Auckland.— l6th instant, with a view to ascertain if she is in a position to contribute towards the support of her child in St. Mary’s Industrial School, Elizabeth Dougherty, alias McDonald, alias Young, alias O’Sullivan, age forty-two, height 5 ft. prostitute, native of New Zealand, medium build, dark complexion, dark-brown hair, blue eyes, pug nose. (See Police Gazette, 1907, page 114.) When last heard of she was supposed to be living with a man named O’Sullivan.

Auckland. —lst instant, on warrant for failing to comply with an order of the Court to pay ss. a week towards the support of his child, John Gordon, age twenty-six, height 6 ft., butcher, &c., native of New Zealand, slight build, fair complexion and hair, blue eyes, clean-shaved, has worked for grocers and bakers (usually driving a cart). Arrears due to 15th ultimo, £8 Is. 6d. Offender was lately seen in Stratford.

Epsom.— l4th instant, that she may be compelled to pay £5 75., arrears due to the Bth ultimo for the maintenance of her child in the Auckland Industrial School, Mary Theresa Shave, alias Harris, alias Wright, age twentyseven, height 5 ft. 1 in., prostitute, native of New Zealand,

medium build, fresh complexion, dark hair, dark eyes, Offender was last seen in Auckland about five months ago, Inquiry by Education Department.

Napier. —Bth instant, on warrant for failing to provide for the maintenance of his illegitimate child, Augustus Gogan, alias Gagan, age fortv-nine, height 5 ft. 4 in., carpenter and barman, native of New Zealand, heavy ginger moustache, fair reddish complexion, stout thick-set build, blue eyes. Complainant, Prances Emily Beachen.

Ormondville. —17th instant, on warrant for false pretences on Bjphard James Staunton, hotelkeeper, W. ]L. James (name probably fictitious), age thirty-two, height 5 ft. 6 in., slight build, clean-shaved, fair complexion, sunburnt, brown curly hair ; dressed in dark-check suit and hard black hat. Offender gave complainant a valueless cheque for £2 10s. on the Bank of New South Wales, Auckland, in payment for board, and left on the same date for Auckland, supposed en route for Sydney. He was accompanied by a man who gave the name of Stoddart, and they had with them a green-canvas trunk and five handbags. Stoddart represented that he was a medioal practitioner.

Dannevirke. —llth ultimo, on warrant of commitment to Napier Prison for fourteen days in default of paving £2 3s. fine and costs for obscene language, Robert Anderson, age thirty-five, height 5 ft. Bin., labourer, native of New Zealand, medium build, dark complexion and hair, grey eyes; dressed in blue-dungaree pants, dark coat, and cap ; fond of drink.

Dannevirke. — Ist ultimo, on warrant for failing to provide for the maintenance of his wife and family, Phillip James Quayle, age thirty-five, height 5 ft. 2in., hairdresser and labourer, native of the Isle of Man, medium build, dark-brown hair, fair moustache (may be cleanshaved), small sharp grey eyes, long sharp features, fair complexion. He was recently working as a labourer at Inangahua Junction.

Palmerston North.— 2lst ultimo, on warrant for false pretences on Elizabeth Barnett, boardinghouse-keeper, John Cracknell, age about forty - eight, height 5 ft. 10 in., labourer, native of England, slim build, dark complexion, dark hair and moustache turning grey ; dressed in dark suit. Offender obtained board to the amount of £3 by falsely representing that he had a case coming on at the Supreme Court over his son who was killed at a sawmill between Woodville and Dannevirke,

Wellington. 22nd ultimo, on warrant for theft, Frank Saunders, age forty, height 5 ft. 10 in., labourer and station hand, native of New Zealand, clean - shaved except small dark moustache, dark-brown hair; generally dressed in dark clothes; fond of drink. Offender was employed by complainant looking after a small pig-farm, and sold four pigs, value £2, and failed to account for the money. He is a son of the late Joseph Saunders, contractor, Wellington.

Wellington.— l2th instant, on warrant for deserting his wife, Mary Lacey, at Wellington, Alfred John Lacey, age thirty, height 5 ft. 3f in., dealer, native of New Zealand, fair complexion, brown hair, blue eyes, long thin nose. (See Police Gazette, 1907, page 119.) He was ordered on the sth November, 1906, to pay 15s. a week towards the support of his wife, and on the 31st May last was in arrears £SO.

Richmond. —lßth instant, that she may be compelled to provide for the maintenance of her illegitimate child, May Fleming, age thirty-one, height 5 ft. 5 in., cook, native of Ireland, dark hair, medium build, blue eyes, fair complexion, was employed as cook at the Custom House Hotel, Nelson, about January last.

Christchurch.— l6th March last, on warrant for theft of £l3 ss. Bd., the property of J. L. and G. Scott, contractors, Christchurch, Ernest Pegg, age thirty, height 5 ft. 7 in., clerk, native of New Zealand, thin build, dark hair and complexion, rather sharp features, nose inclined slightly to one side ; dresses well. Offender was employed as book-keeper, and received a cheque for above amount to pay to the Westport Coal Company, which he cashed, keeping the money. Other charges pending.

Timaru. —sth instant, on warrant for theft of eighteen gallons of whisky and an earthenware jar, value £l9 10s. (recovered), the property of William Anderson, hotelkeeper, Thomas Hannon, age twenty-seven, height 5 ft. 8 in. or 9 in., labourer, dark hair, medium build, clean-shaved ; dressed in dark clothes and brown Dr. Jim hat. Offender may go to Christchurch. The offence was committed in company with a man named Spurden, who has since been arrested and convicted for this offence.

Dunedin. —26th March last, on warrant for deserting his wife, Elizabeth Evans, at Dunedin, James Henry Evans, age twenty-nine, height about 5 ft. 6 in., fireman and sawyer, native of New Zealand, stout build, fresh complexion, brown hair, blue eyes, clean-shaved, scar at base of thumb. Was seen in Auckland about two months ago, and is said to be accompanied by a married woman named Galvin, with whom he is supposed to be living.

Invercargill. —2oth instant, on warrant for failing to provide for the maintenance of his illegitimate child, Arthur Horton, age twenty-eight, height 5 ft. 7 in., labourer, native of New Zealand, stout build, fair complexion and hair, slightly bald in front (brushes hair over bald part), clean-shaved, fair moustache, blue eyes ; generally wears light-grey suit and hard black hat; generally works at ditching.
