PERSONS WANTED.

Auckland.— l3th April last, on warrant for theft of £1 15s. 10d., the property of his employers, R. and W. Hellaby, butchers, Takapuna, Arthur P. Ralph, age about twenty-nine, height about 5 ft. 6 in., butcher, strong build, fresh complexion, light-brown hair, broad face, mole on left cheek. There are other charges pending.

Auckland,— 9th April last, on warrant of commitment to Auckland Prison for twenty-four hours in default of paying Bs. fine and costs for drunkenness, Edward Lawson, alias Rigby, alias Wilson, alias Redhead, age twenty-seven, height sft. Bin., labourer, native of England, medium build, fair complexion, brown hair, blue eyes, scar on left side of nose and on left thumb, several moles on chest and under left eye. Auckland.— 2sth ultimo, on warrant of commitment to Wellington Prison for fourteen days in default of paying £1 ss, arrears due on a maintenance order for the support of his wife, William Butterworth, alias Raton, age about forty-five, height 5 ft. 10 in., wharf labourer, supposed native of New Zealand, stout build, tanned complexion, dark hair turning grey, blue eyes, tips of left fingers injured.

New Plymouth.- T. Penthorp, ailas T. Simpson, alias Bassett, false pretences : Accused is identical with Harold Harding Howell, referred to in Police Gazette, 1915, page 427. (See Police Gazette, 1915, pages 415 and 432, and following paragraphs.)

Wellington.— lßth instant, on warrant for false pretences, P. Hogan (name probably fictitious), age about thirty, height about 5 ft. 10 in., labourer, native of New Zealand, medium build, fair hair and complexion, large eyes; dressed in a blue-serge suit, soft-felt hat, and brown waterproof; walks with a slight stoop. Accused obtained two bottles of whisky and £4 7s. 9d. in cash from Thomas Stephen McGuire, hotelkeeper, by means of a valueless cheque for £l6 95., drawn on the National Bank of Mew Zealand, Feilding. He is supposed to be identical with T. Penthorp, alias T. P. Simpson, alias Bassett, referred to in Police Gazette, 1915, page 415, with Harold Howell, referred to in Police Gazette, 1915, page 432, and with P. Walsh, alias Jenkins. Feilding. —l4th instant, on warrant for false pretences, P. Walsh, alias Jenkins, age about twenty-five, height 5 ft. 11 in., labourer, native of England, strong build, dark hair and complexion. Accused obtained goods and cash to the value of £6 Bs. by means of a valueless cheque on the Bank of New Zealand, Bull’s. He also borrowed a blank cheque, No. 38319, on the Bank of New Zealand, Bull’s, with which he may attempt to obtain money. He is believed to be identical with Harold Harding Howell, referred to in Police Gazette, 1915, page 427. (See Police Gazette, 1915, page 432, and preceding paragraphs.)

Wanganui. —Bth instant, on warrant for failing to maintain his wife, Percy Reginald Harman, alias Carroll, age twenty-three, height s,ft. 7in., painter, native of New Zealand, medium build, fair hair and complexion, blue eyes, artificial upper teeth. He may endeavour to leave the Dominion. Complainant, Ethel Harman, Gonville.

Dannevirke. —15th instant, that a summons may be served upon him for a breach of his prohibition order, Arthur Carrington, age forty-nine, height 5 ft. 10in., labourer, native of New Zealand, medium build, fresh complexion, auburn hair, grey eyes, thick nose, left leg stiff; impediment in speech. (See Police Gazette , 1913, page 689.)

Wellington. —l2th instant, on warrant for being an idle and disorderly person, Violet Williams, age thirtytwo, height 5 ft. 3 in., native of New Zealand, slim build, pale complexion, brown hair, blue eyes; usually dressed in a navy-blue blouse and a dark skirt.

Wellington. —2sth instant, for failing to comply with the terms of his release upon probationary license, Thomas William Adams, age twenty-seven, height 5 ft. 6 in., fireman, native of England, fresh complexion, fair hair, brown eyes, scar on left ring and little fingers. His license has been cancelled, and his arrest is desired. (See Police Gazette, 1915, page 105.) (P. 15/945.)

