INQUIRIES, ETC., FROM OUTSIDE NEW ZEALAND.
Sydney. —Stolen between 2.30 and 7 a.m. on the Bth instant, from a bedroom at the Paragon Hotel, Mudgee, the property of JOHN A. BUCKLAND, Pine Ridge, near Leadville, a gold bangle, six large diamonds set in shield ; a gold bangle with two large diamonds at joining ; a gold bangle, three bands joined together ; a gold enamelled bangle, red, with small white dots ; a gentlemen’s gold ring with large single diamond, flaw in diamond; a ladies’ hoop pearl ring set with small seed-pearls all round ; a ladies’ dress ring, five diamonds ; a ladies’ ear-ring, stud-pattern, set with small pearl in centre; a ladies’ necklet, flat gold chain, eight pearls in front (one missing) : total value, £216. Mr. Buckland has made an offer in writing of £SO reward on conviction. (08/1163.)
North Sydney..-^An .warrant has been issued by the North Sydney the arrest of Charles Perry, charged with disobeying a Magisterial order for the support of his child (£6 18s. He is t,wenty-one years of age, 5 ft. 6ip. ; hign, thin buiyd, fair hair (and complexion, cleanshaved, bitie eyqs, r&ther appearance; dressed in a light-grey sac sfcit and blkSk or straw hat; an ex railway porter. Said to be in Nefcv Zealand. Identical with offender same name (vide Police Gazette, 1908, pages 70 and 114). (See New South Wales Police Gazette, 1908, page 177.)
Taree. —A warrant has been issued by the Taree Bench for the arrest of Charles Dykes, charged with failing to make adequate provision for the payment of preliminary expenses incidental to and immediately preceding the birth of an infant. He is twenty-five years of age, 5 ft. 10 in. or 11 in. high, slight build, fair complexion, fair hair, clean-shaved, blue
eyes, good set of teeth, mouth rather large, stoops when walking; generally dressed in a blue-serge suit, kid boots with buckles, and black hard-felt or Panama hat ; a blacksmith. Said to have gone either to Sydney or New Zealand. Complainant, Elizabeth Stace, Taree. (See New South Wales Police Gazette, 1908, page 177.)
Sydney. transit by coach from Lightning Ridge, Walgett, two parcels containing rough opal, addressed “T. C. Wollaston, ” Adelaide. One parcel valued at £IOO. (08/1162.)
Manly.—A warrant has been issued by the Water Police Bench for the arrest of Arthur John Harris, charged with wife-desertion. He is thirty-three years of age, 5 ft. lOJin. high, slight build, fair complexion, fair curly hair turning grey, heavy fair moustache only, dark-blue eyes, artificial teeth in upper jaw, one tooth broken in front, large scar on right side of neck under collar ; dressed in a dark-blue-serge sac suit, light-brown Dr. Jim hat, black lace-up boots, and striped soft shirt starched down centre of front; a clerk. Said to have gone to New Zealand on the 2nd instant, and to be accompanied by a woman named Mrs. Jackson. Complainant, Maud Harris, St. Elmo, Ocean Road. Manly.
