PERSONS WANTED.

Auckland. —Between Ist February and 22nd ultimo, on warrant for theft from the Art Gallery, the property of the Trustees of the McKplvie JLrir'CoUection, a small and unusually enamelled, chain aim keylfo match, silver dial finely chased, two revolving plates showing hours and minutes through two perforations lof da>ta| Henry Yincent Bruning, age vXow engineer or fitter, aarlf haiL~cleajutrolfved, one leg slightly shorter than the other, wadklTwith a limp; dressed in dark-brown sac suit with light stripes, and black hard hat or cap; has a reference from Massey Bros., Auckland. He was formerly a street musician, and plays the violin and cornet. A silver watch and a gold watch were also stolen from the collection, and were recovered and traced to the possession of offender by Detective F. S. Gox and Acting-Detective F. Cullen, Auckland police. Total value of watches stolen, £3OO.

Huntly. —2sth ultimo, /on warrant for the abduction of Ane Whiunui, a /ema/e aboriginal Native, age fourteen, height 5 ft. 2 in., mefliun/ build, black hair, round features, Percy Wright St. Glair, age twenty-one, height 5 ft. 9 in., flax-mill hand, native of New Zealand, medium build, dark-brown hair, mue /yes, fresh complexion, round features, small fair moustabhe, /large mouth; dressed when last seen in dark-grey sac /suijr and cap. Wellington. 23rd ultimo, ..escaping from lawful custody, Joseph, age ab&ut twenty-two, height about tflbntcwjr* hftttv’R of Oxford, New Zealand, medium build, darly complexion, dark-brown hair, blue eyes, medium moAh, hosfep and chin, usually cleanshaved (had about gtovHh of beard when he escaped), large scar near left shoulder-blade, scar Sn inside of left kneecap, pinched features ; dressed in dark-grey coat, dark vest, greenish-tweed trousers, light well-worn shirt (torn in front), Slucher boots, no hat, collar, or socks. Offender was on remand on several charges of housebreaking at Palmerston North, and escaped from the Lambton Quay Lock-up on the above date. It has now been ascertained that he was at Longburn on 27th March, 1910. (For photograph of offender see Police Gazette, 1910, page 134.)

He left We/tpc/t on the 14th ultimo, supposed for }/i Christchurch. —On or about 20th December last, on warrant for theft of £36, the money of Herbert ActonAdams, station-owner, Tepapa, Ernest Patrick Berlyn, k, native^of rally wears grey suit and cap; has a brother in Nathan’s buildings, Wellington. Offender was employed as accountant at complainant’s station, and failed to account for the above money. Other charges pending.
