PERSONS WANTED.

Dargaville.— 9th October last, on warrant of commitment to Dargaville Police-gaol for seven days in default of paying HI 7s. fine and costs for drunkenness while in charge of a horse, Martin Conroy, alias McKetterick, age thirty, height 5 ft. 2 in., stableman, native of Australia, medium build, brown hair ; dressed in dark clothes and soft hat.

Auckland.— llth ultimo, on warrant of commitment to Rotoroa Inebriates Home, Arthur Postlewaight, age forty-three, height sft. BJin., labourer, native of New Zealand, medium build, florid complexion, dark hair, hazel eyes. He failed to appear in answer to a summons for a breach of his prohibition order, and was committed to Rotoroa for twelve months. (See Police Gazette , 1914, page 683.)

Auckland.— Since April last, that he may be compelled to contribute towards the support of his illegitimate child, an inmate of the Auckland Industrial School, Richard Murray, age about thirty, height about 6 ft., labourer, native of New Zealand, broad shoulders, sallow complexion, very large dark eyes, dark waxed moustache.

Auckland. —l7th October last, for breaking and entering the dwelling of Alice Cunningham, at Devonport, with intent to commit a crime therein and assaulting her, Man (name unknown), age about thirty, short, medium build, dark moustache; dressed in dark clothes and soft green hat, and wearing a double ourb gold watch-chain with a square locket in centre. He was also carrying an umbrella. No warrant.

Auckland. — 14th ultimo, on warrant for breaking and entering the dwelling of James Yugler, school-teacher, 63 Grange Road, and stealing therefrom goods to the value of

£39, George Ward (name probably fictitious), age about fifty, height about sft. 4in., medium build, heavy grey moustache, black hair turning grey, dark complexion ; respectably dressed. Identifiable. (See Police Gazette, 1914, pages 762 and 793.)

Ngaruawahia. Edward Thomas Hughes, alias Wilson, alias Saule, failing to comply with the terms of his probationary license : Offender’s license has been cancelled by Governor’s warrant. The warrant issued at Ngaruawahia has also been cancelled, and his arrest is desired under the provisions of section 14 of the Crimes Amendment Act, 1910. (See Police Gazette, 1914, page 792.)

Hamilton.— l6th November last, on warrant for false pretences, Harry Barton, name probably fictitious, age about thirty, height about 5 ft. 6 in., aboriginal, native of New Zealand, strong build, copper complexion, black hair, brown eyes, cast in left eye ; dressed in a dark grey suit, tan leggings and boots, and dark-grey-felt hat. Accused obtained a suit-case, value £1 10s., from Edward Jones, saddler, Hamilton, by falsely representing that he was the brother of a well-known Maori named Reid Barton.

Gisborne. —2nd November last, on warrant of commitment to Gisborne Prison for one month in default of paying £7 10s. arrears due on a maintenance order for the support of his wife and children, William Moar, age thirty-seven, height 5 ft. ll|in., labourer, native of New Zealand, thin strong build, fair complexion, fair curly hair, large scar on left shin, portion of left little finger missing. He has failed to appear in answer to a summons. He was photographed on the 2nd July, 1906. (See Police Gazette, 1906, page 256.)

Napier. —2nd ultimo, on warrant of commitment to Napier Prison for fourteen days in default of paying £lO 3s. 9d. balance of fine and oosts for mischief, Russell Hale, age twenty, height 5 ft. 6 in., engineer, native of New Zealand, thin build, pale complexion, brown hair and eyes. He is supposed to have gone to England. (See Police Gazette, 1914, page 680.)

Hawera. —9th November last, on warrant for failing to comply with the terms of a maintenance order for the support of his children, Charles Maddox, age forty-eight, height 5 ft, sin., labourer, native of England, medium build, dark complexion, dark hair turning grey, brown eyes, heavy dark moustache turning grey, shaggy eyebrows. Complainant, Eva Maddox, Nolantown, Hawera.

Hastings. —llth ultimo, on warrant for deserting his wife, Walter Pulford Warren, age thirty-six, height 5 ft. 5 in., chauffeur, native of New Zealand, medium build, fresh complexion, dark hair, brown eyes, soar on right side of neck, burn-mark on left side of neck ; smart appearance. Complainant, Sophia Harriet Warren, Ellison Road, Hastings.

Hastings. —Since 21st October last, that a summons may be served on him for trespass, William Touhy, age about twenty-eight, height 5 ft. 5 in., shearer and labourer, native of New Zealand, stout build, dark hair and complexion, blue eyes, clean-shaven; usually dressed in a dark suit and black-felt hat.

