PERSONS WANTED.

Auckland. —20th July last, on warrant for failing to provide f>r t.he maintenance of Ins illegitimate child, Robert McPherson, age thirty, height 5 ft. 6 in. or 7 in., strong build, fresh complexion, dark Uair, brown eyes, fair moustache, prominent features, good set of teeth. He recently resided at Queenstown.

Auckland.—Bth July last, on warrant of commitment to Wellington Piison for seven days in default of paying £3 4s. fine and cos's for a breach of his prohibition order, Charles Johnston, age thirtv-nine, height 5 ft. BJin., labourer, native of West Indies, a Nearo, copper complexion, black hair, brown eyes, medium build, scar on left side of face ; fond of drink. (See Police Gazette, 1911, page 42.)

Auckland. — Arthur Gollar, wanted on warrant for failing to provide for the future maintenance of his unborn illegitimate child : Warrant suspended until further notice. (See Police Gazette, 1912, page 487.)

Gisborne. —sth instant, on warrant for being absent without leave from the s.s. “ Holmdale,” John Birkett, age about forty-six, height 5 ft. lin., seaman, native of England, medium build, round shoulders, fair complexion, brown hair and eyes, thin features, small light moustaohe.

Napier. —loth instant, on warrant for deserting the ship “ Waltrante,” Jimie Jacson, age twenty-two, height 5 ft. 7in , fireman, native of Greece, s ight build, long black hair, tallow complexion, clean-shaved. A reward of £1 will be paid for his apprehension.

Napier. —llth June last, on warrant for theft of 16 u from James Alexander and Son, bakers, William Graham, age twenty-eight (looks younger), height 5 ft. 8 in., cart-driver, native of England, very fair hair and mousiache, red cheeks, no teeth ; smart appearance ; speaks with Scotch accent; dressed in dark suit and overcoat and Mack hard hat. Offender obtained the sum of 16s. from Mary Ann Stork°y on terms requiring him to account to his employers for the same, but omitted to do so. He is super sed to have gor e to Hastings. He was previously employed on a farm at Paeroa.

Stratford.— William James, wanted on warrant for false pretences : It has been ascertained by DetectiveSergeant Sidcels that offender is identical whh William James Imrie, referred to in Police Gazette, 1911, pages 18 aud 222. On 7th instant he left Sandon for Feildmg, and was earning a large swag. He is wearing a bushy dark beard and moustache, and at Wanganui assumed the name of William Jones. Dannevirke.— Bth instant, on warrant for failing to provide for the future maintenance of bis unborn illegitimate child, Alfred Hickson, age abmt twenty-four, height sfc. Sin. or 9in., labourer, native of New Zealand, medium build, fresh complexion, clean-shaved except brown moustache, very red full face, light-blue eves; generally wears a dark suit and black soft-felt hat. He is supposed to be in the King-country, and was recently employed at Umutaoroa cutting firewood. Complainant, Catherine Morgan.

Dannevirke, —l6fch instant, that she may be compelled to pay £23 16s. arrears due for maintenance of her child in the industrial school, Mary Taylor, age thirty-seven, height sft. 4 in., domestic, native of New Zealand, dark complexion and hair, blue eyes, straight nose, weak eyes (wears blue glasses), small scar on right little finger and right shin. (See Police Gazette, 1912, page 278.) On the 26th April last she left Dannevirke for Palmerston North.

Masterton.— l4th instant, on warrant for obtaining an overcoat and the sum of £4 12s. 6d. from Nicholas Saba, draper, by means of a valueless cheque, Samuel Yance (name probably fictitious), age about thirty, height about 5 ft. 10 in., supposed native of England, fresh complexion, stout build, light brown hair cut in American style, full round face, clean-shavpd ; dressed in grey suit. He may be identical with John Kane, wanted at Huntly. (See Police Gazette, 1912, page 459.) See next paragraph.

