J. 0. ”, and “ J. F. S. ” ; a band ring (recovered) ; a gold bar brooch; two bangles (recovered); a navy-blue costume (recovered); two white soft shirts; a pair of ladies’ lace-up shoes, size 4; a green - corduroy skirt; two pairs of pillow-slips; aud a pair of fancy pillowshams : total value, £3O : and then set fire to two wardrobes.

Queen Street Whaef (Auckland). —18th instant, on warrant for absenting himself without leave from the s.s. “ Opawa,” Hugh Nipple, age thirty-seven, height 5 ft. 5 in., seaman, native of Liverpool, England, strong build, ruddy complexion, brown hair turning grey, blue eyes, grey moustache, fairly fall face, hawks and butterfly on left hand, flowers on right hand.

Corbert, alias Charles Stanaway, age about twenty-six, height about 6 ft., sawmill hand, native of New Zealand, quarter-caste Maori, very dark complexion, clean shaved; smart appearance ; stylishly dressed in blueserge suit. Offender forged a cheque for £6 25., which purported to have been drawn on the Bank of New Zealand, Auckland, by T. Coates in favour of W. Corbert, and uttered the same to David Robertson, storekeeper, Olevedon. There are other charges pending. He may be accompanied by Mrs. Harris, alias Stanaway, who is referred to in Police Gazette, 1911, page 429,

He was last heard of at Komata. Inquiry is at the instance of the Thames police.

Manga weka.— 22nd instant, that he maybe served with a summons for failing to provide for the adequate maintenance of his two children, Stephen Carkeek, age thirty-seven, height 5 ft. ljin., labourer and ex-jockey, native of New Zealand, stout sturdy build, fresh complexion, dark hair turning grey, hazel eyes, short sandy moustache, scar on left cheek ; aotive appearance ; fond of drink, and is prohibited under the Licensing Acts ; a heavy smoker. He was last heard of at Christchurch.

Mangaweka. —22nd instant, that he may be served with a notice of fine and costs (£1 75.) for a breach of his prohibi tion order, George Clark, age forty-two, height 5 ft. sin., tailor, native of Scotland, t-tout build, fair complexion and hair, sandy moustache; untidy appearance; addioted to drink. (See Police Gazette, 1911, pages 173 and 274.) He was last heard of at Ohakune, but is supposed to have gone to Sydney.

Wanganui.— 23rd instant, that she may be compelled to contribute towards the maintenance of her child, an inmate of the Wellington Receiving Home, Maria Jane Hake, age about thirty-seven, height about sft. 4 in., thin build, very dark complexion, Gipsy appearance, thin face, has a decided stoop, furtive manner; shabbily dressed. She may be accompanied by her mother-in-law, age about seventy, short stature, thin build, wrinkled face, begging disposition. Inquiry is at the instance of the Education Department.

Marton. —lßth instant, on warrant for obscene language, Samuel Adams, age thirty, height 5 ft. 8 in., labourer, native of Scotland, stout build, fresh complexion, light-brown hair, light-blue eyes, small fair moustache, short neck ; fond of drink; dressed in blue-serge or green-striped tweed suit and cap. Ashburton. — 17th instant, on warrant for theft of two sovereigns, a half-sovereign, and ss. in silver, the money of Erskine Wilfred Cardale, clerk, John Sullivan, age twenty-two, height 5 ft, 5 in., guesser, native of New Zealand, fair complexion, auburn hair, grey eyes, large hooked nose, very narrow jaws ; dressed in blue suit and bard black bat. Dunedin. —18th instant, for escaping from the Salvation Army Reformatory Institution, where she was undergoing detention for twelve months for soliciting prostitution, Lily Evans, alias Mary Smith, age thirty-two, height 5 ft. 4Jin., prostitute, native of England, sallow complexion, dark hair, hazel eyes, small scar on upper lip; dressed in light-coloured blouse and green skirt.
