PERSONS WANTED.

Auckland.—lst instant, on warrant for deserting from the s.s. “ Bemuera,” William Snellgrove, age thirtythree, height 5 ft. lin., greaser, native of London, fair complexion, brown hair and eyes. Absconded from the vessel at Lyttelton on the above-mentioned date. A reward of £2 is offered for his apprehension.

Auckland.—Bth instant, on warrant for deserting from the s.s. “Bemuera,” Lawrence Sinclair, age twentytwo, height 5 ft. 10 in., quartermaster, native of Scotland, fair complexion, brown hair, blue eyes, “L. S.” on left forearm. A reward of £2 will be paid for his apprehension.

Auckland.—Bth instant, on warrant for failing to provide for the future maintenance of his unborn illegitimate child, Archibald Grandison, age twenty, height 6ft., builder or carpenter; native of New Zealand, broad build, black hair, sallow complexion, clean-shaved, brown eyes, long thin face, false teeth ; usually wears navy-blue suit

and hard black hat. He is supposed to have gone to Sydney under an assumed name. Complainant, Hilda Erkila.

Auckland. —Bth ultimo, on warrant of commitment to Mount Eden Prison for one month in default of paying £5 13s. fine and costs for a breach of the Licensing Act, Thomas Desmond, alias Fitzroy, age fifty-four, height 5 ft. 5 in., labourer, native of England, stout build, fresh complexion, blue eyes, grey hair and whiskers, bald on top of head.

Auckland. mitment to Mount Eden Prison for three days in default of paying £1 Bs. fine and costs for assaulting his wife, George Carroll, age forty-one, height 6 ft., land agent, native of New Zealand, medium build, fresh complexion, grey hair, brown eyes ; fond of drink ; poorly dressed. He is supposed to have gone to Helensville district. (See next paragraph.)

Auckland.—loth ultimo, on warrant of commitment to Mount Eden Prison for seven days in default of paving £2 10s. fine and costs for procuring liquor, George Carroll, age forty-one, height 6 ft., land agent, native of New Zealand, medium build, fresh complexion, grey hair, brown eyes ; fond of drink ; poorly dressed. He is supposed to have gone to Helensville district. (See preceding paragraph.)

Auckland. —27th October last, on warrant of commitment to Mount Eden Prison for seven days in default of paying £2 16s. costs for medical treatment while in custody for drunkenness, Phillip Hellon, age thirty-one, height 6 ft., fireman, native of England, medium build, sallow complexion, dark hair, blue eyes.

Auckland. 7th instant, for escaping from Botoroa Inebriates Home, Maurice Brown and Cyril James Braithwaite. First: Age thirty-eight, height 5 ft. 9J in., labourer and shearer, native of Ireland, strong build, fresh complexion, dark hair turning grey, blue eyes, scar under right cheek; clothing numbered “59.” Second: Age twenty-seven, height sft. 6£in., stationer, native of New Zealand, medium build, pale complexion, dark hair, grey eyes, long face, clean-shaved ; wears hair brushed back from forehead ; clothing numbered “ 62.”

Auckland. —9th instant, on warrant for deserting from the s.s. “ Remuera,” Albert Anderson, height 5 ft. in., seaman, native of Rotterdam, fair complexion, light-brown hair, blue-grey eyes, age not given. A reward not exceeding £2 will be offered for his apprehension.

Auckland.—lst ultimo, that a summons may be served on him for committing a grossly indecent act, George Ross, age thirty, height sft. 8 in., carpenter, native of England, medium build, dark hair, grey-blue eyes, small dark moustache ; dressed in dark-blue serge suit and hard black hat.

Auckland.—6th instant, on warrant for failing to provide for the adequate maintenance of his wife and four children, Francis John Bell, age twenty-eight, height 5 ft. 4 in., butcher, native of Scotland, strong build, fresh complexion, brown hair, square jaws, clean-shaved, one finger (supposed left index) missing, speaks with Scotch accent; a heavy cigarette-smoker ; fond of drink ; dressed in navy-blue suit and bowler hat. He is supposed to have gone to Sydney. Complainant, Isabella Bell, Burnley Terrace, Dominion Road.

