Auckland. —20th ultimo, that he may be compelled to provide for the maintenance of his illegitimate child, an inmate of the Auckland Industrial School, Harold Barns, age about twenty-six, medium height, seaman and labourer, stout build, brown hair, clean-shaved. Was seen in Auckland about two years ago. Complainant, May Davis, alias Pulley.

B.” tattooed on right arm, flowers on left arm, bracelet on wrist. Supposed gone to Picton. A reward of £6 will be paid for his arrest, expenses incurred to be taken out of that amount. (recovered), property of the AucldandyEleetric Tramway Company, Gustave Thomas, age twenty-three, height 5 ft. sdh.j labourer, native of New Zealand, stout build, full round face, clean-shaved, fresh complexion, dark hair, grey eyes ; usually dressed in dark sac suit. Whangarei. —2lst ultimo, that a notice of fine and costs, £lO 75., may be served on him for supplying liquor to a prohibited person, Frank Nelson, age forty, height 5 ft. 9 in., labourer, native of Germany, stout build, fair complexion, fair hair, hazel eyes. He was working on the Hukerenui and Kawakawa Bail way extension, and was formerly employed as temporary linesman at Dargaville.

Dannevirke. —Between 6th and 29th un/ ? , warrant for theft from the Dannevirke Brass Band of a Besson Class A brass cornet, in case, value £l2 10s., Beck Simpson, age about twenty-eight, height 5 ft. 10 labourer and blacksmith, medium build, dark curly hairf ' I clean-shaved, has a piece broken off an upper front tooth; ; dressed in faded dark suit and tweed cap ; is a good cornetplayer, and is well known in Wellington and the Wairarapa as a cornet-player. Offender joined the Dannevirke Band, and disappeared with the cornet, and is supposed to have sold it.

Poxton. —24th ultimo, on warrant for theft of a gentlemen’s Red Bird bicycle, No. 183173, rat-trap pedals, 20 in. frame, B.S.A. parts, mud-guards and tool-bag attached, value £2O, property of Spencer Funnell, labourer, George Funnell, age seventeen, height 5 ft. 6in., labourer, native of New Zealand, fair complexion and hair, sharp features ; dressed in blue-serge suit and hard black-felt hat. He was last seen riding the bicycle towards Rongotea. Other charges pending.

Carterton. —10th ultimo, on warrant for forgery and uttering, George Allen, age about twenty-three, height 5 ft. 9 in. or 10 in., farm hand, native of Australia, slim build, fair complexion, very fair curly hair, clean-shaved ; dressed in light-coloured suit and cap. Supposed identical with George Allen. (See Police Gazette, 1908, page 88.) Offender presented a cheque to William Halley, hotelkeeper, on the Bank of New South Wales for £8 155., purporting to be signed by P. W. Burling, and now declared a forgery. Offender had been employed by Burling, and paid by cheques. He may go to Melbourne.

CeßlsbeirußCH. —26iM ujtimo, on warrant for failing to provide for the maintenance of his unborn illegitimate child, John Cahill, age thirty-six, height sft. Bin., wool-classer, native of Australia, medium build, dark complexion, darkbrown hair turning grey, dark moustache, grey eyes ; dressed in dark suit, crape band on left arm, dark hat. Supposed gone to Te Harata, Napier. Complainant, Janet Munro.

Christchurch. —22nd October last, on warrant of commitment to Lyttelton Gaol for one mouth for importuning, Alice Graham, age thirty, height 5 ft. lin., prostitute, native of New Zealand, fresh complexion, brown hair and eyes. (See Police Gazette , 1906, page 51.) The above warrant was held over if offender remained in Salvation Army Home for six months, from whence she has now absconded.

Oamaru. —23rd ultimo, for indecently assaulting Nita Frame and Adelaide Esplin, each about six years old, Man, name unknown, age forty, height 5 ft. 3 in., labourer, stout build, dark hair, dark beard turning grey, cheeks shaved ; dressed in dark suit, dark hard-felt hat ; shabby appearance. Offender is a stranger to Oamaru, and indecently assaulted the two girls in the public gardens. No warrant.

Westport. —2lst ultimo, that he may be compelled to pay arrears due for the maintenance of his illegitimate child in the Nelson Orphanage, William Cole, age sixty-four, height 5 ft. 3Jin., miner, native of England, ruddy complexion, grey eyes, large nose, dark hair turning grey. (See Police Gazette, 1905, page 57.)

Invercargill. 24th October last, on warrant for obtaining goods and money to the amount of £l3 from William Francis Lewis, draper, by means of a valueless cheque, Robert Hooper, age about thirty-five, height about 5 ft. 6 in., supposed carpenter, native of England, thin build, fairish hair, fair moustache, two very prominent upper teeth ; dressed in dark suit. Is accompanied by a woman (supposed his wife), age about thirty, height about 5 ft. 6 in., dark complexion, no teeth ; dressed in black skirt, long grey overcoat, and straw hat. Said to have come north by the express on the 26th ultimo. Offender purchased a sac suit, a flannel undershirt, two pairs of underpants, a white shirt, seven yards dress material, six handkerchiefs, and a rubber coat, value £ll 195., and received in change £1 Is. Offender is not now believed to be identical with Arthur Woolston, alias Sloan. (See Police Gazette, 1908, page 472.)
