PERSONS WANTED.

Kaitaia. —l6th ultimo, on warrant of commitment to Auckland Prison for twenty-one days in default of paying £3 17s. 6d. fine and costs for supplying liquor to Natives, Frederick Cartwright, age about forty-three, height 5 ft. 10 in., weight about 12 stone, dark complexion, long black hair inclined to curl, blue eyes, large nose, medium build, supposed Australian. He has a slight impediment in his speech. (See Police Gazette, 1910, page 381.)

Queen Street Whare (Auckland). warrant for being absent without leave from the s.s. “Pakeha,” Henry Graham, age twenty-eight, height 5 ft. lljin., seaman, native of England, medium build, fresh complexion, brown hair and eyes, soar on left thumb ; dressed in blue suit and cap, American style.

Auckland. —2nd instant, on warrant for failing to make adequate provision for the future maintenance of his unborn illegitimate child, Archibald Fox, age twentyfour, height 6ft., labourer, native of New Zealand, slight build, fresh complexion, fair hair, biue eyes, one little finger deformed; fond of races. Complainant, Rose Taylor, Otahuhu.

Auckland. —21st January last, on warrant of commitment to Auckland Prison for one month in default of paving £lO 13s. balance of fine and costs for betting on Takapuna Racecourse, Frank or Harry Hewson, age twentyeight, height 5 ft. 7 in., seaman, native of New Zealand, medium build, fair hair and complexion, blue eyes, tattoomark on one wrist. Auckland. —11th August last, on warrant of commitment to Auckland Prison for seven days in default of paying £2 3s. fine and costs for theft, May Williams, alias Williamson, age forty-one, height 5 ft. 6£in., waitress, native of Tasmania, stout build, fresh complexion, black hair, brown eyes, one upper tooth gold-filled. Auckland. —14th July last, on warrant of commitment to Auckland Prison for fourteen days in default of paying £6 fine and costs for discharging firearms in a public place, William Barker, age twenty-five, height 5 ft. 8 in., steward, native of England, medium build, pale complexion, dark-brown hair.

Auckland. Bth instant, on warrant for failing to maintain his illegitimate child, George Russell, age twenty-five, height 5 ft. 4 in., fireman, native of England, stout build, fair complexion, curly black hair, brown eyes. Complainant, Eileen Kelly, Rimu Street, New Lynn.

Auckland.— 6th August last, on warrant of commitment to Auckland Prison for seven days in default of paying £2 10s. fine and costs for a breach of his prohibition order, Robert John Preston, age fifty-six, height 5 ft. 9 in., gardener, native of England, medium build, fair complexion, grey hair, brown eyes, left little finger deformed. Auckland. —3lst August last, on warrant of commitment to Auckland Prison for six months in default of paying £52 16s. arrears due on a maintenance order for the support of his wife, John Strickland, alias Kelly, age thirtythree, height 5 ft. 7 in., hairdresser, native of Australia, slight build, fair complexion, brown hair, grey eyes, two fingers of right hand have been injured. Auckland —2lst July last, on warrant of commitment to Auckland Prison for forty-eight hours in default of paving 18s. fine and costs for keeping an unregistered dog, William Martin, age twenty-eight, height 5 ft. 10 in. labourer, native of New Zealand, stout build, dark hair and complexion, blue eyes. Auckland. —2sth June last, on warrant of commitment to Auckland Prison for forty-eight hours in default of paying 13s. fine and costs for a breach of the Auckland City By-laws, Frederick Smith, age thirty eight, height 5 ft. 6 in., cook, native of New Zealand, medium build, fair complexion and hair, blue eyes, Roman nose.

Auckland. —24th July last, for being a rogue and a vagabond, Graham (name probably fictitious), ago about, twenty-five, height 5 ft. 6 in., medium build, fair complexion, shifty eyes, thin face, high cheek-bones, limps slightly on right leg; well dressed in grey suit and soft-felt hat. Accused obtained ss. from the Reverend R. Inglis, Parnell, by means of a false representation. No warrant.

