Hamilton. —On or about the 22nd November last, on warrant for theft and forgery, Man (name unknown), age about twenty-eight, height 5 ft. 10 in., medium build, respectable appearance, clean-shaved; dressed in a darkblue suit and hard hat. Accused forged the name of O. M. Muir to a postal note for £l, which he had stolen from him and uttered same to Mr. Douglas, restaurantkeeper, who can identify him.

Otorohanga. —22nd October last, on warrant for theft of a chestnut mare, four years of age, about 15 hands, white star on forehead, branded “65” on off shoulder; a new stock saddle, large size, knee-pads, nickel mounts ; and a bridle : total value, £3O ss. Gisborne. —December last, that he may be served with a notice of fine for a breach of the Defence Act, Francis Price, age twenty, height 5 ft. 11 in., canvasser, native of New Zealand, thin build, long hair well oiled, parted in centre, pale complexion; well dressed, usually in dark suit, straw hat, and white-canvas shoes.

Gisborne. —llth June last, on Judge’s warrant of commitment to Auckland Prison for three months for failing to pay £l4 ss. fine and costs for assault causing actual bodily harm, David Hughes, age twenty-two, height 5 ft. BJin., miner, native of Australia, stout build, fresh complexion, dark hair, blue eyes, flat nose ; usually dressed in brown clothes ; well known on the west coast. Napier. —l7th ultimo, on two warrants of commitment to Napier Prison for forty-eight hours and seven days respectively in default of paying 12s. 6d. and £1 ss, fine and costs for drunkenness, David McGee, age thirty-two, height 5 ft. 5 in., grocer and baker’s a-sistant, native of Australia, slim build, pale complexion, light-brown hair, blue grey eyes mole on right cheek, scar under chin, face covered with heat-rash ; dressed in a brownish-grey suit and cap.

Napier.— 4th ultimo, on two warrants of commitment to Napier Prison for (1) forty-eight hours in default of paying £1 ss. fine and costs for drunkenness, and (2) fourteen days m default of paying £3 9s. 6d. medical expenses and costs for helpless drunkenness, Arthur Burch, age fortyone, height 5 ft. 10 in., steward and barman, native of England, medium build, dark hair and complexion, brown eyes, “5.0.” and “A. 8.” on left forearm; usually dressed in black clothes.

Wanganui. —llth June last, on warrant for failing to comply with the terms of a maintenance order for the support of his mother, William Alfred Bates, age thirtynine, height about 5 ft. 8 in., labourer, native of New Zealand, medium build, fair hair and complexion, blue eyes, stooping shoulders ; usually dressed in dark suit and soft hat.

Bull’s. —lßth ultimo, on warrant for theft of a Bradbury motor-bicycle, free wheel, front wheel broken, back wheel has a piece of wire attached, value £4O, the property of Ranga Ratana, Fred or Ted Gray, age nineteen, height 5 ft. 6 in., labourer, aboriginal, stout build, curly black hair. Was employed at Barton’s Circus.

Woodville. —Man (name unknown), indecent exposure : There is but little doubt that this offence was committed by Trevor or Thomas Williams, alias Wilson, &c., referred to in Police Gazette, 1913, page 510. It has been ascertained by Constable Tanner, Woodville police, chat he passed through Woodville on the 20th September last. Complainants cannot identify him, so his arrest is not desired. Pahiatua. —About January, 1918, that he may be compelled to pay £l7 15s. arrears due for the maintenance of his son, an inmate of the Stoke Industrial School, Andrew Alexander Clarke, age thirty-eight, height 5 ft. 6 in., labourer, native of England, fair freckled complexion, light sandy hair, blue-grey eyes, ship on left leg, front teeth missing.
