INQUIRIES, ETC., FROM OUTSIDE NEW ZEALAND.

Sydney. —A warrant has been issued for Samuel G. Hudson, for embezzling/the/sum of £65 15s. 6d., tbe money of the Royal Pack/t Steam Navigation Company, of Sydney, age about twenty/eighfc, height 5 ft. 7 in., thin build, sallow complexion, clean-sjlaved, lisps when speaking; dresses in brown suit, iiardf black hat, small silver chain across breast; frequent® racecourses. Offender is a recent arrival from South Africa. He is said to have come to Wellington, and would probably seek employment in a shipping-office, but no trace of him earn be found. Arrest desired. Newtown (Sydney).— A warrant has been issued by the Newtown Bench for the arrest of Charlotte Farley, charged with obtaining the sum of £l7 from George Howard Naylor by means of a false pretence. Offender is about fortyfive years of age, medium height and build, fair complexion, brown hair; wearing a dark dress and black-trimmed hat. She is supposed to have come to New Zealand. Melbourne. —Inquiry requested for George Greenfield, age about forty, medium height and build, reddish complexion, a labourer, usually employed at foundries, a native of Ballarat, Victoria. Pie left Melbourne some months ago, and is supposed to have been stopping in the Dominion Boardinghouse, Wellington, New Zealand, in June last. His wife and children have been left destitute at Bourke, Victoria. (10/1586.)

Queensland. — Inquiry requested; or John Mahoney, or O’Reilly, age about twenty-eight, height about 5 ft. 7 in., plumner, native of Queensland, dark complexion, very dark curly hair mixed with grey, may have a moustache, very heavy bushy eyebrows meeting between the eyes, one eye bluish-grey colour, the other bluish-brown, knee-cap has been broken (causing him to limp) ; wears a silver watch and chain, gold medal attached, silver sleeve-links with initials or name on them, won at racing for Oxley Harriers. Is supposed to have come to New Zeland. Inquiry by Eveline Violet Corney, Hamilton, Brisbane, that he may be compelled to provide for the maintenance of his child. If traced, information to be forwarded to the Inspector of Police, Wellington.

Western Australia. —A warrant has been issued for the arrest of Edward Goonan for theft as a servant at Kalgoorlie on the 14th February last of £36 55., and on the 21st March last of £26 os. 3d., the property of Richard Holmes and others. Description: Age about thirty-four, height 5 ft. 9in. or 10 in., previously employed as grocer and recently as traveller for wines and spirits, married, medium erect build, brown well-kept straight hair, slightly bald in front, brown medium - sized eyebrows, light - brown eyes, roundish face, fresh complexion, affable manner, speaks quickly ; neat, tidy appearance; dressed in blue-serge suit, green-striped overcoat, and black boxer hat. Louisville (United States). —A reward of 06,000 is offered for the arrest and conviction of Joseph Wendling, for murder. Description: Age twenty-seven, height 5 ft. 10 in. or 11 in., about 140 pounds weight, blue eyes (rather squinting), full protruding nose, heavy black eyebrows, black hair, moustache inclined to curl, narrow stooped shoulders

swarthy complexion, rosy cheeks, a Frenchman (sometimes taken for a Hungarian or Italian), speaks with a decided French accent, usually stands very erect with one foot extended, walks with long strides, blue tattoo-marks on one forearm, gunshot wound on hand (supposed left). On Bth December, 1909, Wendling assaulted and killed Alma Kellner, a child eight years of age. He is probably a degenerate, and has been arrested for interfering with young girls.
