PERSONS WANTED.

Avondale.— 24th July last, on warrant for false pretences, T. H. Cliff, hawier, age forty to forty-five, height about 5 ft. 8 in., stout build, dark hair turning grey, blue eyes. Accused while hawking inferior goods at Swanson induced one George Peterson to purchase two suit-lengths from him for £2 10s. by falsely representing that he was travelling for G. W. Ross and Co., and that this firm would make up the suits for £1 each. It has since been ascertained that no such firm exists.

Auckland. — Bert Kemp, failing to provide : It has been ascertained by the Auckland police that the accused is now in Sydney. (See Police Gazette., 1914, page 587.)

Auckland. —26th ultimo, that he may be arrested and returned to the prison from which he was released upon probationary license under the Crimes Amendment Act, 1910, Robert Charles Stevenson, alias Kingham, alias L>ouisson, labourer, native of Australia, age thirty-nine, height sft. 9Jin., medium build, fair complexion, brown hair, grey eyes, soar on forehead. He may endeavour to join the Expeditionary Force. His arrest is desired.

Hamilton.— lßth ultimo, that a distress warrant for £lO 11s. 6d. costs for attempted suicide may be executed upon his effects, John Kerr, labourer, native of England, age thirty-six, height 5 ft. 7 in., medium build, fresh complexion, brown hair, grey eyes, clean-shaved ; tip of left forefinger missing; quiet manner. He may be identical with offender of the same name referred to in Police Gazette, 1914, page 527.

Whakatane. —About 30th April last, on warrant for false pretences, Ru Vallance, bridge-carpenter, age about thirty-six, height 5 ft. 9 in., slight build, fair complexion, fair hair, clean-shaved; usually dressed in alightsuitandgreycap; walks with a stoop. Accused obtained a buggy from Alfred Thorne for £4, on the representation that he had ability to pay for it, and would pay for it on the following day, but failed to do so. He may be accompanied by his wife (height 5 ft. 11 in., dark complexion, dark hair, bad front teeth) and three children, aged respectively eleven years, eight years, and one year.

Gisborne. —25th ultimo, on warrant for failing without reasonable cause to provide adequate maintenance for his wife, George Henry Woskett, engine-driver and fireman, native of New Zealand, age forty, height 5 ft. 6 in., medium build, dark complexion, light-brown hair, blue eyes, sandy moustache; two flags on left arm; heart, “G.W.,” and “A” on right arm.
