Auckland.— l7th ultimo, on warrant for failing to comply with a maintenance order for the support of his illegitimate child, William Charles Hailwood, age twenty-three, height sft. Auckland.— 4th January last, for theft of three wrenches, a pair of pliers, and a punch, total value 10s. (recovered), the property of Robert Cochrane, insurance agent, 73 West Street, J. Brennan, age forty-five to fifty, height 5 ft. 6 in., supposed labourer, supposed native of England, medium build, fair complexion, brown hair and moustache ; fairly well dressed in dark suit. Accused stole the abovementioned articles from complainant’s bicycle, and sold them to Daniel Lindsay, second-hand dealer. No warrant.

Manaia. —22nd January last, on warrant of commitment to military custody for twenty-eight days in default of paying £3 12s. fine and costs for a breach of the Defence Act, Harold Young, age twenty, height 6 ft., dairyfactory hand, native of New Zealand, medium build, fresh complexion, brown hair, grey-blue eyes, well set up ; dressed in grey suit and cap. When arrested he is to be handed over to the nearest Defence Area Sergeant-major.

Wellington.— l6th March, 1909, that he may be compelled to provide for the maintenance of his child in the Wellington Receiving Home, Albert Edward Hunt, age thirty, height 5 ft. 3 in., bricklayer and labourer, native of New Zealand, medium build, fair complexion, light-brown hair, hazel eyes, scar on right cheek, white patch of hair on back of head. Wellington. —l9th ultimo, on warrant for deserting from the s.s. “ Waimate,” W. Herbert, age thirty-five, height 5 ft. 6 in., seaman, stout build, fair complexion and moustache.

Wellington. —2oth December last, on warrant for a breach of the Bankruptcy Act, Abraham Wittels, age forty-five to fifty, height 5 ft. 8 in., draper, a Russian Jew, medium build, dark hair and eyes, dark sallow complexion ; usually clean-shaved and dressed in dark or grey clothes and soft-felt hat. Accused was declared a bankrupt on the 27th January last. He left New Zealand for Sydney on the 20th December last, taking with him property to the value of £2O that ought by law to be divided amongst his creditors. He is supposed to have had from £4OO to £BOO in his possession when he left. Extradition expenses guaranteed from any part of Australia.
