PERSONS WANTED.

Auckland.— 3rd July last, on warrant of commitment to Auckland Prison for seven days in default of paying £l ss. Costs for a breach of the City By-laws, Charles Fitzpatrick Lindsay, age thirty-nine, height 5 ft. 9£in., labourer, native of New Zealand, medium build, fresh complexion, light brown curly hair, blue eyes. He was fined £1 195., and paid £l, which, with costs added now leaves a balance due of £1 ss.

Auckland. 3rd ultimo, on warrant of commitment to Auckland Prison for seven days in default of paying £2 3s. fine and oosts for a breach of his prohibition order, Michael Martin, age thirty-one, height 5 ft. 6 in., tailor, native of New Zealand, medium build, fresh complexion, brown eyes, dark curly hair.

He was last seen in Auckland in January. 1912.

Auckland. —4th instant, that a summons may be served on him for disobeying an order of Court to pay ss. a week towards the suoport of his child in the industrial school, James Frame, age tbirr,y-five, height 5 ft. 8 in., engineer, native of Scotland, medium build, dark complexion, black hair turning grey, dark-brown eyes, “ J. Photograph filed in the Inspector’s Office, Auckland. He is supposed to have sailed by the s.s. “Zealandia” on the 30th ultimo for America under an assumed name.

Otahuhu.— l2th July last, on warrant of commitment to Auckland Piison for seven days in default of paying £2 13s. fine and costs for failing to attend a training camp, John Bradley, age twenty-one, height 5 ft. 6 in., labomec and grocer’s a-sistant, native of New Zealand, medium build, fair complexion and hair, light-blue eyes, clean-shaved.

Hamilton. —Ist July last, on warrant for false pretences on Mess s. Gruar, Morton, and Sample (Limited), William Murphy, age twenty-six, height 5 ft. in., labourer, native oi New Zealand, slim build, fair ha r aud compl xion, brown eyes, fair moustacne ; dressed when last seen in grey suit and cap. His rela ives reside at Cheviot, Canterbury. On the above date offender obtained a tiavelling-bag, two straps, a razor, and razor-strop, value £1 18s., by falsely rei resenting that his empljyer, Mr. Missen, had authorized him to obtain the articles.

Thames. —26fch ultimo, on warrant for obtaining money and board and lodgings amounting to £2 18s. 6d. from William Lang Dmnerly. licensee Pacific Hotel, by false pretences, James Graham Hewitt, age thirty-nine, height 5 ft. 8§ in , carter, native of England; dressed in browntweed suit and a soft brown-felt hat, light boots. Off nder obtained the above amount by falsely representing that £ls was due to him by the Kauri Timber Company for work done.

Woodville. —Phil Marsh, wanted on warrant for theft and illegally betiing: It has been ascertained by Detective-Sergeant Cassells, Mount Cook police, that the offender is at present in Perth, Western Australia, where he is a bookmaker. (Sae Police Gazette, 1908, page 217.)

Wanganui. sth instant, on warrant for failing to provide for the maintenance of his illegitimate child, Louis Grant, age about twenty-five, height about 5 fc. 10 in., stonemason and builders’ labourer, native of New Zealand, medium build, fresh complexion, dark curly hair, clean-shaved ; generally wears a dark suit and cap. His parents reside at Oamaru. Complainant, Rose Anna McCann, Wanganui.

Palmerston North, —sth instant, that he may be compelled to comply with an order of Court for the support of his brother in the Stoke Orphanage, James O’Grady, age about twenty-six, height 5 ft. 7 in. or 8 in., labourer, native of New Zealand, medium build, sallow complexion, black hair, brown eyes, clean-shaved; generally wears a blue or dark sac suit and hard felt hat. He was heard of about the beginning of last month at Dannevirke.

Denniston. —9th instant, on warrant of commitment to Wellington Prison for one month in default of paying £3 7s. fine and costs for playing two-up, Thomas Bennett, age twentv-eight, height 5 ft. 9 in., labourer and spieler, supposed native of New Zealand, very fair complexion, lightblue eyes, sandy h»ir (curly); dresses well in brown suit with stripe in it. He is a well-known gambDr, and may be found on some co-operative works, or working in a mine. On the 2nd instant he left Denniston for Westport.

Christchurch. —30th June last, on warrant for theft of £79 4s. 4d., the money of the trustees of George Payling’s estate, Leopold Harold Wreathall, age about twentysix, height about 5 ft. 9 in., agent and clerk, native of New Zealand, medium build, dark hair, fresh complexion, thin features, high cheek-bones; usually wears a dark-tweed suit and hard hat or cap, and light-brown waterproof. He received the money to pay the German Bay Dairy Company for cheese, but appropriated it to his own use. Another charge pending.

Timaru. — 12th instant, on warrants for being absent without leave from the s.s. “ Tnrakina,” G. W. Miller and P. Ballantyne. First: Age about thirty-five, height about 5 ft. 7 in., trimmer, native of England, slight build, fair complexion, brown hair, clean-shaved. Second : Age about thirty-five, height about 6 ft., leading fireman, native of England, well built, dark-brown hair, clean-shaved except heavy dark moustache, peculiar look in eyes.

Dunedin. —About 27th ultimo, on warrant for failing to provide his wife, Emma Weir, and children with adequate means of support, Thomas Weir, age thirty-seven, height about 5 ft. 7in., hairdresser, native of New Zea land, slight build, fair complexion and hair, bald on top of head, fair moustache ; generally wears dark suit and hard hat. A prohibition order was taken out against him at Levin in April last. He was working at his trade at Port Chalmers up to the 27th ultimo, and left, saying he was gorng to Timaru or North Island.

Port Chalmers. —9th instant, on warrant for deserting from the s.s. “ Opawa," John Darrell, age twenty-eight, height 5 ft, 10 in., fireman, native of New Zealand, medium build, brown eyes, black hair, dark complexion, small dark moustache, dagger, horse-shoe, “J. L. H.,” and heart tattooed on left arm, “S.DJ.E.G.” and “J. L.,” &c., on right arm; dressed in dark suit and brownish coloured hat.” A reward of £2 will be paid for his apprehension.

Port Chalmers.—7th instant, on warrants for deserting from the s.s. “ Opawa,” F. Johnston, G. Thomson,

T. Thomas. First: Age thirty, height 5 ft. 8 in., butcher, native of London, England, stout build, red hair, cleanshaved. Second: Age twenty-three, height 5 ft. 6 in., steward, native of England, slim build, clean-shaved, fait comolexion. Third: Age fifty, height 5 fc. 7 in., A. 8., native of England, medium build, dark complexion, short dark whiskers. A reward of £2 each will be paid for their apprehension.

Port Chalmers. —7th instant, on warrants for deserting from the s.s “ Opawa,” J. Hatley, age forty-five, height about 5 ft. 3 in., A. 8., fair complexion, clean-shaved, bald. F. Butler, age thirty, height 5 fc. 4in., trimmer, clean-shaved. A. Adams, age twenty-five, height 5 ft. 4 in., trimmer, fair complexion, light moustache. A reward of £2 each will be paid for their apprehension.
