Auckland. —16th ultimo, on warrant for deserting from the s.s. “ Otaki,” John Kingsley Wall, age forty-one, height 5 ft. 7 in., seaman, native of England, blue eyes, hair turning grey, snake and eagle tattooed on chest, butterfly on hip ; dressed in dark suit.

Auckland.— lßth ultimo, that a summons may be served on him for a breach of his prohibition order, Thomas Bowden, age twenty-four, height 5 ft. 9 in., labourer, native of Australia, medium build, fresh complexion, brown hair and moustache, nose bent. He may be found working in a stable.

Auckland.— Between the 3rd and 17th December last, on warrant for theft of 329 Truth newspapers, value £2 14s. 10d.,tke property of John Norton, George H. Bell, age about thirty-eight, height about 5 ft. 8 in., labourer, native of England, slight build, dark-brown hair, fresh complexion, fair moustache only; dressed in dark sae suit and black hard hat; walks with a limp. Offender received the newspapers from the manager at Auckland, Gordon Hutchison, to sell, but failed to account for the proceeds.

Auckland. —31st December last, that he may be served with a summons for cruelty to animals, Stephen Orsen,

age twenty-two, height 5 ft. 9 in., carter, fair complexion, slight build, fair hair, grey-eyes, clean-shaved, boyish slovenly appearance. He may be found working around stables.

Onehunga.— 25th ultimo, on warrant for failing to provide for the maintenance of his illegitimate child, Harold Ardern, age twenty-five, height 5 ft. 9 in. or 10 in., labourer, native of New Zealand, slim build, dark complexion, thick hair (curly in front), thin nose, hazel eyes, clean-shaved, suffers from hernia and wears a truss ; generally wears a dark suit; and hard black hat. Onehunga. —l7th ultimo, on warrant for theft of a black and tan collie dog, white blaze on face and white round the neck, answers to the name of Bob, value £lO, Arthur Yetcher, age about thirty-five, height about 5 ft. 7 in., suppose i native of New Zealand, medium build, dark complexion and hair, clean-shaved except dark moustache ; dressed in dark coat and vest, dungaree trousers, and dark cap. He was formerly a steward on the s.s. “ Rotoiti.”

Huntly. —l9th December last, on warrant for failing to provide for the future maintenance of his unborn illegitimate child, Frederick Grookson, age twenty-seven, height 5 ft. Gin. or 7 in., bricklayer’s assistant and trucker, native of England, slight build, fair hair and complexion, longish features, clean-shaved ; usually wears dark suit and straw hat. Gisborne.—l6th or 17th ultimo, on warrant for theft of a bay pony gelding, five years oil, 14 hands high, small white snip on nose, black points, mane and tail cropped short, branded “ C ” on near shoulder (rather indistinct), value £B, identifiable, Albert Pyle, alias Taylor, age twenty-eight, height 5 ft. 4£in., groom, native of Australia, fresh complexion, reddish hair, clean-shaved; dressed in dark-grey striped sac suit and grey cap. He is also charged on warrant with obtaining from Herbert Lucas, clerk, Coronation Hotel, £1 10s. by means of a valuless cheque on the Bank of New South Wales, Gisborne.

Hawera. —26th ultimo, on warrant for failing to provide for the future maintenance of his unborn illegitimate child, Frank Blake, age twenty-two, height 5 ft. 10 in., labourer, native of New Zealand, strong build, fair complexion and hair, clean-shaved, peculiar gait; dressed in dark-coloured tweed suit and cap. His brother is on a bush section in the Gisborne district. Complainant, Mary Bourke.

Waverley. —lst ultimo, for failing to comply with the conditions of his release .under the First Offenders’ Probation Act, Thomas Duggan, age twenty-five, height 5 ft. 8 in., labourer, native of Australia, strong square build, fresh complexion, dark-brown hair, blue eyes, square chin, clean-shaved, “ T. D.” tattooed on left forearm, butterfly on biceps, “ True Love ” and clasped hands on right biceps ; dressed in dark suit and cap. He was sentenced on a charge of theft at the Stipendiary Magistrate’s Court, Waverley, on 21st November last, and has failed to comply with the conditions of his release.

Taihape. —24th December last, that summonses may be served on him for drunkenness and using obscene language, Richard Healy, age twenty-two, height 5 ft. 5 in., labourer, native of New Zealand, dark complexion and hair, grey eyes, medium build, rather large nose; generally wears a dark-tweed suit and black soft-felt hat. His parents are boardinghouse-keepers at Taihape.

