Graham, age thirty-two, height 5 ft. 6 in., blacksmith, native of New Zealand, strong build, dark complexion, dark-brown hair, brown ejes, small features. Arrears to 17th ultimo, £25.

Auckland.— 3lst ultimo, on warrant of commitment to Auckland Prison for twenty-four hours in default of paying 6s. costs for drunkenness, James Clark, age thirtysix, height 5 ft. Napier. —loth February last, on warrant for failing to comply with the terms of a maintenance order for the support of his wife, Geraldine Akahuta, and children, Rau Akahuta, ago twenty-seven, height 5 ft. 6|in., labourer, aboriginal, medium build, cooper complexion, black hair, brown eyes, fiat nose, “ R.A.” on left forearm, scar on left thumb, scars on shins. Accused left New Zealand with the Ninth Reinforcements. Complainant, Mary Scott.

Taihape. —lst February last, on warrant for failing to maintain his illegitimate child, Reginald Herbert Beliss, age twenty-five, height 5 ft. 6 in., tailor and soldier, native of New Zealand, slim build, fresh complexion, dark-brown hair, brown eyes. Accused left New Zealand with the Ninth Reinforcements. Complainant, Kathleen Beattie.

Taihape. —27th ultimo, on warrant of commitment to Lyttelton Prison for forty-eight hours in default of paying Bs. balance of fine and costs for drunkenness, Charles August Tomlinson, age fifty-two, height sft. sin., reporter, native of New Zealand, stout build, florid complexion, grey hair, hazel eyes; usually dressed in a greytweed dirty suit, hard black hat and tan boots.

Wanganui. — 10th instant, on warrant for obtaining credit by fraud, J. D. Goodwin, age about thirty, height 5 ft. 9 in., native of New Zealand, slight build, fresh complexion, dark hair; usually dressed in a green Norfolk suit and brown soft bat: smart appearance. Accused incurred a debt of £lO with Lawrence Joseph Cronin, motor-car proprietor, by falsely representing that he was employed by the Government inspecting telegraph-lines. Accused used complainant’s ear for two days, and then cleared out. There are other charges pending. He is probably identical with Harold Carter, alias A. J. Carter, alias Harold Barnaby, referred to in Police Gazette, 1914, pages 335 and 353. (See Police Gazette, 1915, pages 580 and 628 )

Waipukurau. —2sth ultimo, on warrant for false pretences, F. G. Berry (name probably fictitious), age about forty, height about 5 ft. 6 in., medium build, fresh complexion, brown hair turning grey ; usually dressed in drabcoloured riding-pants, greenish-grey Norfolk coat, tan boots and leggings, and grey cap ; smart appearance. Accused obtained £1 Is. 6d. from Victor Aulin, shop-assistant, by means of a valueless cheque for £3 on the Bank of New Zealand, Dannevirke. He committed other offences under the names Harris and Burberry.

Levin. —9th ultimo, on warrant of commitment to Wellington Prison for six months in default of paying £l9. arrears due on a maintenance order for the support of his wife, Kate Leader, Albert Leader, age forty, height 5 ft. 6in., blacksmith, native of New Zealand, slight build, fresh complexion, dark-brown hair, blue eves ; usually dressed in a dark-tweed suit and black soft-felt hat; very talkative, and uses a great deal of slang; fond of drink. He is well known to most racehorse owners and trainers.

Masterton. —l2th instant, that she may be compelled to contribute towards the maintenance of her son, an inmate of an industrial school, Harriet Maud Parsons, alias Larkins, age thirty, height about 5 ft. 6 in., domestic, native of New Zealand, stout build, fresh complexion, dark hair.

Greytown North. —lsth ultimo, on warrant of commitment to Wanganui Prison for one month in default o f paying £3O 10s. 6d. arrears due on a maintenance order for the support of his wife, Amy Grace McLean, and two children, Finlay John McLean, ase forty-three, height 5 ft. 5 in., farmer and commission agent, native of New Zealand, medium build, fresh complexion, dark-brown hair, grey eyes; well educated; pleasant manner.
