Auckland. —16th ultimo, that he may be compelled to contribute towards the maintenance of bis daughter, an inmate of St. Mary’s Industrial School, James Alexander Fitzgerald, age thirty to thirty-five, height 5 ft. 9 in. or 10in., tailor, native of Ireland, full face, brown hair, long fair moustache; dressed in dark suit and black-felt hat; fond of drink. Arrears due to 20th February last, £2 Bs. Inquiry by Education Department.

Napier. —lst instant, that steps may be taken to compel him to pay £ll 7s. 2d. arrears due for the maintenance of his children in St. Mary’s Industrial School, Frank Stanley, alias Frank Hennessy, age fifty-four, height 5 fd. in., butcher and labourer, native of Victoria, fresh complexion, brown hair, blue eyes, rather heavy build, deep dent in forehead ; shabby clothes ; fond of drink.

Napier. —24th ultimo, on warrant for theft of a watch, an alarm clock, a silver chain, and a razor and shavingbrush, value £2 10s. (recovered), the property of William Hearn, cook, William Thompson (name probably fictitious), age about eighteen, height sft. 2 in., labourer, fair complexion, fair curly hair, only one tooth in upper front jaw ; dressed in dark coat and vest and knicker trousers. Offe; der was living with complainant at Reading’s Restaurant, and took the above articles, which were subsequently recovered, having been pawned by a man giving the name of Thompson, and answering the above description.

Napier. —3oth ultimo, that he may be compelled to contribute towards the maintenance of Phyllis G. and Ivy M. Askew, inmates of the Wellington Receiving Home, Alfred Ernest Smith, age thirty-two, height 5 ft. 11 in., labourer and wool-classer, native of New Zealand, fair complexion, brown hair, blue eyes, large nose. Taumarunui. —l7th ultimo, on warrant of commitment to Auckland Prison for one month in default of paying £2O 155., and two months in default of paying £lO 75., fines and costs for sly-grog selling, Cameron Bell, age thirtyfive, height 5 ft. 8 in., labourer, native of New Zealand, medium build, blue eyes, prominent nose, florid complexion, fair hair and moustache, bald on top of head ; usually wears dark clothes. His relatives are said to reside at Timaru.

Ormondville. —10th January last, on warrant for deserting his wife and six children, Carl Lauritz Emil Evensen, age forty-five, height 5 ft. 7 in., mill hand, native of Denmark, strong build, sandy hair turning grey, sandy whiskers turning grey, has a glass eye (left) ; generally dressed in dark-tweed suit and soft black-felt hat; fond of drink.

New Plymouth. —23rd ultimo, on warrant for deserting his wife, Eliza Undine Schwann, at New Plymouth, Harold Schwann, alias Jack Wilson, age thirty, height 5 ft. 6 in., labourer, native of New Zealand, thin build, sallow complexion, large staring brown eyes, darkbrown hair, moustache only (may now be clean-shaved), very large teeth, high cheek-bones, scar on leg from operation; dressed in black sac coat and soft white shirt. New Plymouth. Robert Lord wanted, that a summons may be served on him for behaving in an offensive manner in a railway-carriage. (See Police Gazette, 1909, page 97.) It has been ascertained by Detective W. Lewis and ActingDetective A. E. Andrews, Wellington police, that offender is identical with Robert Lander, alias Morton, alias Lauder. (See Police Gazette, 1908, pages 23 and jB6, and 1909, page 50.) He left Wellington on the 23rd ultimo, supposed for Auckland.

Feilding. —9th February last, on warrant of commitment to Palmerston North Prison for seven days in default of paying fine and costs, £1 10s., for supplying a prohibited person with liquor, George Steer Farrar, age fifty, height 5 ft. 7 in., labourer, native of England, medium build, fresh complex'on, brown hair, light-blue eyes, brown beard ; generally dressed in brown suit and soft black hat; fond of drink.

Palmerston North. —18th ultimo, on warrant for obtaining £3O from Thomas Charles Bowden by false pretences, Anthony Cavendish, age thirty-two, height 5 ft. 9 in. or 10 in., farmer, native of England, medium build, fair complexion, fair hair and moustache, brown eyes, very square chin, high forehead, parts his hair in centre; generally wears a grey-tweed suit and cap, tan boots, and leather watch-guard ; is a remittance - man. Supposed to be accompanied by his wife. Age about twenty-seven, above the average height, very fair complexion, flaxen hair, large eyes ; generally wears a brown costume; good appearance. Offender obtained the above amount on loan by falsely representing that a piano was his property.

Pahiatua. —10th February last, on warrant for disobeying an order of the Court to pay £1 per week towards the maintenance of his wife and children, James Groves, alias Brown, alias Williams, age thirty-eight, hdght 5 ft. 6 in. or 7 in., labourer, native of England, slight build, fair complexion, light-brown curly hair, ginger moustache, blue eyes, long thin fingers, walks with quick short step. Greymouth.—23rd ultimo, on warrant of commitment to Hokitika Gaol for twenty-four hours in default of paying Bs. fine and costs for drunkenness, Edward Carolan, age thirty-seven, height 5 ft. 8 in., labourer, native of Ireland, medium build, fresh complexion, fair moustache only.

Blackball. —7th February last, that a summons may be served on him for causing a breach of the peace in a public place at Blackball, Rene Rosarte, age about thirty, height 5 ft. 6in., supposed to be a half-caste Maori, regular features, long hair inclined to curl; wears cap well down over eyes.

Christchurch. —9th ultimo, on warrant for theft of a bicycle (recovered), the property of Mrs. W. Henley, Watson’s Avenue, Christchurch, value £lO, Man, name unknown, age thirty-five, height 5 ft. 10in., supposed seaman, clean-shaved, dark cropped hair turning grey, upper front teeth missing ; dressed in shabby dark clothes and cap.

Invercargill. —24th ultimo, on warrant for failing to provide for the future maintenance of his unborn illegitimate child, Alexander Alfred Baker, age thirty, height oft. 8 in. or 9 in., labourer, native of England, stout build, dark complexion and hair, clean-shaved, mole under chin; dressed in dark-blue suit. Supposed to have gone in the direction of Shotover. Complainant, Lily Oxenbridge, domestic.