Wellington.—26th ultimo, on warrants for wilfully damaging stores on the s.s. “Athenic,” Alfred Edwin Hall and Thomas Wilson. First : Age nineteen, height 6 ft., steward, native of England, thin build, fresh complexion, fair hair, blue eyes, small fair moustache, shuffling awkward gait, slightly stooped. Second : Age twenty-three, height 5 ft. BJin., steward, native of England, medium build, fresh complexion, thiok bushy brown hair, blue eyes, brown moustache.

Blenheim. —Between 31st December and 7th ultimo, on warrant for theft of £1 10s. 6d., the moneys of Edward Stone Parker, trading as the “ McKenzie Carrying Company,” John William Burke, age twenty-eight, height about 5 ft. 8 in. or 9 in., labourer and carrier, native of New Zealand, medium build, dark complexion and hair, dark eyes, generally clean-shaved; dressed in dark-tweed suit and black hard hat. He may be found working in a stable or driving an express. The offender was employed by the above firm, and between the dates mentioned appropriated the money, which he had collected from customers.

Christchurch. —14th ultimo, on warrant for theft of a black peggy-bag and purse, value 7s. 6d., Henry Cox, age twenty-two, height 5 ft. 5f in., labourer, native of New Zealand, medium build, fresh complexion, brown hair, blue eyes; dressed in brown suit and tan boots. He is charged conjointly with John Lee, alias Nettleford, who is in custody for snatching oomplainant’s bag.

Christchurch. —18th ultimo, on warrant for failing to provide his wife and child with adequate means of support, Jack Rains, age twenty-eight, height 6 ft. 2 in., butcher and labourer, native of England, slim build, sallow dark complexion, light-brown hair (two curls in front), blue eyes, reddish moustache (fairly long), pimple on side of face resembling a wart, carries himself well, deep cut on left thumb ; usually wears a faded brown-check suit.

Christchurch. —18th ultimo, that he may be compelled to comply with an order of Court to pay ss. a week each for the support of his two brothers in the Christchurch Receiving Home, Robert Bethke, age twenty-nine, height about 5 ft. 6in., seaman, native of New Zealand, medium build, dark complexion, black hair, hazel eyes ; usually wears dark suit and cap.

Christchurch. —20th ultimo, on warrant for failing to provide for the future maintenance of his unborn illegitimate child, Harry Staunton, age about twenty-eight, height about 5 ft. 8 in., commercial traveller, slim build, pale complexion, brown hair, grey eyes, clean-shaved, noticeable square jaw, rather pigeon-toed ; dressed in dark-tweed sac suit and light felt or hard hat. Rakaia. —24th ultimo, that a summons may be served on him for travelling by rail between Christchurch and Rakaia without paying the proper fare, Thomas Hill (name supposed fictitious), age about thirty-five, height about 5 ft. 7 in.,

labourer, supposed native of Australia, dark complexion and hair, clean-shaved, medium build ; dressed in dark suit and tan boots. He is supposed to have gone harvesting.

Oamaru.— l9th December last, on warrant for theft from the Golf Club of a pair of ladies’ golf-shoes, a spoon and fork, and three golf-balls, value £1 ss. (recovered), the property of James Cunningham and others, Alexander Walquist, age thirty-four, height 5 ft. 9 in., labourer, native of New Zealand, fair complexion and hair, blue eyes, clean-shaved except small moustache ; dressed in grey-tweed suit and grey-tweed slouch hat. Dunedin. —23rd ultimo, on warrant for being absent without leave from the s.s. “ Rimutaka,” Samuel Dunstan, age twenty-two, height 5 ft. 6^-in., baker, native of England, blue eyes, dark-brown hair, clean-shaved, tattoospot on right forearm, round face, rather small chin ; dressed in blue-serge suit and blue cap. A reward of £4 is offered for his apprehension.

Dunedin. —2oth ultimo, on warrant for being absent without leave from the s.s. “ Rimutaka,” Peter Schmidt, age thirty-seven, height 5 ft. 8 in., fireman, native of Denmark, strong build, dark complexion, brown hair, grey eyes, small scar near right ear, clean-shaved except moustache; dressed in dark suit and blue jersey. A reward of £2 will be paid for his apprehension.

Invercargill. —2oth ultimo, on warrant for failing to provide for the maintenance of his unborn illegitimate child, Edward Raines, age about thirty, height about 5 ft. 7in., butcher’s assistant, native of New Zealand, medium build, fresh complexion, dark-brown hair, clean-shaved, short upper lip, front upper teeth decayed (some of them missing): supposed to be wearing a dark-brown suit and cap.
