PROPERTY STOLEN.

Auckland. —Between 9th acid 11th instant, from the bedroom of ALFRED HARFORD, actor, a gentlemen’s 18 ct. gold scarf-pin, set with larga ruby surrounded by about ten diamonds (the head screws out and can be used as a dress stud); value, £l2. Suspicion attached to Samuel Hugh Strain, age thirty-eight, height 5 ft. 11 \ in., labourer and miner, native of New Zealand, strong build, dark complexion, brown hair and eyes, small scar across left eyebrow and left thumb; dressed in blue suit and light-coloured Dr. Jim hat. (See Police Gazette, 1910, page 436, and Photographs of Discharged Prisoners, 1910, page 54.) The suspect was bailed out at Auckland watch-house on a charge of drunkenness. He had then a similar pin in his possession, but it had not been reported stolen.

Auckland. 9th or 10th instant, from the dwelling of ELIZA SEYMOUR RAE, an 18 ct. gold bracelet, with horse-shoe in centre, shoe studded with sapphires and diamonds alternately, also studded with sapphires and diamonds at each side of shoe ; a gold plain cable bangle, with a padlock and half-sovereign attached ; a ladies’ 18 ct. gold dress ring, set with small ruby in centre and a small diamond at each side; a ladies’ 18ct. gold three-stone dress ring, set with a diamond in centre and a sapphire at one side, one stone missing; a gold medium-sized locket, heart-shaped, with ruby in centre, chased on front, a short gold neck-chain attached; a ladies’ long gold muff-chain; a ladies’ oldfashioned 18 ct. gold short watch-chain, three strands with knob in centre, centre strand larger than others, tassel on end : total value, £47. Identifiable.

Auckland. —26th ultimo, from the residence of the Rev. FATHER PATTERSON, a pug-dog, four or five years old, strong build, large head, weak eyes, answers to the name of “Dick”; value, £2O.

Whangaroa. —About 20th ultimo, from the bedroom of EDWARD WILMORE, labourer, a sovereign, a halfsovereign, and Bs. 6d. in silver ; a gentlemen’s snake-pattern gold ring, consisting of a double coil with tail of snake in mouth, “ W. B.” on side of ring, a bar through the mouth with “ W. B.” on it, ruby set in each eye, value £lO (identifiable). HUNT, a gentlemen’s Nonpareil bicycle, No. 2798, B.S.A. parts, 22 in. frame, upturned handles, Dunlop tires, Eadie Coaster hub, seat - pillar reversed; value, £lO. Identifiable.

Palmerston North. —24th ultimo, from Main Street, the property of MARTIN NEILSON, labourer, a gentlemen’s black-enamelled free-wheel bicycle, No. 518278, steel mudguards, front and rear brakes ; value, £ls. Identifiable.

Suspicion attached to Charles Mercer, age twenty-one, height 5 ft. 6 in., jockey, dark complexion, dark hair, clean-shaved. He is now said to be in Greymouth.

Timaru.— Between 30th ultimo and 11th instant, from the band-room, the property of HENRY BEZZANT, a silverplated cornet, maker Hawkes, No. 19475 ; value, £l7. Identifiable.
