PROPERTY STOLEN.

Auckland. —Between the 15th and 31st October last from a building in course of erection at Mount Roskill, the property of ALFRED JOSEPH WILLIAMS, carpenter, a wooden trying-plane 18 in. long, a wooden jack-plane about 15 in. long, both branded “A. J.W.”; value, 12s. 6d. Identifiable.

Queen Street Wharf (Auckland). — Between the 7th and 11th July last, from the hold of the s.s. “ Monowai,” the property of KIRKCALDIE AND STAINES, drapers, a ladies’ black fur stole, about 6 ft. long and 9 in. wide, value £l4 ; and four ladies’ black costumes, value £l6.

Hamilton. — 7th instant, from Victoria Street, the property of JOHN KENNETH MURRAY GILMOUU, clerk, a gentlemen’s nearly new Comet bicycle, “33826” in gold letters on hub, black-enamelled frame with gold lines, black mud-guards with gold lines, nickel stays, rat-trap pedals, free wheel; value, £l3. Napier.— 2nd or 3rd ultimo, from the bunk of WILLIAM BUCHANAN, second cook s.s. “ Monowai,” a gentlemen’s 9ct. gold American open-faced keyless watch, gold gilt dial with flowers on it; a 9 ct. gold double-curb chain with swivel at each end, a ring pendant attached, with gold square and compass inside of it, value £7 10s.; and £7 17s. 6d. in money.

Napier. —9th ultimo, from outside the Provincial Hotel, the property of HENRY HOLMAN, labourer, a gentlemen’s black-enamelled free-wheel bicycle, No. 309447, two rimbrakes and mud-guards, bell attached; value, £5. Identi fiable.

Nelson. —2lst October last, at Dovedale, the property of E. BURNETT, labourer, a cheque for £4 55., drawn by William Cowan on the National Bank of New Zealand, Nelson, in favour of E. Burnett, Dovedale. The cheque was made out on the 19th, and was lost by the complainant. On the 21st October last the cheque was cashed at Samuel Cate’s bootshop, Motueka, by a man who gave his name as G. McCabe (name supposed fictitious), age about twentyfive, height 5 ft. 6 in., stout build, dark eyes and complexion, full over the eyes, small dark moustache ; was wearing a darkish-coloured tweed cap.

Blackball. —Between the 20th and 28th ultimo, from a case en route from Christchurch to Blackball, the property of PHILIP ROGERS, draper, four pairs of light chrome boots, Derby shape, leather - lined, sizes 6,7 J, and 8; value about £3.

Christchurch. 27th ultimo, from the dwelling of THOMAS STEPHENSON, carter, Addington, a gentlemen’s silver lever hunting - watch, No. 215637, case well worn, “T. Stephenson” scratched on inside of back case; value £2 10s. Identifiable.

Lyttelton.— SAMUEL HILLIER’S coat stolen: It has been ascertained by Acting - Detective Carney, Lyttelton police, that Ernest Hawkes, a steward on the s.s. “lonic” committed the offence. He sold the coat and stick in Southampton, and is now in England. (See Police Gazette, 1912, page 462.)

Pleasant Point. 6rh instant, from outside Carter’s bicycle-shop, the property of ALFRED SURRIDGE, painter, a gentlemen’s Rodger bicycle, 24in. frame, anew step behind, new handle-grips on handle-bars, red cover on front wheel; value, £lO. Identifiable.

Coalgate. Coleridge, the property of the NEW ZEALAND GOVERNMENT, a dark-brown half-draught mare, five years old, white blaze on nose, “93 ” branded under the mane (the “3 ” indistinct) ; value, £2O. Identifiable.

Dunedin. —llth instant, from the Arcade, the property of the NEW ZEALAND GOVERNMENT, a gentlemen’s black-enamelled B.S.A. bicycle, No. 764, Eadie free wheel, straight handles, old grips, Brittannia tires ; value, £5. Identifiable.

Dunedin. —29th ultimo, from the bunk of THOMAS WALKER, fireman, s.s. “ Mokoia,” a gentlemen’s silver hunting keyless watch, No. 201423, “ T. W.” scratched on front case, silver chain with small links, small silver medal with gold front attached; also a metal sovereign-case with compass on front: value, £6. Identifiable.