Wellington.— 3oth March last, on warrant for failing to comply with the terms of a maintenance order for the support of his wife, Charles Mercer, age fifty - four, labourer and fireman, native of New Zealand, stout build, ruddy complexion, fair hair, grey eyes. (See Police Gazette, 1907, page 474.)

Waiuta. — 27th March last, that two notices of fines for drunkenness for 10s. and £1 respectively may be served upon him, William McNeill, age forty-three, height 5 ft. in., labourer, native of Scotland, medium build, florid complexion, dark-brown hair, blue eyes. (See Police Gazette, 1915, page 141.)

Greymouth.— 22nd April last, that a summons may be served upon him for failing to comply with the terms of a maintenance order, James or Jeff Barlow, age fortyfive, height 5 ft. 2 in., canvasser, native of Ireland, fresh complexion, brown hair, blue eyes, scar on back of head. (See Police Gazette, 1913, page 740.)

Christchurch. Bth instant, on warrant for failing to maintain his wife, Arthur Robert Cooper, age about twenty-three, height about 5 ft. 10 in., farm labourer, native of New Zealand, slim build, fresh complexion, fair hair, blue eyes; stutters when speaking. Complainant, Edith May Cooper, Woolston.

Christchurch. —24th instant, on warrant for failing to maintain his illegitimate child, Walter Cooper, age twenty-eight, height 5 ft. 6 in., labourer, native of New Zealand, strong build, brown complexion, hair, and eyes. Complainant, Margaret Alice Howatson, Southbridge.

Christchurch. —l2th ultimo, for failing to comply with the terms of her release upon probationary license, May Petersen, age twenty-three, height sft. 4in., domestic, native of New Zealand, pale complexion, fair hair, blue eyes (cast in right one), thick nose. (See Police Gazette, 1914, page 789.)

Christchurch.— 26th February last, on warrant of commitment to military custody for seven days in default of paying £1 10s. fine and costs for a breaohof the Defence Act, Stanley Douglas Keats, age about twenty-two, height about 5 ft. 10 m., labourer, native of New Zealand, slim build, sallow complexion, dark hair and eyes.

Christchurch. —28th April last, on warrant of commitment to Lyttelton Prison for seven days in default of paying 15s. fine and costs for a breach of the City By-laws, Alexander Allison, age about thirty, height 5 ft. 10 in., marine dealer, native of New Zealand, medium build, fair complexion, brown hair, thin face.

Christchurch. —22nd instant, on warrant for failing to maintain his illegitimate child, Leonard Atkinson, age thirty-one, height 5 ft. 10 in., collector and clerk, native of New Zealand, good build, pale complexion, fair hair, brown eyes, small lump on one ear ; wears speotacles. Complainant, Ella Jane Smith, 16 Wilmer Street.

Dunedin. — John Selwyn Hordern, false pretences: It has been ascertained by the Invercargill police that on the Ist April last accused was sentenced at Melbourne to

eighteen months’ imprisonment on each of two charges of horse-stealing and theft, and declared an habitual criminal. (See Police Gazette, 1915, page 179.)

Gore.— 24th April, 1914, on warrant of commitment to Wellington Prison for three days in default of paying £1 fine and costs for a breach of the Licensing Act, George Bell, age thirty, height 5 ft. 8 in., groom and horse-dealer, native of New Zealand, medium build, fresh complexion, dark-brov/n hair, hazel eyes.

Winton. — John Hordern, false pretences : It has been ascertained by the Invercargill police that on the Ist April last accused was sentenced at Melbourne to eighteen months’ imprisonment on each of two charges of horse-stealing and theft, and declared an habitual criminal. (See Police Gazette, 1915, page 160.)

Invercargill.— lsth April last, on warrant of commitment to Invercargill Prison for twenty-four hours in default of paying 9s. fine and costs for drunkenness, William Simmonds, alias Jones, alias Symonds, age forty-six, height 5 ft. s|in., fireman, native of England, medium build, dark complexion, dark-brown hair and eyes. He is identical with offender of the same name referred to in Police Gazette, 1914, page 759, and Photographs, 1910, page 58.

Invercargill. —29th April last, on warrant of commitment to Invercargill Prison for forty-eight; hours in default of paying 10s. fine and costs for drunkenness, Donald McLeod, age thirty-three, height 5 ft. 7 in., labourer, native of Scotland, strong build, dark complexion, dark hair turning grey, brown eyes ; slovenly appearance.