Auckland. —29th August last, on warrant of commitment to Auckland Prison for one month in default of paying £5 3s. fine and costs for obscene language, Thomas Henderson Ross, age fifty-six, height sft. 3Jin., labourer, native of England, medium build, sallow complexion, grey hair, blue eyes. Mount Eden. —Between the 14th and 25th July last, on warrant for carnally knowing Violet Ivy -Johnstone, a girl of fifteen years of age, George McCauley, age about twenty-five, height 5 ft. 10 in., engineer and showman, supposed native of New Zealand, medium build, dark hair and complexion, black eyes ; dressed in a brown suit and a soft black hat. Epsom’.—29th ultimo, for wilfully exposing himself to Emma Walker, Lillie Walker, and Mary Kite, Man (name unknown), age about thirty, height about 5 fr.. 9 in., thin build, wearing a fawn overcoat, soft-felt hat, and dark trousers. No warrant.

Pukekohe.—3rd ultimo, on warrant of commitment to Auckland Prison for seven days in default of paying £2 7s. fine and costs for a breach of his prohibition order, James Stephens, age thirty-four, height sft. loin., labourer, native of New Zealand, slim build, fair complexion, brown hair, blue eyes. He is supposed to have gone to Blenheim.

Hamilton. —lsth ultimo, on warrant of commitment to Auckland Prison for one month in default of paying £2 3s. costs for theft, Matthew Michael Lane, age thirty-six, height 5 ft. 6£ in., driver and dealer, native of Wales, medium build, dark complexion, dark hair turning grey, blue eyes; usually dressed in dark suit, soft hat, and rough dark-grey overcoat ; fond of drink. Te Kuiti. — 26th July last, on warrant of commitment to Auckland Prison for seven days in default of paying £1 10s. fine and costs for a breach of his prohibition order, Joseph Riley, age fifty-five, height 5 ft. 7Jin., labourer, native of Nova Scotia, medium build, fresh complexion, dark hair, hazel eyes, broken nose ; shabby appearance.

Taumarunui. —l4th August last, on warrant of commitment to Auckland Prison for one month in default of paying £lO 65., balance of fine and costs for failing to notify the vendor that liquor was for a no-license area, Edmond Griffin, age thirty, height 6 ft., bushman, native of New Zealand, stout build, fresh complexion, fair hair, brown eyes; smart athletic appearance. Te Puke.— l3th ultimo, on warrant for deserting his wife, Anders William Anderson, age forty-eight, height 5 ft. 6in., labourer, native of Sweden, stout build, dark hair turning grey, fresh complexion, grey eyes, nose turned slightly to one side, soar on one forearm; dressed in grey suit and grey soft hat; speaks English well. Complainant, Frances Anderson, nurse, Te Puke.

Napier.— 6th instant, on warrant for failing to comply with the terms of a maintenance order for the support of his illegitimate child, John Owen Crowther, age twenty-nine, height 5 ft. 7 in., driver and labourer, native of New Zealand, medium build; dirty appearance; fond of drink; a half-caste negro. (See Police Gazette, 1914, page 214.)

Napier.— Bth instant, on warrant for failing to comply with the terms of a maintenance order for the support of his two sons, Henry Lorigan, alias Thomas Burke, age fifty-one, height 5 ft. sfin., labourer, native of New Zealand, medium build, fresh complexion, grey hair, bluegrey eyes. Hastings. —3oth ultimo, on warrant for failing to maintain his three children, Henry Joseph Rees, age fifty-one, height 5 ft. 9 in., engineer, native of England, slight build, sallow complexion, brown hair, blue eyes, prominent nose ; dressed in a blue suit and soft hat; walks with a stoop. His photograph is filed in the Inspector’s Office, Napier.

Waverley. —24th April last, that a notice of fine may be served on him for a breach of the Defence Act, Walter Wagner, age nineteen, height about sft. 6in., farm labourer, native of New Zealand, thin build, fair hair, blue eyes; dressed in dark suit and cap.

Otaki. —2sth ultimo, on warrant for theft of a cheque (recovered) for £64, the property of A. Robinson, Thomas Apps, age about twenty-two, height 5 ft. 7 in., labourer, native of New Zealand, medium build, fresh complexion, abscess-scar on one cheek (supposed right), light-brown hair ; dressed in blue suit and black soft hat, and wearing fancy kid boots. He may have gone to Sydney.

Wellington.— Bth ultimo, on warrant of commitment to Wellington Prison for forty-eight hours in default of paying 10s. 6d. balance of fine and costs for drunkenness, Alfred Wilson, age forty-six, height 5 ft. 10 in., cook, native of Scotland, medium build, fresh complexion, brown hair, blue eyes, small mouth ; dressed in a dark-grey suit and cap and wearing tan boots.