Hastings. —Since the 20th November last, that a notice of fine for a breach of bis prohibition order may be served on him, Michael Purcell, age fifty-one, height 5 ft. lOJin., labourer, native of Ireland, medium build, fresh complexion, dark hair turning grey, grey eyes. Ongaonga. —6th ultimo, on warrant for breaking and entering the dwelling of Margaret Helen Ann Buchanan at Tikokino, and stealing therefrom a rug (recovered), a blanket, a metal clock, and a blue bottle containing strychnine, total value, £2 Is., identifiable, Thomas Carter (name probably fictitious), age about sixty, height about 5 ft. 6 in., swagger, slim build, fresh complexion, blue eyes, grey hair and beard, the latter clipped short; wearing a rather long brown coat and blue trousers, and carrying a swag.

Dannevirke. —On or about the 3rd October last, for theft of a gun (recovered) and two fishing-rods, total value £4 55., from the dwelling of Mrs. Fritz Jensen, Victoria Avenue, Li. Johnston (name probably fictitious), age about twentysix, height about oft. 6 in., slim build, fresh complexion, brown hair; fairly well dressed. No warrant.

Wellington. —l6th ultimo, that he may be located and warned that unless he complies with the conditions of his release, his probationary license will be cancelled, Albert Edward Yates, age twenty-two, height 5 ft. 10J in., labourer, native of New Zealand, fair complexion, lightbrown hair, grey eyes, large scar on side of face and upper lip, and on lobe of right ear, left eyebrow disfigured, (See Police, Qazette, 1913, page 568.) Wellington. —Since about the 18th November last, that she may be compelled to support her illegitimate child, an inmate of a registered home, Mataura Jones, age about twenty-four, height about 5 ft. 6 in., domestic, native of New Zealand, medium build, dark hair and complexion, brown eyes.

Wellington. —2nd November last, on warrant for failing to maintain his illegitimate child, Alfred J. Chote, age twenty-six, height about 5 ft. 6 in., carpenter, native of New Zealand, slight build, dark complexion, black hair, brown eyes, “ In loving memory of my mother ” or words to that effect on a cross on one arm; stooping gait, His photograph is filed in the Superintendent’s Office, Wellington. Complainant, May Florence Fitzlaff, 2 Penrose Avenue, Newtown.

Wellington. —9th ultimo, on warrant for indecently assaulting Leo Edward Jensen, a boy of six years of age, Man (name unknown), age about forty-six, height about 5 ft. 6 in., medium build, dark complexion, blue eyes, darkbrown hair and moustache turning grey, hollow cheeks ; dressed in blue suit, soft shirt, and dark-grey cap. Identifiable. He is supposed to be identical with William Ernest Jones, alias Beatty, alias O’Halloran, referred to in Police Gazette, 1911, page 585, and Photographs, 1912, page 7.

Waiota. —Since 7th October last, that summonses may be served on him for obscene language and playing “ Two-up,” Reuben Wolfe, age about thirty, height about 5 ft. 9 in., miner, native of New Zealand, strong build, fresh complexion, brown hair and eyes. (See Police Gazette, 1914, page 257.)

Waiuta. —2lst June, 1914, on warrant of commitment to Greymouth Prison for twenty-one days in default of paying £2 3s. fine and costs for obstructing the police, David Rohan, age about thirty, height about 5 ft. 9 in., miner, native of Wales, medium build, pale complexion, brown hair ; inclined to stoop ; fond of drink.

Christchurch.— E. Berry, theft: Offender’s full name is Edward Berry. It is believed he is at present in Sydney. (See Police Gazette, 1914, page 168.)

Christchurch. —11th ultimo, on warrant for failing to make adequate provision for the future maintenance of his unborn illegitimate child, William Russell, age twentyfive, height 5 ft. 10 in., engine-driver, native of New Zealand, heavy build, ruddy complexion, thin hair, grey eyes ; dressed in a blue or brown suit; erect gait; nose slightly turned up. Complainant, Mary Adelaide Elizabeth Otten, 9 Cheviot Street, Christchurch.

Addington. —l7th ultimo, for escaping from Sunnyside Mental Hospital, Baron Bulberg, age twenty-four, height 5 ft. 7 in., labourer, native of Russia, medium build, fresh complexion, fair hair, blue eyes ; dressed in a brown suit, and wearing a- light-grey cap ; foreign appearance ; speaks broken English.

Invercargill. 2nd November last, on warrant of commitment to Dunedin Prison for one month in default of paying £l7 Is. Bd. arrears due on a maintenance order for the support of his wife, John Hitchcox, age thirtyfive, height about 5 ft. 5 in., labourer or carter, native of New Zealand, spare build, fair complexion, dark-brown hair, grey eyes, small waxed moustache, which is very fair.
