Absconded from the vessel at Lyttelton on the above-mentioned date. A reward of £2 is offered for his apprehension.

Huntly. —26th ultimo, on warrant for forgery and uttering, John Symond (probably fictitious), age twentyfour, height 5 ft. 6 in. or 7 in., native of New Zealand, halfcaste Maori, slim build, long hair (curly in front), thin features, clean - shaved, smart appearance, speaks good English ; dressed in green-tweed suit and cap. Offender forged a cheque for £9 ss. purporting to have been drawn on the Bank of New Zealand, Hamilton, by S. Carter, and uttered the same to William Collins, storekeeper.

Rakauroa. —17th ultimo, that he may be compelled to pay arrears due for the maintenance of his illegitimate child, James Gunn Leckie, ago about thirty, height about 5 ft. Bin. or 9in., labourer, native of Australia, stout build, square pugilistic appearance, dark hair and complexion, olean-shaved, flat crooked nose, false upper teeth, small scar near one eye ; fond of boxing, and may be found round boxing-schools. He was employed on the railway-construc-tion works at Rakauroa, and is said to have left for Australia in July last.

Hawera. assaulting Lizzie Mcßobbie, a child five years of age, Man, name unknown, age about forty, height about sft. lOin., supposed labourer, flushed face, had about three weeks’ growth of beard, no moustache ; untidy appearance ; dressed in grey suit, dark-blue overcoat, and slouch hat. Offender enticed the child to King Edward Park, where he committed the offence.

Lower Hutt. £1 Os. 6d., the money of John O’Keefe, settler, Benjamin Norman Campbell, age eighteen, height 5 ft. 6 in., labourer, native of New Zealand, slight build, clean-shaved, very thin features, dark complexion, dark-brown hair; dressed in brown coat and trousers, dark cap, and strong lace-up boots. Offender was employed by Mr. O’Keefe, who gave him the above money to purchase a postal note, which he failed to do. He also took away a bicycle, the property of complainant, described as having a 24 m. frame* plain clutch, rim-brakes, upturned handles, Brooks saddle. Offender may be identical with F. E. G. He follows Agricultural Shows as a wrestler and boxer, and was last heard of at the Oamaru Show.

Westport. —l2th instant, on warrant for being absent without leave from the barque “ Mataura,” Alvin Svanbeck, age twenty-two, height 5 ft. 6 in., seaman, Russian Finn, fair complexion, square jaw, full face, clean-shaved, thick-set build, speaks very little English ; dressed in darktweed suit and cap, and a coloured shirt without collar.

Christchurch. —11th instant, on warrant for theft of £4 os. 9d., property of Barlow Bros., merchants, Cashel Street, Daniel Madden, age fifteen, height about 5 ft. 4in., messenger, native of New Zealand, thin build, fair complexion,- good-looking, reddish hair; dressed in brown suit and cap. He is supposed to have come to Wellington. Total defalcations, £IOO.

Christchurch. —11th instant, on warrant for failing to provide for the adequate maintenance of his wife, John Bradley, alias David Blair, age fifty-one, height 5 ft. 2 in., gardener, native of Tasmania, strong build, ruddy complexion, small head, grey hair and eyes, thin face, reddish moustache, tattooed on left wrist, ships on forearms ; a heavy smoker ; dressed in black suit and light-coloured felt hat or cap. He is supposed to have gone to Gisborne, e,n route to Auckland and Australia. Complainant, Emily Bradley, care of Mrs. Young, Leeston.

Christchurch. —9th instant, on warrant for failing to provide for the adequate maintenance of his wife and child, James Hallam, age thirty-one, height 5 ft. 7in. or 8 in., clicker, native of New Zealand, slim build, pale complexion, black curly hair, blue eyes, small fair moustache, boil-marks on side of neck, stooping gait; dressed in navyblue coat and vest, black-cloth trousers, green tie, and hard hat. He is supposed to have gone to Australia, via Bluff. Complainant, Grace Vastier Hallam, Munnings Place, Woolston.

Christchurch.— 3lst October last, on warrant of commitment to Lyttelton Prison for forty-eight hours in default of paying £1 fine and costs .for a breach of his prohibition order, William Jienry Norgate, age thirty-one, height 6 ft. lin., labourer, native of New Zealand, slim build, fair complexion, brown hair and moustache, blue eyes, sharp features, long nose, round shoulders ; fond of drink ; generally dressed in dark-blue suit and black hard hat.
