PERSONS WANTED.

Auckland. —24th April last, on warrant of commitment to Auckland Prison for forty-eight hours in default of paying 13s. fine and costs for a breach of the peace, William Creamer, age thirty, height 5 ft. s|in., sailor and labourer, native of England, medium build, fresh complexion, brown hair, blue eyes, anchor at base of right thumb.

Auckland. — 4th instant, on warrant for obtaining £lO from Daniel Joseph McGowan by false pretences, Alexander Cameron, age forty-five to fifty, height about 5 ft. 8 in., supposed native of Scotland, clean-shaved, rugged features, pale complexion, dark hair turning grey, prominent teeth, strong build, supposed identical with Robert Mayo. (See Police Gazette, 1909, page 192.) Offender represented to complainant that he was a farmer at Daisy Hill, Morrinsville, and purchased a milking plant for £240, and induced complainant to exchange cheques for £lO, borrowing a blank cheque, which he altered to Hamilton bank. He has a knowledge of Southland, and stated he belonged to Centre Bush some years ago. He was recently at Hamilton and Rotorua, and has gone under the names of Campbell, Banks, and Duncan Cameron, Other charges pending.

Paeroa.— September and October last, that two distress warrants may be executed on him for £1 19s. fine and costs for refusing to quit licensed premises at Karangahake on 17th September last, and 15s. fine and costs for drunkenness, at Paeroa, on Ist October last, total £2 145., Peter Crosby, age thirty-seven, height 5 ft. 7£ in., native of Ireland, brown hair, brown eyes, heavy brown moustache only, medium build ; fond of drink. Supposed gone to Gisborne.

Napier.— On or about 21st May last, on warrant for failing to account for jewellery to the value of £245 11s. 6d., the property of Rvan Bros., jewellers and importers, Napier, W. Hopewell Budd, age thirty-seven, height 5 ft. 10in., canvasser, native of England, dark complexion, dark hair turning grey, dark moustache only, blue eyes, false teeth ; usually wears a dark-check coat, red vest with small white spots, ridins-pants, tan leggings and boots, and hard black hat. Offender was canvasser for the above firm, and was given the jewellery to sell. He was last heard of at Waipukurau on the 21st May last. Amongst the jewellery for sale he had a ladies’ 9 ct. gold open-faced watch, No. 3515; two ladies’ 9 ot. gold hunting-watches, Nos. 270918 and 101275; a ladies’ silver and enamel watch, No. 1876321; a gentlemen’s silver open-faced English watch, No. 639921; a gentlemen’s silver Waltham watoh, No. 14619860; a gentlemen’s silver open-faced Erhardt, No. 355788 ; a gentlemen’s gold filled Elgin watch, No. 12748735 ; a gentlemen’s silver hunting-lever watch, No. 98067; a gentlemen’s silver hunting watoh, No. 115811, Stewart and Co ; a gentlemen’s gold filled Elgin watch, No. 13681387.

Stratford. — Bth April last, on warrant for deserting his wife, Laura Eleanor Georgina Lambert, at Stratford, Frederick Henry Lambert, age forty-eight, height 5 ft. 10in., baker, native of Germany, stout build, fair com plexion, square shoulders, walks ereot, has a V-shaped piece out of left thumb-nail. (See Police Gazette, 1909, page 174.) Offender is now said to be living with a woman in Gippsland, Victoria.

Shannon.— 2lst ultimo, on warrant of commitment to Palmerston North Prison for fourteen days in default of paying £3 fine and costs for a breach of the peace, Toby Roberts, age about twenty-six, height about 5 ft. 5 in., flax hand, thick-set stout build, clean-shaved, florid complexion, dark-brown hair, Scotch accent; fond of drink, and poses as a fighting-man.

Masterton. —sth instant, on warrant for theft of a leather handbag, containing a girl’s change of clothing (recovered), the property of Ina Strang, value £2, Thomas Christie, age fifteen, height about 5 ft. 3 in., parcel-boy, strong robust build, rather large eyes, fresh complexion, brown hair; dressed in dark knicker suit and old boots. Wellington. —2sth ultimo, on warrant for failing to provide for the maintenance of his illegitimate child, Michael Farrington, age thirty-five, height about 5 ft. 5 in., brickmaker and labourer, native of Ireland, stout build, dark complexion, dark hair turning grey, cleanshaved except dark moustache, large scar on chin. Complainant, Ellen Ryan, who is separated from her husband, and has been living with offender for the last two years.

