PROPERTY STOLEN.
Auckland. —24th ultimo, from the s.s. “ Weka,” the property of R. W. BAGNALL, a gentleman’s fawn-coloured rainproof overcoat, half silk-lined, “ Burbery ” on tab; value, £6. Identifiable.
Hastings. —l7th ultimo, from a tent, the property of ETHEL ALMA EDWARDS, a lady’s black-leather handbag (cord handle) ; a silver-mounted brown-leather purse, about 5 in. long; a gold horse-shoe pin, set with nine pearls : a gold horse-shoe pin; a gold pin, with a chain and swan attached; a gold-mounted greenstone pendant; two whitehandled pocket-knives ; a steel-handled pocket-knife, with Auckland Exhibition Building thereon; a Napier Post-office Savings bank book, No. 77406 ; and 16s. 6d. in money. Total value, £3 9s. Identifiable except money.
Dannevirke.— TlMOTHY MORIARTY’S property stolen : Thomas Yates has been arrested for this offence by the Peilding police, and the stolen property recovered. (See Police Gazette, 1915, page 232.)
Petone.— EDWARD HARRUP’S watch, &c., stolen: Robert McLachan has been airested for this offence by the Green Island police, and the stolen property recovered. (See Police Gazette, 1915, page 29.)
Wellington. 27th ultimo, from the dwelling of FLORENCE DRUMMOND, a lady’s gold band ring with “M.R.” on it; a lady’s gold ring, set with five green opals ; a lady’s gold neck-chain with a small pearl above five peridots ; a lady’s small round brooch, set with six or eight peridots; a gentleman’s gold Masonic emblem tie-pin; two ladies’ gold neck-chains, with a cross attached to each ; a lady’s gold-and-pearl brooch ; a lady’s gold dagger brooch ; a lady’s gun-metal wristlet watch ; a small gold safety brooch ; a lady’s oxidised neck-chain with a blue-enamel pendant; a small leather purse ; and £2 18s. in money: total value, £2l ss. 6d. Identifiable.
Denniston.- —6th ultimo, from a bedroom at the Mount Rochfort Hotel, the property of HENRY JOHN FOX, £4 7s. 6d. in money. r Suspicion is attached to Edward Conway, alias Ted Ryan, alias C. Reid, age thirtyfive, height 5 ft. 6 in., labourer, miner, and seaman, native of England, dark complexion, hair, and eyes; walks with a slight limp, who has been interviewed by the police without result.
Dunedin. —24th February last, from Davis’s dental rooms, the property of EVELYN MUIRHEAD, a lady’s darkbrown leather handbag, containing a Dunedin-Mosgiel Railway pass with “Evelyn Muirhead ” on it; a lady’s silver hunting-watch, No. 652412 (glass missing) ; a lady’s gold watch-chain; a medal with “ Mary E. Nicholson” on one side and “ Outram School, 1907,” on the other; a few photographs; and ten silver coins: total value, £8 15s. Identifiable except coins.
Ashburton. —l4th February last, from P. Devane’s yard, the property of JOHN PATRICK CUSACK, a gentleman’s black-enamelled free-wheel Twiss bicycle, upturned handles with white grips, front-rim brake, steel pedals, celluloid mudguards, red tire on front wheel ; value, £6. Identifiable.