Huntly. —26th ultimo, on warrant for forgery and uttering, John Symond (probably fictitious), age twentyfour, height 5 ft. 6 in. or 7 in., native of New Zealand, halfcaste Maori, slim build, long hair (curly in front), thin features, clean - shaved, smart appearance, speaks good English ; dressed in green-tweed suit and cap. Offender forged a cheque for £9 ss. purporting to have been drawn on the Bank of New Zealand, Hamilton, by S. Carter, and uttered the same to William Collins, storekeeper.

Rakauroa. —17th ultimo, that he may be compelled to pay arrears due for the maintenance of his illegitimate child, James Gunn Leckie, ago about thirty, height about 5 ft. Bin. or 9in., labourer, native of Australia, stout build, square pugilistic appearance, dark hair and complexion, olean-shaved, flat crooked nose, false upper teeth, small scar near one eye ; fond of boxing, and may be found round boxing-schools. He was employed on the railway-construc-tion works at Rakauroa, and is said to have left for Australia in July last.

Hawera. assaulting Lizzie Mcßobbie, a child five years of age, Man, name unknown, age about forty, height about sft. lOin., supposed labourer, flushed face, had about three weeks’ growth of beard, no moustache ; untidy appearance ; dressed in grey suit, dark-blue overcoat, and slouch hat. Offender enticed the child to King Edward Park, where he committed the offence.

Lower Hutt. £1 Os. 6d., the money of John O’Keefe, settler, Benjamin Norman Campbell, age eighteen, height 5 ft. 6 in., labourer, native of New Zealand, slight build, clean-shaved, very thin features, dark complexion, dark-brown hair; dressed in brown coat and trousers, dark cap, and strong lace-up boots. Offender was employed by Mr. O’Keefe, who gave him the above money to purchase a postal note, which he failed to do. He also took away a bicycle, the property of complainant, described as having a 24 m. frame* plain clutch, rim-brakes, upturned handles, Brooks saddle. Offender may be identical with F. E. G. Wall, alias Campbell. (See Police Gazette, 1910, page 159.)

Wellington. —2Bfch ultimo, on warrant for failing to provide for the maintenance of his illegitimate child, Arthur Ruff, age twenty-three, height 5 ft. 5 in., farm hand, native of New Zealand, medium build, fresh complexion, black hair, clean-shaved ; dressed in brown-striped suit and black hat. He was heard of at Totara Flat in July last. Complainant, Rose Alice Lines, domestic, Wellington.

Wellington. —l3th instant, on warrant for deserting from the s.s. “ Remuera,” James George Andrews, age thirty, height 5 ft. 8 in., A. 8., native of England, scar on left side of chest. Harry Wilson, age forty-three, height 5 ft. 7 in., A. 8., native of Canada, blue eyes, brown hair, fair complexion and moustache, anchor tattooed on left hand, and star on right hand. Robert Barley, age twentyseven, height 5 ft. 10 in., A. 8., native of England, blue eyes, brown hair, medium build, fresh complexion. A reward of £2 each will be paid for their apprehension.

Wellington.— l4th instant, on warrant for deserting from the s.s. “ Remuera,” Daniel Santry, age thirtyone, height 5 ft. 5f in., fireman, native of England, grey eyes, brown hair, fair complexion. Thomas Hewitt, age twenty-two, height 5 ft. 3 in., trimmer, native of England, blue eyes, brown hair, fair complexion “ T. H.” tattooed on right arm. A. E. Lake, age twenty-three, height 5 ft. 10 in., fireman, native of England, brown eyes and hair, three dots tattooed on left arm. William Watts, age forty, height 5 ft. 11 in., fireman, native of England, grey eyes, dark hair, fair complexion. Herbert Norcott, age thirty-one, height 5 ft. 6J in., fireman, native of England, brown hair and eyes, fair complexion. A reward of £2 each will be paid for their apprehension.

