Sydney. —The New South Wales police advise that forged notes on the Commercial Banking Company, Sydney (Limited), are in circulation in Sydney, and an attempt may be made to utter them in New Zealand. Those uttered are £5 notes No. C 367002, dated Ist July, 1908, purporting to be signed by F. C. McCutcheon and countersigned Thompson. (F.P.B. 16/11.)

F.” in monogram on front case; a gold muff-chain, long- and short-link pattern; a gold button-hook, heart, cross, and medallion, photo and human hair attached as pendants ; a gold bar brooch, set with a sapphire, surrounded with diamond chips ; a gold bar broooh, “Regard” in raised letters on it; a gold bar brooch, set with three corals ; a gold heart, set with pearls as pendants ; a gold leaf pendant; a round gold brooch, set with pearls and amethysts, pearls are set on shamrocks ; a gentlemen’s 18 ct. gold massive ring, set with a green opal; a ladies’ gold dress-ring, set with two rubies and three diamonds; a b-dies’ gold dress-ring, set with four rubies and three pearls (ring has been cut) ; a ladies’ gold dress-ring, set with a ruby and two diamonds ; a ladies’ gold chain ring, curbpattern, knot on face ; a ladies’ gold band ring, “ Recordo ” on it; a pair of gold star-shaped sleeve-links, and two shirtstuds to match, all set with diamonds in centre, “ H. P.” and “ 20/10/09 ” on back ; a gold scarf-ring, set with a green opal and four diamonds ; a gold oval-shaped scarf-pin, set with white and red stone; a pair of small gold ear-rings, each set with a diamond ; a gold chain with green terminals attached (one terminal cracked) ; a mother of-pearl cross, two gold hearts in centre, pierced with spear (has been repaired, with silver plate on back); an old-fashioned gold link chain, a copper Maltese cross attache!, “A.F.” in monogram in centre; a gold pencil-case, “H. P., 1902,” on it; a 10 yen (Japanese) piece, gold-mounted; an American 10# piece (1896); a silver match - box, gold shield with “ H. Western Australia.— lnquiry requested for H. Douglas Lockhart, age about thirty-one, height about sft. 9 in., medium build, light hair (very little on forehead), cleanshaved except small light moustache, fresh complexion, grey eyes, red birth-marks (or marks from burns) on side of neck or cheek (supposed left side); is well educated, and usually wears dark suit and hard hat. He was employed at the Riverdale Dairy Factory, near Manaia, and left there about the end of March last. He was in Opunake in April last, and will be known to hotelkeepers, as he is fond of drink and company. (10/2066.)
