Appointment as Native Constable at Whangaroa, Auckland

Rewards

Detective J. J. Cassells, No. 677, Wellington police, has been awarded £8 for the arrest of William A. Lake, a deserter from H.M.S. “Challenger.” (08/41.) Constable J. Cahill, No. 779, and B. Parsons, No. 846, have been awarded £1 each for services in connection with the conviction of Benjamin Le Clere for supplying liquor to Maoris at Wtiangarei. (08/1421.) Sergeant W. Fouhy, No. 380, and Constable J. J. O’Grady, Ashburton police, have been awarded £2 each for services in connection with the conviction of James Nealon for keeping liquor for sale in a no-license district. (08/1650.)

Constable C. W. Lopdell, No. 988, has been awarded £3, and Constables W Marshall, No. 876, and D. MiKenzie, No. 756, £1 each, for services in obtaining the conviction of G. Fisher for keeping liquor for sale at Balclutha. (08/1486.) Constable J. M. Mcßae, No. 1014, Raetihi police, has been awarded £2 10s. for services in connection with the conviction of W. HLgins for keeping liquor for sale in a no-license district. (08/1668.) Sergeant H. Beattie, No. 538, Taihape police, has been awarded £2 10s., and Constable J. H. Sweeney, No. 1106, £2, for services in connection with the conviction of Robert Malmanchi for delivering liquor in a no-license district, and William Oliver for keeping liquor for sale. (08/1671.) Native Constable Te Motu Heta, Otorohanga, has been awarded £2 10s. for services in connection with the conviction of Campbell B-irton for aiding and abetting the supplying of a Maori with liquor. (08/1413.) Detective J. Siddells, No. 231, Wanganui police, has been awarded £2 10s. for servioes in connection with the conviction of H. Brown for delivering liquor into a prohibited area.
