Auckland. —2Bth November last, on warrant of commitment to Auckland Prison for twenty-four hours in default of paying £1 3s. 6d. fine and costs for drunkenness, Robert McYey, age thirty-six, height 5 ft. 6 in., cook, native of Scotland, sallow complexion, brown hair, and dark eyes.

Pukekohe. —24th December last, on warrant of commitment to Auckland Prison for one month in default of paying £5 10s. fine and costs for breach of Railway By-law, George Linskey, age twenty-five, height 5 ft. 8 in., hotel porter, native of New Zealand, medium build, dark hair, small moustache only, burn-scars on left side of face; generally dressed in dark-serge suit and hard hat.

Rotorua.—4th ultimo, on warrant for theft of a bicycle (recovered), the property of Cecil Way, stableman, value £4, Ben Williamson, age twenty-seven, height 5 ft. 6 in., labourer and flax-cutter, native of England, fairly strong build, fresh complexion, dark hair, small dark moustache only; dressed in dark clothes and grey cap. Supposed gone to the Manawatu district with a man named TVTa.srm

Feilding. to provide for the maintenance of his illegitimate child, Albert Brocket, age twenty-three, height 5 ft. 7 in., grocer’s assistant, native of New Zealand, fresh complexion, light-brown hair, brown eyes, high forehead, small mouth, slightly bow-legged; generally dressed in dark suit and tan boots. Complainant, Florence Sarah Hancock.

Shannon.— lßth instant, on warrant of commitment to Wanganui Prison for two months in default of paying £6 fine and costs for obscene language, Henry Staunton, age thirty-nine, height 5 ft. 10 in., labourer and flax-cutter, stout square build, sallow complexion, black hair (inclined to be curly), very small dark moustache only ; dressed in dark-grey suit and hard black hat; fond of drink; and talkative. His parents reside in Southland.

Wellington. absent without leave from the s.s. “ Turakina,” Burnet McDonald, age twenty-five, height 6 ft., fireman, native of Scotland, very broad accent, stout build, ruddy complexion, red hair and moustache.

Photograph filed in Inspector’s Office, Wellington. Complainant, Gertrude Lucy Care, Lower Hutt.

Christchurch. —Bth February, 1908, on warrant for obtaining £3 from David Collins, hotelkeeper, by means of a valueless cheque, M. G. C. Cox, age about twenty-five, height sft. 7in., farm hand, native of England, medium build, fresh complexion, dark - brown hair, clean-shaved; dressed in dark-tweed suit and greenish-coloured dark cap, or straw hat. He stated that he had come from London to learn farming. (See Police Gazette , 1908, page 98.) Offender is now believed to be identical with George Arlington Yane, alias MethYen George Cox, alias Crear (see Police Gazette, 1907, page 232), now undergoing a term of imprisonment for twelve months for forgery at Melbourne.

Christchurch. sth December last, on warrant for failing to support his four children in St. Mary’s Industrial School, NelsoD, Alfred Heissenbuttel, age thirty-seven, height 5 ft. 8 in., labourer, native of New Zealand, medium build, fair moustache only, brown hair, grey eyes, dimple on chin. Christchurch. —On or about Ist instant, on warrant for forgery and uttering, George Williams, age between thirty-five and forty, height 5 ft. 10 in. or 11 in., painter and cook, native of Australia, dark complexion, medium build, black hair, brown eyes, dark - brown moustache, sharp features ; fond of drink. Offender forged the name of N. Gee to a cheque for £7 15s. 9d., and uttered same to Alfred Wells, barman for Alfred J. Lawrence, hotelkeeper, Sydenham, receiving £7 13s. change. His wife and daughter reside at Gore.

Ashburton. —3oth October last, on warrant of commitment to Lyttelton Prison for two months for failing to maintain his children in the Christchurch Receiving Home, Andrew Sturgeon, age fifty-eight, height 5 ft. 9 in., labourer and drover, native of Australia, strong build, sallow complexion, fair beard and moustache, brown hair, blue eyes, sulky expression. (See Police Gazette, 1908, pages 234 and 418.) Offender was ordered to pay 3s. a week for each of his three children. Arrears to 30th October last, £3O 12s.

Invercargill. —lsth instant, on warrant for failing to provide for the future maintenance of his unborn illegitimate child, Martin Gavan, age thirty, height 5 ft. 8 in., labourer, native of New Zealand, medium build, fair hair, cleanshaved, full face, scar on underlip, one false tooth in upper jaw ; dressed in dark-blue suit, hard black hat, pointed-toed boots. Offender was employed at railway-works, Garston, and was seen in Wellington on 9th instant. Complainant, Susan Muirhead, Garston.
