PERSONS WANTED.

Auckland. —11th ultimo, on warrant for theft of a cheque for £7 10s., the property of Elizabeth Young, Remuera, Young (name supposed fictitious), age about forty, height 5 ft. 10 in., labourer, fair complexion, ginger moustache, medium build ; dressed in blue-dungaree trousers, dark-tweed coat, blue-striped shirt, black hard hat. The complainant lost the cheque, and offender is supposed to have found it and then cashed it the same day at R. Gray and Sons, Symonds Street, drapers, in payment for goods purchased, and gave his name and address as Young, Mary Street, Mount Eden, but no trace of him can be obtained there.

Auckland. —On 4th ultimo a warrant was issued under the Bankruptcy Act, 1908, section 92, addressed to the Sheriff of Auckland and all Police officers in the Dominion for the apprehension of Edwin Pawson, agg about forty-fiver, hoigjpl & U/yrx strong fairly heavy comptexion, light-brovyn ( hau) turning greyijHigh forehead, somewhat bald, imw lie clean-shaved or may have a small thin brown moustache, mouth droops at corners, long upper lip, has an open rather simple-looking

appearance; usually wears a brown- or grey-tweed suit, soft wide-brimmed felt hat which is worn at back or side of head. He is a sawmiller, farmer, and butcher by occupation, but may be found at any labouring-work. He is supposed to be in the King-country. His wife and family reside in Dannevirke. (10/2146.)

Gisborne. —17th ultimo, on warrant for forging the name of Timothy Carey to a Post Office withdrawal notice, thereby obtaining the sum of £lB 195., John Kettles, age thirty-one, height 5 ft. 8 in., labourer, native of Scotland, strong build, fresh complexion,dark-brown hair, clean-shaved except small ginger moustache ; dressed in dark-tweed sac suit and soft black hat. IJfe is supposed to have gone to Napier, en route to Wellington. and complainant were sent to Gisborne from Wellington by the Labour Department in September last. Offender stole complainant’s Savings-bank book, and presented it to the Postmistress at Otoko, and by forging complainant’s name to a withdrawal form obtained the above amount . /of 3

Gisborne. —3oth ultimo, on warrant for assaulting Elsie Ada Callan, a child under ten years of age, with intent to rape, Youth, name unknown, age about fifteen, height about 5 ft. 4 in., dressed in grey knicker suit, black stookings, and white-straw hat with black band. Offender was riding a chestnut horse, and when he met the child on the road got off the horse and committed the above offence.

Napier.—3rd instant, on warrant of commitment to Napier Prison for two jtaonths in default of paying £lO 15s. fine and costs for procuring liquor for a prohibited person, Henry Lorigan, age forty-seven, height 5 ft. 5f in., labourer, native of New Zealand, grey hair, fair moustache turning grey, large nose, dirty appearance ; fond of drink.

Ormondville. —20th on warrant for deserting his wife, Evelyn Josephine Pownell, at Ormondville, David Pownell, age thirty, height '5 ft. 11'in., butcher, native of New Zealand, sallow complexion, thm face, dark eyes, black hair turning grey, clean-shaved, slim build; dressed in blackserge suit and grey cap,'' He was recently employed at Nelson Bros’, freezing-works, Gisborne, and was afterwards farming at Norsewood. Timaru. —sth instant, on warrant for failing to provide for the future maintenance of his unborn illegitimate child, William Hosie, age twenty - three, height sft in., labourer, native of New Zealand, medium build, sallow complexion, brown hair and eyes, dimple in chin; larrikin appearance ; addicted to drink. Complainant, Edith Annie Downward, domestic.

Dunedin. —3lst ultimo, on warrant for disobeying an order of Court to pay 2s. 6d. a week towards the support of her illegitimate child, Rhoda Cooper, age twipjtyjnine, medium height, domestic, native of/New. build, swarthy jpmplexi<m, eymjjfiows, dark sunken eyesdresses neatly.