Wellington.— sth instant, on warrant for deserting from the ship “ Eurasia,” Recco Yenanzio, age nineteen, seaman, native of Italy, stout build, fresh complexion, blue eyes.

Wellington. —sth instant, on warrant foe deserting from the ship “ Eurasia,” Ballone Gavino, age forty-one, height about 5 ft. 8 in., seaman, native of Italy, slim build, swarthy complexion, dark hair.

Wellington. — Charles Henderson, thefc: Accused is not with Barton’s Circus, but may be found with Ridgway’s Circus. (See Police Gazette, 1914, page 588.)

Wellington. —3oth ultimo, on warrant of commitment to Auckland Prison for one month in default of paying £33 arrears due on a maintenance order for the support of his wife, Jesse Harlen, age fifty-three, height sft. 4J in. baker, native of New Zealand, stout build, fresh complexion, dark hair, grey eyes, scar on top and back of head, “ M.H.” on left forearm. He is supposed to be employed by the Auckland City Council.

Wellington, —2nd instant, on warrant for deserting from the s.s. “ Kaikoura,” Thomas Whiting, age twenty-four, height 5 ft. 4in., trimmer, native of England, slight build, pale complexion, fair hair, grey eyes.

Wellington. —lst instant, on warrant for deserting from the s.s. “Orari,” Joseph Davies, age thirty-five, height 5 ft. 2 in., seaman, native of Engiand, fresh complexion, ginger moustache.

Murchison. —22nd ultimo, on warrant for failing to make adequate provision for the future maintenance of his unborn illegitimate child, John Dwyer, age twenty-one, height sft. 2in., labourer, native of New Zealand, medium build, fresh complexion, black curly hair, blue eyes, scars on each hand. Complainant, Mary James, Murchison.

Ghbistchurch. —27th August last, on warrant for false pretences, Kenneth Armstrong, age twenty-two, height 5 ft. 7 in., blacksmith, native of New Zealand, strong build, dark complexion, dark hair, brown eyes. Accused obtained goods to the value of £5 16s. from Messrs. H. Berry and Co., tailors and outfitters, 90 Cashel Street, by falsely representing that he was a chauffeur employed toy Mr. W. 0. Rutherford, of Montrose Station, Culverden. He is said to have left for the Chatham Islands on the 28th August last. (See Police Gazette, 1913, page 388.)

Ashburton. Frank Meagher, alias Frederick Mahoney, theft : It has been ascertained by the Criminal Registration Branch that accused is at present undergoing sentence of three years and a half hard labour for breaking and entering, and stealing in a dwelling, at Benalla, Victoria. He has assumed the name Frank Daley. (See Police Gazette, 1912, page 538.) (C.R. 14/492.)

Dunedin. 26th ultimo, for failing to maintain his illegitimate child, William Densley, age about thirtyfour, height about oft. 5 in., fisherman, native of Australia, medium build, fair hair and complexion. He has failed to appear in answer to a summons. If located, an immediate telegraphic communication is to be sent to the Superintendent of Police, Dunedin. Complainant, Minnie Ann Geddeson, care of Mrs. Eceles, Maclaggan Street, Dunedin.

Dunedin.— 3rd ultimo, on warrant of commitment to Dunedin Prison for three days in default of paying £1 3s. fine and costs for drunkenness, Thomas Farrell, age forty-eight, height 5 ft. 10 in., labourer, native of New Zealand, medium build, fair complexion, brown hair, blue eyes. Invercargill.— 26th August last, that he may be served with a notice of order for the support of his daughter in Caversham Industrial School, Charles Thomas Miller, age about thirty-six, height about 5 ft. 7 in., ironmoulder, supposed native of New Zealand, dark hair, medium build ; quiet manner. He sometimes wears a band ring on his right little finger.

Invercargill.—l9th August last on warrant of commitment to Invercargill Prison for two months in default of paying £34 7s. Bd. arrears due in connection with the payment of confinement expenses and support of his illegitimate child, Tomati Fisher, age twenty, height 5 ft. 7fin., labourer, native of New Zealand, stout build, dark complexion, black hair, brown eyes.
