PERSONS WANTED.

Houhora.— -30th December last, on warrant for theft of a quantity of gum, valued at £5 (part recovered), the property of Luka Antonovich, gum-digger, Tony Babich, alias Tomacovich, alias Thomas, alias Krisanovich, age thirty-five to forty, height about 5 ft, 4 in., gum-digger, supposed native of Poland, stout build, dark hair and complexion, small grey eyes, hairy face, big head ; speaks several foreign languages.

Whangarei. —loth March, 1914, on warrant of commitment to Auckland Prison for seven days in default of paying £1 10s. 6d. fine and costs for a breach of the Borough By-laws, John Melton, age thirty-five, height 5 ft. 9 in., cabinetmaker, native of England, slight build, fair complexion, auburn hair, blue eyes.

Whangarei.— l7th June, 1914, on warrant of commitment to Auckland Prison for seven days in default of paying £2 Os. 6d. fine and costs for a breach of the Borough Bylaws, Chung Lung Tsai, age twenty-five, height 5 ft. 4 in., hawker, native of China, light build, sallow complexion, black hair, blue eyes.

Auckland.— l2th instant, on warrant for absconding from his bail, Patrick Gunn, alias Dunn, alias John Watson, age nineteen, height 5 ft. 6Jin., tinsmith, native of New Zealand, slight build, sallow complexion, black hair, grey eyes, scar on left wrist and thumb, two soars on each forefinger. Auckland. —llth instant, on warrant for failing to comply with the terms of a maintenance order for the support of his illegitimate child, William Alfred Yasper James, age twenty-eight, height 5 ft. 8 in., labourer, native of New Zealand, medium build, fresh complexion, brown hair, blue eyes; smart appearance. (See Police Gazette , 1913, page 234.)

Onehunga.— l6th instant, on warrant for forgery and uttering, S. F. Wallace (name probably fictitious), age about twenty-three, height 5 ft. 6 in., native of England, slight build, dark hair, pale complexion ; dressed in a lightgrey suit and soft black hat. Accused forged the name Alexander Forsyth to a cheque for £3O 10s. on the National Bank of New Zealand, Onehunga, and tendered same at the bank, receiving cash to that amount. He is supposed to be identical with Anthony Claude Gumm, referred to in Police Gazette , 1913, page 57, and Photographs, page 17.

Te Aroha.— Robert Manning, theft: Accused is now in Egypt with the Expeditionary Force. (See Police Gazette , 1914, page 791.)

Gisborne. — 12th instant, on warrant for failing to maintain his illegitimate child, Frederick Bolland, age about thirty-four, height 6ft., cook, native of England, slim build, dark hair and complexion, dark-brown eyes, mole on right cheek, several lower teeth and right forefinger missing. Complainant, Emily Solomon, 363 Palmerston Road, Gisborne.

Stratford. — Since 14th January last, that two maintenance orders for the support of his wife and family may be served on him, William Smith, age sixty-five, height about 5 ft. 5 in., labourer, native of England, medium build ; inclined to stoop ; fond of drink ; very quarrelsome ; suffers from rheumatism.

Hastings.— lßth December, 1914, on warrant for failing to comply with the terms of a maintenance order for the support ot his wife and children, John Hercock, age twenty-three, height 5 ft. 3 in., jockey, native of New Zealand, slight build, fresh complexion, dark hair, blue eyes, scar on left side of mouth.

Poxton. — 29th ultimo, on warrant for failing to comply with the terms of a maintenance order for the support of his children, Arthur McKegney, age thirty, height sft. 6 in., labourer and flax-mill hand, native of New Zealand, strong build, dark hair and complexion, brown eyes. Bull’s.— 29th ultimo, on warrant of commitment to Wanganui Prison for seven days in default of paying £1 fine for drunkenness, Benjamin Studiey, age fifty-six, height 5 ft. 6 in., bootmaker, native of England, stout build, dark complexion, grey hair and moustache. He has a habit of talking to himself.

Wanganui. —llth September last, on warrant for murdering Wong Way Ching at 100 Adelaide Road, Wellington, Dan O’Brien, age forty-three, height 5 ft. 10 in., labourer, native of New Zealand, thin build, dark complexion, dark hair turning grey, heavy grey moustache ; usually dressed in grey coat, blue-dungaree trousers, and brown soft hat. He is supposed to be working on railwayconstruction works near Whangamomona. (See Police Gazette , 1914, page 587.)

Tenth. —3oth ultimo, on warrant of commitment to Wellington Prison for twenty-one days in default of paying £3 7s. fine and costs tor indecent language, James Kelly, age thirty-three, height 5 ft. sJin., fireman and labourer, native of Ireland, medium build, dark hair and complexion, blue eyes. He may be identical with Thomas Kelly, referred to in Police Gazette , 1914, page 758.

Wellington. —2nd ultimo, on warrant of commitment to Wellington Prison for three days in default of paying £1 10s. fine and costs for a breach of his prohibition order, Kenneth Minahan, alias Sydney Wright, alias Monaghan, age forty, height 5 ft. B§in., labourer, native of New Zealand, medium build, dark hair and complexion, scar on forehead, double anchor on left arm. (See Police Gazette, 1914, page 704.)

Wellington. —l2th instant, on warrant for deserting from the s.s. “El Cordobes,” J. Stone, age thirty-six, height 5 ft. 5 in., fireman, native of England, brown hair, grey eyes.

