PERSONS WANTED.

Auckland. —25th ultimo, on warrant for selling liquor (beer) to Richard Murphy without being licensed to sell the same, Patrick Conway, age forty-five, height 5 ft. 7in., labourer, supposed native of New Zealand, medium build, fair complexion, grey hair and eyes, speaks with a Scotch accent; usually dressed in a grey dirty suit.

Auckland. —21st instant, that he may be compelled to comply with the terms of a maintenance order for the support of George C. Kemp, an inmate of Auckland Industrial School, William George Ringrose, age thirty, height sft. 8 in., sawmill hand, supposed native of New Zealand, medium build, pale complexion, brown hair, blue-grey eyes. Arrears to 12th June, 1914, £5. Inquiry by the Education Department, Wellington.

Auckland.— Robert Henry Urwin, failing to main tain, has paid £5 off the arrears to the Waihi police. (See Police Gazette , 1916, page 2.)

Auckland. —24th July, 1915, that a summons for false pretences may be served upon him, Claude Randolph Marmont, alias Parker, age twenty-eight, height 5 ft. 5 in., bricklayer and labourer, native of New Zealand, strong build, fair oomplexion, brown hair, grey eyes, large decayed teeth. He boasts of his ability as a pugilist. Accused obtained ss. from Albert Schinkel by falsely representing that he was employed by the Epsom Road Board as ranger. Eltham. —l4th October, 1915, on warrant for failing to comply with the terms of a maintenance order for the support of his wife and family, Alfred James Allen, age forty-one, height 5 ft. Bin., labourer, native of New Zealand, medium build, fair complexion, brown hair, blue eyes ; limps on right leg, which has been broken ; tip of right forefinger missing. Arrears to 2nd August, 1915, £22 Us.

Hamilton.— James H. Hudson, false pretences: It has been ascertained by the Wellington police that acoused joined the crew of the s.s. “ Moana,” as a steward and left by that ship for San Francisco on the Gth instant. (See Police Gazette , 1916, page 2.)

Te Kuiti.— l4th ultimo, on two warrants of commitment to Auckland Prison for (1) three months in default of paying £SO 135., fine and costs, and (2) fourteen days in default of paying £2 10s., fine and costs, for breaches of the Licensing Act, William Holmes, age forty-six, height 5 ft. 10^in., labourer and soldier, native of New Zealand, medium build, fair hair and complexion, blue eyes. He left New Zealand with the Tunnelling Corp 3.

Napier.— lst instant, on warrant for failing to comply with the terms of a maintenance order for the support of his wife, Alfred Linden, age sixty, height 5 ft. 5 in., cook, native of England, stout build, fresh complexion, dark hair turning grey ; wears spectacles; fond of drink. Arrears to Ist instant, £l9 l'7s.

Wellington.— 3rd ultimo, on warrant of commitment to Wellington Prison until order requiring security to provide for the maintenance of his unborn illegitimate child is complied with, William Charles Hill, age twenty-nine, height 5 ft. 8 in., steward, native of New Zealand, medium build, pale complexion, brovyn hair going bald, blue eyes, high forehead, one finger-nail deformed; usually dressed in a light-brown suit with patch pockets and leather buttons, straw hat or grey cap, and patent-leather shoes. Accused was ordered to find security in the sums of, himself £SO, and one surety of £SO, but failed to do so.

Wellington.—l2th instant, on warrant for failing to comply with the terms of a maintenance order for the support of his wife, Francis Joseph Roberts, ago fifty-two, height 5 ft. 7 in., caretaker, native of England, stout build, fair complexion, dark hair, blue eyes, stooped shoulders. Arrears to 27th yltimo, £BS.