Wellington. —24th April last, that a distress warrant for £9 17s. may be executed on him for trespassing on the Trentham Racecourse, Alfred Farrell, age about twentysix, height about 5 ft. 7 in., bookmaker’s clerk, dark complexion, medium build, dark hair, clean-shaved; usually wears a navy-blue suit and hard hat.

Christchurch. —27th ultimo, on warrant for forging and uttering, Donald Hamilton, age about thirty-seven, height about 6 ft., labourer, supposed Australian, fair complexion and hair, very fair curly moustache only, hazel eyes, nose slightly flat as if broken, strong erect build, good appearance, noticeable scar running from corner of right eye to the parting in hair ; dressed in dark clothes, and will have a quantity of luggage with him. He was working for A. H. Holland, farmer, Greendale, and received a cheque for £5 6s. He subsequently obtained a blank cheque at Christchurch, and forged the name of A. H. Holland to a cheque for £6 165., and uttered it to John Jackson, licensee Grosvenor Hotel.

Christchurch. —3rd ultimo, on warrant for theft of a fawn-coloured motor-coat, value £5 (recovered), the property of Howard James, warehouseman, W. J. Murphy (name supposed fictitious), age twenty-four, height 5 ft. 6 in., .medium build, fresh complexion, dark hair, clean-shaved; dressed in blue-serge sac suit and black cap or straw hat. The coat was stolen from the White Hart Hotel, and sold by offender to McCormack, a second-hand dealer, for Bs. On the 7th instant offender was traced by Constable J. Clarkson to Dromore, near Ashburton, and when overtaken bolted into a plantation, leaving his swag behind. The swag contained several articles reported stolen, also a white blanket with a broad red stripe and several narrow blue stripes; a nearly new black oilcloth coat; a pair of gentlemen’s brownleather gloves; a pair of dark-tweed trousers, made by W. Johnston, Leeston. He is now dressed in a heavy navy-blue-serge coat, dark-tweed trousers, and grey cap. He has now about a week’s growth of hair on face. Other charges pending. Christchurch. —7th instant, on warrant for theft of a horse, trap, and harness (recovered), the property of John Charles McCausland, stablekeeper, Rangiora, William Robinson, alias Robertson, age twenty-four to twentysix, height 5 ft. 6 in. or 7 in., labourer, clean-shaved, full features, fairly stout build, dark complexion, tattoo-marks on arms ; dressed in dark coat, greyish vest and trousers, dark overcoat, and bard black hat; has the appearance of a sailor. He obtained the turn out to go toKaiapoi, but came on to Christchurch, and sold the horse, trap, and harness to Mr. Box, Montreal Street, for £ls. Offender is said to have worked at stables in Timaru and Ashburton about two years ago The photog>aph of William Robertson, alias Robinson, alias Woolley, has been identifi* d as that of offender. Amberley.— sth instant, on warrant for theft of a cheque for £2, the property of Thomas McNaught, s iddler, William Robinson, age twenty-four, height 5 ft. 6 in., labourer, native ol New Zealand, fresh complexion, brown hair and eyes, full features, clean-shaved; dressed in dark coat, greyish trousers and vest, hard-felt hat, and dark overcoat. Dunedin. —22nd ultimo, on warrant for failing to provide for the future maintenance of his unborn illegitimate child, William Russell, age about twenty-four, height 5 ft, 7 in., wool-classer and carter, native of New Zealand,

Dunedin. —22nd ultimo, on warrant for deserting his wife, Susan Wilkinson, at Dunedin, Bertram Keith Wilkinson, age twenty, height 5 ft. 10 in., furniture machinist, native of Victoria, rather slight build, lightbrown hair, pale complexion, light-brown eyes, clean-shaved ; dressed in dark suit and black hard hat. Otautau.— Between 15th and 24th April last, on warrant for theft of £3 in money and the proceeds of the sale of goods the property of Glen and Glen, drapers, George James Sutherland, age twenty-eight, height 5 ft. 7 in., clerk and grocers’ assistant, native of New Zealand, medium build, fair hair with reddish tinge (inclined to curl), clean-shaved, brown eyes ; generally dresses in light-tweed sac suit, cheek cap, and tan boots. Offender was employed as hawker for the abovenamed firm, and left for the country on the 15th April, receiving £3 as change, and taking a quantity of goods for sale. He sold a quantity of the goods, and cleared out, leaving his van and horses at Te Tua. His mother and sisters reside at Caversham, Dunedin.

Invercargill. —Bth ultimo, on warrant for failing to provide for the future maintenance of his unborn illegitimate child, Bert Vincent, age nineteen, height 5 ft. 5 in. or 6 in , paincer, native of New Zealand, medium build, fresh complexion, fair hair, blue eyes, small fair moustache only, large nose and mouth.
