Hamilton.-— 7th ultimo, on warrant for forgery and uttering, Bell (name probably fictitious), age about thirty-three, height 5 ft. 6 in., clerk, native of Australia, medium build, fresh complexion, brown hair, grey eyes; smart appearance. Aooused forged the name of J. C. Hodgson to a cheque for £lO, drawn on the Union Bank of Australia, Wellington, and uttered it to Mrs. Ryan, Hamilton Hotel. He is believed to be identical with Charles Frederick Hodgson, referred to in Police Gazette, 1915, page 536.

Te Kuiti. —10th instant, on warrant for theft of a set of dental instruments and one dental vulcanizer, value £2O, identifiable, the property of Frederick Wellington Carrington, Awakino, Charles Hood, age about forty, height 5 ft. 11 in., dentist, native of England, medium build, fair complexion, brown hair turning grey, blue eyes ; good address; respectable appearance.

Feilding. — Percy William Gibbs, default of maintenance: It has been ascertained by the Taupo police that accused left Australia with the Expeditionary Force, and is now at the Dardanelles. (See Police Gazette, 1913, page 755.)

Napier. —2nd instant, on warrant of commitment to Napier Prison for six months in default of paying £65 arrears due on a maintenance order for the support of his wife and children, Charles Horace Holder, age about thirty-three, height 5 ft. 7 in., carpenter, native of New Zealand, medium build, fresh complexion, light-brown hair, irregular front teeth.

Napier. 2nd June last, on warrant for attempted false pretences, Richard Harry Howell, alias “Phenomenal” Fairchild, age twenty-eight, height 5 ft. 6 in., student, native of America, medium build, pale complexion, dark-brown hair, brown eyes, scar on right elbow ; usually dressed in a dark suit, brown overcoat, and soft drab hat; smart appearance. Accused attempted to obtain £350 from Rehi Hata by falsely representing that he could cure Mrs. Hata of a certain ailment from which she was suffering. Accused entered into a recognizance to appear at the Supreme Court, Napier, for trial, but failed to do so. A warrant was then issued for his arrest for being about to abscond from bail, but, as it is now believed that he is in Australia, a warrant has been issued for bis arrest on the original charge so that he can be extradited. Extradition expenses are guaranteed. (See Police Gazette, 1915, page 481.)

Accused obtained credit to the amount of £2O 10s. from Graham and Gebbie, motor-car proprietors, by falsely representing that he was going to Palmerston North to purchase stock for Olrig Station.

Bull’s. —19th instant, on warrant for false pretences, W. Wilkins, age thirty, height 5 ft. 7 in., canvasser, stout build, fresh complexion, brown hair; striding gait; respectable appearance. Accused obtained 10s. 6d. from W. H. Hosking, hotelkeeper, by falsely representing that he was agent for the Press Company, Christchurch.

Masterton. ing to carnally know Myrtle Dykins, a girl of eleven years of age, Man (name unknown), age about thirty-five, height about 5 ft. 8 in., strong build, fresh complexion, brown hair, two prominent teeth in upper jaw; dressed in a grey suit and cap and waterproof overcoat.

Upper Hutt. —3oth June last, for failing to comply with the terms of his probation, Stanley Carter, age nineteen, height 5 ft. 6 in., labourer and farmer, native of New Zealand, sallow complexion, dark hair, blue eyes, turned-up nose, large mouth, 1401 b. weieht. If located he is not to be arrested, but warned that if he fails to report himself his license will be cancelled. (See Police Gazette, 1914, page 466.)

Wellington. —lßth instant, for failing to comply with the terms of his release upon probationary license, Edward George Fox, age thirty-two, height 5 ft. 8 in., shipwright, native of England, fresh complexion, dark-brown hair, darkblue eyes; full-rigged ship, bust of man and woman, “ H.M.,” and clasped hands on right arm ; scar on left forefinger and thumb; walks lame. Sin., fireman, native of Australia, medium build, fair hair and complexion, blue eyes; usually dressed in a navy-blue suit, rainproof overcoat, brown cap and boots. He is a good pianist, and is supposed to be in Sydney. His photograph is filed in the Superintendent’s Office, Christchurch. Complainant, Lillie Duffy, 19 Wilmer Street.