Wellington. —2lst instant, that a summons for failing to maintain his wife and chddren may be served upon him, Samuel Blood, age twenty-five, height 5 ft. 4£in., storeman and stoker, native of New Zealand, strong build, fresh complexion, brown hair, grey or blue eyes, scar under right eye; woman, cross, and woman’s head on right arm; “ Zoe,” dagger, &c., on left arm. Wellington. —l9th ultimo, on warrant of commitment to Wellington Prison for forty-eight hours, in default of paying 17s. 6d. medical expenses incurred while on remand for helpless drunkenness, Robert Shepherd, age sixty-one, height 5 ft. 7in., labourer, native of Scotland, stout build, fresh complexion, grey hair and eyes; ballet-girl, star, and bracelet on right forearm ; ship on left forearm.

Wellington.—2oth ultimo, on warrant of commitment to Wellington Prison for one month in default of paying £6 13s. damages and costs for wilful damage, Alexander Waisenan, age thirty, height 5 ft. 6 in., seaman and painter, native of Finland, medium build, fair hair and complexion, blue eyes; speaks broken English.

Wellington. —lßth instant, that he may be located and induced to take charge of his child, an inmate of the Wellington Hospital, Ernest Stokes, age about thirtyeight, height about 5 ft. 7 in., blacksmith, medium build, fair hair going bald. He was last seen at Silverstream in November, 1915.

Westport. —26th ultimo, that he may be compelled to nay £l7 10s. 4d., arrears of maintenance due for the support of his brother, an inmate of an industrial school, James Shepherd M’Ewan, age thirty-two, height 5 ft. in., labourer and butcher, native of New Zealand, sallow complexion, dark hair, grey eyes, long broken nose, scar on right side of face. Greymouth.— Thomas Edward Langridge, default of fine and costs : It has been ascertained by the Greymouth police that the accused left for the front with the 3rd Australian Reinforcements. (See Police Gazette, 1913, page 542.)

Christchurch.— l2th ultimo, on warrant for failing to comply with the terms of a maintenance order for the support of his four children, inmates of St. Mary's Industrial School, Nelson, Alfred Heissenbuttel, alias Arthur Smithson, age about forty-four, height 5 ft. 9J in., labourer, native of New Zealand, medium build, fresh complexion, dark hair, grey eyes. Arrears due to 10th instant, £260. (See Police Gazette, 1911, page 164.)

Christchurch. —31st August, 1915, on warrant for failing to comply with the terms of a maintenance order for the support of his wife, Samuel Sandford, age about fifty-six, height 5 ft. 11 in., labourer, native of Ireland, medium build, fresh complexion, brown hair, grey eyes, nose slightly bent. Arrears to 11th instant, £4. (See Police Gazette, 1915, page 537.)

Waikouaiti.—llth instant, for breaking and entering the dwelling of Walter Morgan with intent to commit a crime, Man (name unknown), age about forty, height about 5 ft. 3 in., medium build, swarthy complexion, fair or brown hair. No warrant.

Kaitangata. —l7th instant, on warrant for failing to maintain his wife, Hans Mars Hansen, age thirty-eight, height sft. 4in., miner, native of New Zealand, stout build, fair hair and complexion, blue eyes, large hooked nose, takes short steps when walking ; erect gait. Complainant, Eliza Hansen, Water Street. (See Police Gazette, 1915, page 717.)

Invercargill. —2oth instant, on warrant for failing to make provision for the future maintenance of his unborn illegitimate child, Edward Egan, age twenty, height about 5 ft. 5 in., carpenter, native of New Zealand, stout build, fresh complexion, dark-brown hair, blue grey eyes, artificial teeth in upper jaw. Complainant, Jessie McKay, Victoria Home.

Invercargill. —lßth instant, that he may be located with a view to proceeding against him for theft, Patrick John Costello, age thirty-three, height 6 ft., farmer, native of Ireland, strong build, fair complexion, brown hair, blue eyes. He is accompanied by Elsie Jane Nuttall , referred to in Police Gazette, 1916, page 6. If located, an urgent communication is to be sent to the Inspector of Police, Invercargill, asking for instructions.
