Auckland.—22nd ultimo, on warrant for deserting his wife, Mary Telfer, Cross Street, Newton, James Telfer, age forty-five, height 5 ft. 10 in., cook, broad build, fair complexion, fair hair and moustache, grey eyes. Offender was employed on the s.s. “ Maheno,” and is supposed to be in Sydney.

Auckland.—l6th instant, on warrant issued by His Honour Mr. Justice Edwards for absconding from bail, John Kettles, age thirty-two, height 5 ft. 7£ in., labourer, native of Scotland, stout build, fresh complexion, light-brown hair, dark-grey eyes, mole on right forearm and over right eye, wart on left forearm, several small scars on left forefinger. Newton. -13th instant, on warrant for false pretences, R. J. P. Ogsden (probably fictitious), age about thirty, height about 5 ft. 9 in., supposed native of New Zealand, medium build, dark complexion, dark-brown hair, cleanshaved. Offe* der obtained painters’ material valued at £1 15s. from Matthew Bennett, painter, Karangahape Road, by falsely representing that the articles were for Benjamin Leonard, 77 Great North Road.

Papakura.—3rd ultimo, on warrant for false pretence®, T. Bentley, age tbirtv-five to foity, height 5 ft. 8 in., farm hand, native of Liverpool, England, sto* ping shoulders, red nose, clean-shaved; dressed in blue-serge suit and black hard hat. Offender obtained £5 from Gavin McMurray, farmer, by falsely representing that he was employed by Alfred Kidd, Waiuku, and empowered to buy and sell and collect money on his account.

Ngaruawahia.—Bth instant, on warrant of commitment to Mount Eden Prison for fourteen days in default of paying £2 10s. fine and costs for obscene language, Thomas Carroll, age thirty-four, height 5 ft. 8 in., miner, native of Ireland, medium build, dark complexion, black hair, brown eyes ; fond of drink.

Offender is supposed to have gone to Raglan or Kawhia.

Raetihi.—4th ultimo, on warrant for failing to provide for the future maintenance of his unborn illegitimate child, Herbert Manning Whiley, age twenty-eight, height about 5 ft. 7 in., coach-driver and labourer, native of Tasmania, slim build, dark complexion and hair, clean-shaved, some of upper front teeth missing; dressed in dark suit and soft-felt hat. Napier. —4th February last, on two warrants fcr failing to comply with a maintenance order for the support of his illegitimate children, Alfred or Cockney Masters, age twenty-six, height 5 ft. 8 in., racecourse-guesser, native of New Zealand, medium build, fresh complexion, dark hair and moustache ; generally wears a dark suit and hard hat. Hastings.—2oth April last, on warrant for deserting his wife, Evaiine J. Pownall, David Pownall, age thirty-one, height 5 ft. 11 in., butcher, native of New Zealand, slim build, sallow complexion, black hair turning grey, dark eyes, thin features ; dressed in dark suit and black hard hat or cap. Baxter, age twenty-five, height 5 ft. 6Jin., labourer, native of England, fresh complexion, lightbrown hair, hazel eyes, prominent nose, clean-shaved, smart appearance ; well dressed. Wellington.— 12th instant, on warrant for theft of a ladies’ dress ring (recovered), valued at £6, the property of Margaret Hamill, 9 Whittaker Street, Frederick Thomas Keeper, age forty three, height 5 ft. 6Jin., cook, native of New Zealand, strong build, fresh complexion, brown hair and moustache, blue-grey eyes, scar near left eye and on left forefinger ; dressed in brown-twesd suit and black hard hat. Blenheim.- George Moss, alias Crockett, failing to provide for the future maintenance of his unborn illegitimate child : Offender wrote to complainant on 7th instant, and gave his address as “ The General Post Office, Sydney.” (See Police Gazette, 1911, page 273.)
