PERSONS WANTED.

Auckland. —About 21st November last, on warrant for theft from John Brown, Ranfurly Road, Epsom, W. L. Berliner, age about thirty-five, height 5 ft. 6 in., traveller, medium build, sharp features, high cheek-bones, fair hair, clean-shaved, long Jewish nose, slightly bald; dressed in a grey suit, straw hat, tan boots, wears pinc-nez ; quick walker, very talkative, flash appearance. Supposed to have left for Monte Video, under the name of H. D, Bell, on the 6th December last. Offender received from complainant 15,000 shares in the Takapuna Tramway and Ferry Company to sell on commission. He sold a number of shares, and collected £250, which he has failed to account for.

Otahuhu.—l3th December last, on warrant for theft of a horse, gig, and harness (recovered), property of the Singer Sewing Machine Company, value £3O, William A. Haddon, age about twenty-six, height 5 ft. 10 in. or 11 in., painter, native of England, medium build, fair complexion, brown hair, light-brown moustache only, walks erect ; dressed in grey tweed suit and grey Dr. Jim hat. Offender took the above property from the Criterion Hotel yard and disposed of them for £l2.

Onehunga.— lst November last, on warrant for false pretences on Messrs. H. Bray and Co., merchants, John C. Pearson, age about twenty-eight, height about 5 ft. 7 in., engineer or contractor, native of Australia, stout build, square shoulders, full face, dark complexion, clean-shaved, well dressed, fond of drink, and very talkative. Offender obtained from complainants £2l in cash, giving in exchange for same a valueless cheque on the Union Bank of Australia.

Stratford. —25th October last, on warrant of commitment to New Plymouth Gaol for forty-eight hours in default of paying 155., fine and costs for drunkenness, John Lynch, age sixty, height 5 ft. 9 in., native of Ireland, labourer, fresh complexion, blue eyes, grey hair, full grey beard and moustache ; dressed in shabby dark-brown tweed suit and hardfelt hat. Fond of drink.

Stratford. —2Bth November last, on warrant of commitment to New Plymouth Goal for seven days in default of

paying 135., fine and costs for drunkenness, Arthur Christian, age thirty-five, height 5 ft. 8 in., native of New Zealand, labourer, slim build, fresh complexion, blue eyes, light-brown hair, clean-shaved except sandy moustache ; dressed in blue-serge suit and tweed cap. Fond of drink.

Hawea. —l6tli November last, on warrant for theft of a brown-leather Gladstone-bag, value 355., property of Walter H. Hutchinson, school-teacher, William J. Wellington. —l9th December last, that steps may be taken to compel her to support her child in St. Vincent de Paul’s Home, Dunedin, Annie Doyle, or Wilson, age about twenty-nine, height about 5 ft. 7 in., servant, native of New Zealand, black hair, dark eyes and complexion, goodlooking, inclined to be stout; dresses well. Parents said to reside in Invercargill district. Offender obtained a bicycle on time-payment, and received £4 10s. from complainant by representing it was his own machine.