Masterton. —l4th instant, on warrant for obtaining a pair of boots, value £1 55., and £4 11s. in ca=h from Joseph Carpenter, boot-importer, by means of a valueless cheque, James Farquer, age about thirty, height a,bout 5 ft. 9 in., supposed native of England, stout build, tanned fresh complexion, light-brown hair cut in American style, full round face, clean-shaved ; dressed in grey suit, and may be wearing new boots and a Hydrotite overcoat. He may be identical with Samuel Yance referred to in preceding paragraph, and with John Kane, wanted at Huntly. (See Police Gazette, 1912, page 459.)

Petone. —16th ultimo, on warrant of commitment to Wellington Prison for forty-eight hours in default of paying 13s. fine and costs for drunkenness, Thomas Deveridge, age twenty-seven, height 5 ft. 4 in., labourer, native of Mew South Wales, fair complexion, fair hair, hazel eyes, large scar on right knee, clean-shaved ; generally wears dark suit and cap. (See Police Gazette, 1912, page 379.)

Lyttelton. from s.s. “ Turakina,” C. West, age thirty, height 5 ft. 7 in., fireman, native of England, dark hair and complexion, front teeth missing, slovenly walk ; was wearing blue cap, black and white muffler, and striped coat. A reward of £2 will be paid for his apprehension.

Timaru. —l9th ultimo, that he may be interviewed and warned that if he fails to comply with the terms of his probation he will be arrested and brought before the Court for sentence, Daniel O'Sullivan, age twenty-nine, height 5 ft. 4f in., labourer, native of New Zealand, medium build, dark complexion, black hair, light-brown eyes, small mouth, scar on right side of chin, mole on left cheek, scar on left shoulder. (See Police Gazette, 1912, page 510.) On 12th August last offender was admitted to twelve months’ probation for breaking and entering. Inquiry by the Probation Officer, Timaru.

Port Chalmers.— Between the 14th and 16th instant, on warrants for deserting from the s.s. “ Opawa,” W. Carpenter, age thirty-five, height sft. 10in., native of England, slight build, brownish hair. A. Carpenter, age thirty-seven, height 5 ft. 9 in., native of England, slight build, brown hair. Edward Thomas Smale, age thirtyfive, height 5 ft. 10^in., fireman, native of England, blue eyes, brown hair, dark complexion, scar on right arm. A. Quinn, age twenty-seven, height 5 ft. 5 in., fireman, native of Scotland, brown hair, grey eyes, medium build. Herbert Chalmers, age twenty, height 5 ft. 6 in., fireman, native of England, fair complexion, blue eyes, brown hair, girl on right arm. Frederick McAdams, age twenty-three, height 5 ft. 10in., native of New South Wales, fireman, slight build, dark complexion, dark hair, blue eyes, anchor through heart on right arm. William Henry Crean, age thirty-one, height 5 ft. 9£in., fireman, native of New South Wales, medium build, fair complexion, fair hair, blue eyes. A reward of £2 each will be paid for their apprehension.

Dunedin. —2nd ultimo, on two warrants of commitment to Dunedin Prison for fourteen days on charges of mischief and breach of the peace in default of paying £2 ss. 6d. fine and costs, Michael Ambrose Buckley, age twentyseven, height 5 ft. 8 in., labourer, native of New Zealand, medium build, fair complexion, fair hair, blue eyes; dressed in dark suit. Clinton.— l3th instant, that proceeding may be taken against him under the Chattels Transfer Act, Charles

Wragge, age about forty, height 5 ft. 8 in. or 9 in., farmer, native of New Zealand, stout build, reddish hair, reddish moustache only, stutters a little when speaking; generally wears a dark-tweed suit, soft light-coloured felt hat, and soft green-coloured shirt. He always complains of being ill. He was last seen at Clydevale in the beginning of last month, and he is now suspected of having disposed of five draught horses over which the New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Company had a lien.
