Aratapu. —l7th September, 1914, on warrant of commitment to Auokland Prison for seven days in default of paying £1 10s. fine and costs for a breach of the peace, Ernest Mather, age about twenty-five, height about 5 ft. 5 in., painter and paperhanger, native of New Zealand, medium build, dark sallow complexion, black hair, blue eyes ; smart appearance. Michael Kiely, age fifty-five, height 5 ft. 7Jin., blacksmith, native of Wales, medium build, fresh complexion, grey hair, brown eyes, pierced heart, &c., on right forearm, “In memory of Jane Kiely” and wreath on left forearm; fond of drink. Napier. —l3th instant, on warrant for theft of a gentleman’s B.S.A. bicycle, reversible outrigger handles with “ P.0.P.” on them, back-pedalling brake, rat-trap pedals, “Hollis” stamped on bottom bar of saddle, value £B, the property of Joseph Rogers, Port Ahuriri, William King, alias Leahy, age about twenty, height 5 ft. 2 in., labourer and driver, native of New Zealand, strong build, fair complexion, closes left eye when conversing. Accused forged the name “J. A. Gulliver ”to a cheque for £l2 145., drawn on the Bank of New Zealand, Hawera, and uttered it to Alfred Benjamin Muggeridge, Manutahi, in payment of a bill for £1 Bs. 6d. for clothing.

Hastings. —lßth instant, on warrant of commitment to Napier Prison for twenty-four hours in default of paying £1 3s. fine and costs for drunkenness, Cornelius Sullivan, age about fifty, height 5 ft. 1 in., labourer, native of England, medium build, fresh complexion, fair hair turning grey, blue eyes; girl, cross, and “In loving memory of my dear mother ” on left forearm ; Crucifix on right forearm.
