Auckland. —2lst July last, on warrant for disobeying an order of the Court to pay 10s. a week for the maintenance of his wife, Thomas O’Neill, age forty-three, height about 6 ft. 2 in., labourer and bush contractor, stout build, ruddy complexion, fair hair, light-blue eyes, fair heavy moustache. Arrears due on 14th July last, £4B 4s.

Auckland. —16th September last, on warrant for failing to provide for the maintenance of his illegitimate child, Arthur Moss, age twenty-six, height 5 ft. 6 in. or 7 in., labourer, native of Australia, stout build, clean-shaved, fairhair, scar over one eye. Was employed at the ferro-concrete work at the Auckland Wharf up to the beginning of this year, and is now supposed to have returned to Prahan, Melbourne. (See Police Gazette, 1908, page 317.)

His mother resides at Te Aute. Accused is accompanied by a Maori girl named Ngaki Morrell, age seventeen, height about 5 ft. 6 in., medium build. Has relatives at Kaikora South.

Napier. —2nd instant, on warrant for disobeying an order of Court to nav £3 every four weeks for the maintenance of his wife, William Henry Hooper, age thirty-five, height 5 ft. 9 in., carpenter and joiner, native of England, well built, fair hair, clear oomplexion, grey eyes, fair moustache, pointed beard, bald patch on top of head; generally wears navy-blue suit and fawn-coloured soft hat or motorcap.

Masterton. —9 th October last, on warrant for theft of a camera and telescopic stand, property of Clyde Duncan, value £6 11s., William Hirst, alias Jewett, age twentyfive, height 5 ft. s^in., labourer, native of England, respectable appearance, fair complexion and moustache, auburn hair, grey eyes, small scar on corner of right eye, dot on left forearm ; dressed in black suit and black hard hat; plays the piano, and talks of race-horses. Petone.— 23rd ultimo, on warrant of commitment to Wellington Prison for one montn in default of paying £5 11s. fine and c >sts for breach of the Factories Act, Steele Traile, alias Steele Traile Taylor, age thirty four, heignt 5 ft. 6 in. or 7 in., baker, stout build, long features, fair complexion, brown hair, clean-sh aved ; dress 1 din black coat and vest, dark striped trousers, and hard black hat. Supposed gone to Christchurch.

Westport.— 2lst ultimo, on warrant for deserting his wife, Bertha Mary Climo, at Westporr, George Frederick Climo, age thirty, height 5 ft. 3 in., labourer, native of England, stout build, dark complexion, dark eyes, dark hair and moustache, tombstone, Grenadier, and “ G. C.” on one forearm.

Christchurch.— llth ultimo, on warrant for theft of a watch, chain, and Spade-guinea (recovered), property of Jrfmes Mills, Captain s.s. “ Wakatu,” William Jones (name probably fictitious), age about twenty-five, height 5 ft. 4 in., steward and labourer, native of England, brown hair, fair moustache; dressed in dark suit and cap; very talkative. Supposed identical with a man named Spriggs, who was a passenger by s.s. “ Wakatu ” from Kaikoura to Lyttelton. (See Police Gazette, 1908, page 493.)

Has been employed on Union Steam Shipping Company’s boats. Supposed come north, and may endeavour to go to Sydney. Offender purchased the bicyole on time-payment system, and sold it for £6 10s.

Dunedin. —Bth or 9th ultimo, on warrant for breaking and entering the dwelling of Barnard Graham and stealing a silver hunting-watch and silver chain, value £lO (recovered), Thomson (name probably fictitious), age about thirty, height about 5 ft. 6 in., tbin build, fair complexion, lightbrown moustache ; thin face, supposed dressed in grey suit and cap. Identification doubtful. The watch and chain were pawned by above offender at Mark Jacobs’s, Dunedin, for Bs. Entrance effected by forcing open the door.
