PERSONS WANTED.

Whangarei. —4th April last, on warrant of commitment to Mount Eden Prison for seven days in default of paying £1 Bs. 6d fine and costs for furious driving, Charles Barker, age twenty-seven, height 5 ft. 7j in., miner, native of New Zealand, medium build, fresh complexion, fair hair, blue eyes ; generally dressed in light-coloured suit and hard hat. Auckland. —l9th ultimo, on warrant for theft of three registered let'ers, the property of the Postmaster-General, and of the total value of £5, from the post-office at Runciman, Stewart Good, age twenty-one, height 5 ft. 5 in., labourer, native of Australia or New Zealand, fair curly hair, clean-shaved, finger-nails bitten, full-rigged ship on one arm and “ Stewart ” and sailor girl on other arm. Offender was a guest of the Postmistress, and assisted her to make up the mail by which the stolen letters should have been forwarded to Auckland.

Scarff, age twenty-four, height 5 ft. 3 in., general servant, native of England, auburn hair and moustache, blue eyes, one front tooth missing, bandy-legged ; dressed in darkbrown suit and tweed oap.

Papakura.— T. Bentley, wanted on warrant for false pretences : It has been ascertained that offender is identical wi'h William B. Willoughby, alias Tom Whiteley, alias Charles William Riley, alias Eli, referred to in Police Gazette, 1909, page 25. (See Police Gazette, 1911, page 285.)

Thames. —loth ultimo, on warrant for failing to provide for the future maintenance of his unborn illegitimate child, Harry Rouse, age about twenty-three, height about 5 ft. 6 in., labourer, native of New Zealand, medium build, brown hair, grey eyes, clean-sbaved; dressed in dark suit and white boater hat. Complainant, Maggie May Joseph, Parawai.

Opotiki.— l9th September, 1910, that he may be served with a summons for failing to provide for the maintenance of his illegitimate child, Donald Pye, age forty, height sft. 11 in., labourer, native of New Zealand, slight build, fresh complexion, fair hair, blue eyes, sharp features, fair moustache only ; fond of drink. Offender is said to have been seen recently at Onchunga. Complainant, Ivy Gardiner.

Stratford.— l3th ultimo, that he may be served with a summons for deserting his wife, Cora Evelyn Jeffrey, Lewis Stephen Jeffrey, age twenty-two, height 5 ft. Sin., labourer, native of New Zealand, slight build, fair complexion and hair, scar on left ear, left ring-finger crooked ; dressed in light-coloured striped - tweed suit, and cap. Offender is said to have come to Wellington, and may seek employment on a steamer.

Palmerston North. —27th ultimo, on warrant for failing to provide his wife, Annie Haddon Curtis, with adequate maintenance, William George Curtis, age thirty-seven, height 5 ft. sin. or 6in., sheep-farmer and drover, native of New Zealand, medium build, dark complexion and hair (bald), clean-shaved. Photograph filed in the Inspector’s Office, Wanganui. Offender was last heard of at Dannevirke, where his brother-in-law, Prank MoKenzie, resides.

Wellington.— R. Smith, wanted on warrant for false pretences on Frederick Dobson: It has been ascertained that offender is not identical with Robert Barker, whose apprehension is notified in Police Gazette, 1911, page 286, and also in this issue of Gazette. (See Police Gazette, 1911, page 214.)

Wellington. —l3th March last, on warrant of commitment to Auckland Prison for fourteen days in default of paying £9 12s. arrears on a maintenauce order for the support of Lyndia Holt, Jessie Holt, age thirty, height 5 ft. 5 in., prostitute, native of America, stout build, darkfreckled complexion, dark-brown hair, brown eyes, small nose. Blenheim. —3rd May last, on two warrants of commitment to Picton Police Gaol for seven days on each in default of paying £1 10s. and £2 14s. 9d. respectively for (1) breach his prohibition order and (2) breach of the peace, Michael alias John Buckley, alias McWilliams, age twentyfive, height 5 ft. 7Jin., labourer, native of New Zealand, medium build, fair complexion, brown hair, blue eyes, large nose ; slouohing gait; dressed in dark-tweed suit and soft hat. (See Police Gazette, 1911, page 26Ch) Offender is supposed to have gone to Southbridge, Canterbury, where his relatives reside.

Blenheim. Charles Colin Wilkins, wanted on warrant for false pretences : It has been ascertained by the Tasmanian police that offender wrote from some New Zealand address to his parents, asking for financial assistance to enable him to return to their home. The letter was received on 9th ultimo, and the request contained therein was refused by his father, who is possessed of considerable means. (See Police Gazette, 1911, page 232.) (P.P.B. 254/11.)

Westport.—l4th ultimo, on warrant for failing to provide his wife, Alice Ann Fletcher, with adequate maintenance, William Joseph Fletcher, age thirty-two, height 5 ft. 8 in. or 9 in., miner and labourer, native of New South Wales, medium build, sallow complexion, dark-brown hair, clean-shaved, growth near one ear; dressed in navy-blue suit and black hard hat.

Reefton. —llth May last, that a distress warrant may be executed on him in default of paying 17s. fine and costs for being found on licensed premises during prohibited hours, Peter McCormick, age about twenty-seven, height 6 ft., miner, supposed native of New Zealand, strong build, dark complexion and hair, brown eyes, olean-shaved, stooping shoulders, slovenly gait; dressed in dark clothes and cap.

Christchurch. — John William Higgins, wanted on provisional warrant for deserting his wife : It has been ascertained by Detective Gibson, Christchurch police, that offender has assumed the name Walker, and may have gone to Auckland. (See Police Gazette, 1911, page 286.) (11/1069.)

Christchurch.— 4th April last, on warrant for failing to provide his wife and five children with adequate means of maintenance, John Stanley, age fifty-one, height 5 ft. 3 in., tailor, native of New Zealand, stout build, pale complexion, fair hair, blue eyes: dressed in dungaree trousers, old greycheck tweed coat, Crimean shirt, and black hat. Offender sold his farm at Sefton about the end of April last, and is supposed to have gone to Sydney. Complainant, Catherine Anderson, care Mrs. Cassells, South Dunedin.