Wellington.— Since 7th ultimo, that a summons may be served on him for supplying liquor to a prohibited person, Walter Michael Baton, age thirty-five to forty, height about 5 ft. 8 in., remittance-man, native of Canada, slim build, light hair, grey eyes, sallow complexion, prominent nose, sunken chest, long thin fingers ; wearing a light-grey suit.

Wellington.—9th instant, on warrant for failing to maintain his wife and child, Robert Grant, age thirtythree, height 6 ft., labourer, native of Scotland, medium build, fresh complexion, dark-brown hair, grey eyes, scar on nose ; dancing-girl on left arm; Faith, Hope, and Charity and “ Elsie ” on right arm. Complainant, Janet Grant, 272 Upper Willis Street.

Wellington.— 2nd instant, on warrant of commitment to Wellington Prison for seven days in default of paying £4 arrears due on a maintenance order for the support of his mother, William John Anderson, age forty-six, height sft. 7in., labourer and driver, medium build, fair complexion, auburn hair, blue eyes, scar on left eye.

Wellington.— loth instant, on warrant for deserting from the s.s. “ Remuera,” James Stone, age thirty-three, height 5 ft. 8f in., storekeeper, native of England, medium build, sallow complexion, fair hair, grey eyes, true lover’s knot and “ J. Stone ” on right arm.

Mount Cook. — 15th instant, on warrant for theft of a post-office savings-bank box containing about £3 ; a lady’s gold band ring, originally set with three blue stones (one missing) ; and a heart-shaped stone, either a garnet or a ruby, total value £B, stone and ring identifiable, the property of Ernest Ching, prison warder, Gecil Bullot, age about twenty-two, height about 5 ft. 8 in., native of New Zealand, slim build, pale complexion, long fair hair brushed back, prominent nose, one front tooth filled with white stopping, dressed in a dark suit with long coat. He is supposed to belong to New Plymouth.

Greymouth.— l7th August last, on warrant of commitment to Greymouth Prison for fourteen days in default of paying £2 3s. fine and costs for abusing a railway guard, Frank Burns, age about thirty-two, height 5 ft. 10 in., miner, native of Tasmania, strong build, ruddy complexion, dark hair, ginger moustache.

Greymouth. —lsth September, 1910, on warrant for failing to maintain his illegitimate child, Frank Allen, alias Fred Murray, age about thirty, height 6 ft., sawmill hand, supposed native of New Zealand, fresh complexion, light-brown hair, grey eyes, scar on upper lip, large nose, prominent ears. Complainant, Mrs. Dora Crighton, Kotuku, Grey County.

Lyttelton. —l7th instant, on warrant for deserting from the s.s. “ Corinthic,” John Milner, age thirty-five, height 5 ft. 10 in., able seaman, native of England, medium build, dark hair and moustache ; dressed in a dark suit and cap.

Christchurch.- —Bth December, 1914, on warrant for failing to comply with the terms of a maintenance order for the support of his wife, William James Patrick, age fifty-three, height 6 ft., labourer, native of England, slim build, dark complexion, dark hair, blue eyes, large lump on one foot.

Christchurch. — Since the 22nd ultimo, that he may be located with a view to keeping him under supervision, R. Zimmerman, height about 5 ft. 7in., native of Germany, clean-shaven, fair complexion. He may be identical with offender of same name referred to in Police Gazette, 1911, page 316.

Sydenham. —4th instant, for committing rape on Arene Rita Williams, a girl of eleven years of age, Man (name unknown), age about twenty to thirty, height about 5 ft. 7 in., dark complexion, mediuln build, dark-brown hair, fair or brown moustache ; dressed in a black suit and black soft hat, navy-blue tie with a Union Jack on it, and turneddown linen collar, and wearing a silver double curb watchchain and a gold tie-pin with a knob on it.

Timaru. —17th instant, on warrant for deserting from the s.s. “Kaikoura,” William Tonner, age fifty, height 5 ft. 5 in., fireman, strong build, grey hair ; cross-eyed.

Dunedin. —l6th instant, on warrant for failing to comply with the terms of ,a maintenance order for the support of his wife and children, Stephen Cairns, age forty-three, height 5 ft. 9Jin., trainer, native of New Zealand, slim build,jsailow complexion, brown hair, blue eyes, “S.C.” on left forearm, scar on tip of right little finger, prominent nose, fair moustache. Dunedin. —23rd December last, on warrant for theft of £74 10s., the property of James Henry Johnson, farmer, Hugh McMillan Swing, age about forty, height about 5 ft. 9 in., solicitor, supposed native of New Zealand, strong build, fresh complexion, brown hair, grey eyes, club feet, corpulent abdomen.

Dunedin. —2Bth ultimo, on warrant for deserting from the s.s. “Kaikoura.” Patrick Hand, age thirty-five, height 5 ft;. lOJin., fireman, native of New Zealand, medium build, fresh complexion, brown hair, blue eyes. A reward of £2 is offered for his arrest.

Hampden. —lsth instant, on warrant for failing to comply with the terms of a maintenance order for the support of his wife, John Ephraim Wilson, age thirty-five, height 5 ft. 7 in., carpenter and joiner, native of New Zealand, medium build, fair hair, very bald, prominent blue eyes, decayed teeth, both eye-teeth broken off.