Wellington. —l4th instant, on warrant for deserting from the s.s. “ Ruahine,” Frederick Allen, age twentyeight, height sft. 11 in., A. 8., native of England, fresh complexion, black hair, brown eyes, spot on right wrist. Charles R. B. Dyke, age twenty-nine, height 5 ft. 8 in., A. 8., native of England, dark complexion, dark-brown hair, brown eyes, anchor, clasped hands, and horse-shoe tattooed on right forearm, two scars on left arm. Matthew Brown, age forty-five, height 5 ft. 7Jin., A. 8., native of England, fresh complexion, fair hair, blue eyes, “ M. B. L. M.” in heart tattooed on body (what part not known). Charles Norton, age thirty-five, height 5 ft. 4 in., fireman, native of England, blue eyes, fair hair and complexion “ 0. Norton,” and pot of flowers on right forearm. A reward of £3 each will be paid for their apprehension.

Wellington. —l3th instant, on warrant for failing to provide his wife, Jane Groth, 73 Hanson Street, with adequate means of support, Henry Jens Groth, age thirtynine, height 5 in. Sin., labourer, native of Germany, stout build, fresh complexion, fair hair and moustache, blue eyes, prominent scar on left side of face ; dressed in blue suit and hard-felt hat. He follows Agricultural Shows as a wrestler and boxer, and was last heard of at the Oamaru Show.

Westport. —l2th instant, on warrant for being absent without leave from the barque “ Mataura,” Alvin Svanbeck, age twenty-two, height 5 ft. 6 in., seaman, Russian Finn, fair complexion, square jaw, full face, clean-shaved, thick-set build, speaks very little English ; dressed in darktweed suit and cap, and a coloured shirt without collar.

Christchurch. —11th instant, on warrant for theft of £4 os. 9d., property of Barlow Bros., merchants, Cashel Street, Daniel Madden, age fifteen, height about 5 ft. 4in., messenger, native of New Zealand, thin build, fair complexion,- good-looking, reddish hair; dressed in brown suit and cap. He is supposed to have come to Wellington. Total defalcations, £IOO.

Christchurch. —11th instant, on warrant for failing to provide for the adequate maintenance of his wife, John Bradley, alias David Blair, age fifty-one, height 5 ft. 2 in., gardener, native of Tasmania, strong build, ruddy complexion, small head, grey hair and eyes, thin face, reddish moustache, tattooed on left wrist, ships on forearms ; a heavy smoker ; dressed in black suit and light-coloured felt hat or cap. He is supposed to have gone to Gisborne, e,n route to Auckland and Australia. Complainant, Emily Bradley, care of Mrs. Young, Leeston.

Christchurch. —9th instant, on warrant for failing to provide for the adequate maintenance of his wife and child, James Hallam, age thirty-one, height 5 ft. 7in. or 8 in., clicker, native of New Zealand, slim build, pale complexion, black curly hair, blue eyes, small fair moustache, boil-marks on side of neck, stooping gait; dressed in navyblue coat and vest, black-cloth trousers, green tie, and hard hat. He is supposed to have gone to Australia, via Bluff. Complainant, Grace Vastier Hallam, Munnings Place, Woolston.

Christchurch.— 3lst October last, on warrant of commitment to Lyttelton Prison for forty-eight hours in default of paying £1 fine and costs .for a breach of his prohibition order, William Jienry Norgate, age thirty-one, height 6 ft. lin., labourer, native of New Zealand, slim build, fair complexion, brown hair and moustache, blue eyes, sharp features, long nose, round shoulders ; fond of drink ; generally dressed in dark-blue suit and black hard hat. He is supposed to have come to Wellington. (See Police Gazette, 1911, page 578.)

Sydenham.-6th ultimo, on three of commitment to Lyttelton Prison for forty-eight hours, cue month, and twenty-four hours respectively, in default of paying 13s. fine and costs for drunkenness, £2 3s. fine and costs for obscene language, and 7s. costs for refusing to quit licensed premises respectively, William Webb, age twenty-nine, height sft. Bin., labourer, native of New Zealand, medium build, dark complexion, brown hair and eyes ; fond of drink ; prohibited under the Licensing Acts. (See Police Gazette, 1911, pages 185 and 578.)

Dunedin.— llth instant, on warrant for failing to provide his wife, Anna Metcalfe, and two children with adequate means of support, Christopher Metcalfe, age fifty-one, height about 5 ft. 10 in., groom and labourer, medium build, dark eyes and hair, thin dark moustache turning grey, bald in front, sallow complexion. He is supposed to have left for Wellington about September last, and may be keeping a billiard-room in some part of the Dominion.
