 9th instant the dwelling of ROBERT ORTON was broken into, and the following articles stolen therefrom : A pipe and case, a razor and case, and a greenstone mere, about 30 lb. weight; total value, £4 Is. Greenstone only identifiable.

Dcjnedin. —l9th instant, from the dwelling of KATE HUNTER, 2 Grendon Street, Maori Hill, a ladies’ gold ring, set with five pearls in claw setting; a ladies’ gold ring, set with a row of five pearls each side of a row of five torquoises ; a ladies’ gold ring, set with three sapphires in gipsy setting ; a ladies’ gold ring, set with about six diamonds and three sapphires; a ladies’ gold ring, set with three sapphires and diamonds, with “K.M.” and “ A.H.” and a date on it; a ladies’ gold star pendant, set with pearls, with a fine neck-chain attaohed; a ladies’ long gold curb muffchain ; a ladies’ gold pendant of three acorns and a cluster of gold ; and a ladies’ black-morocco-leather handbag, with a flap over the top with a dome fastener, containing 15s. in silver : total value, £62 15s. Identifiable.

Invercargill. —On or about the sth ultimo, from 42 Ellis Street, the property of EDITH GERTRUDE BRODIE, a gentlemen’s B.S.A. bicycle, No. 177117; a ladies’ Centaur bicycle, cork grips with black tips, yellow-and-black dress-guard, new Dunlop tire on back wheel, patch about 3 in. long on front tire; and a Gladstone bag, about 20 in. long, containing a white-voile blouse, a striped flannel blouse, two or three pairs of ladies’ hose, two pairs of ladies’ shoes which have been half-soled’, a pair of ladies’ gum boots, and a pair of boys’ boots: total value, £lO.
