PERSONS WANTED.

Auckland. —About 21st November last, on warrant for theft from John Brown, Ranfurly Road, Epsom, W. L. Berliner, age about thirty-five, height 5 ft. 6 in., traveller, medium build, sharp features, high cheek-bones, fair hair, clean-shaved, long Jewish nose, slightly bald; dressed in a grey suit, straw hat, tan boots, wears pinc-nez ; quick walker, very talkative, flash appearance. Supposed to have left for Monte Video, under the name of H. D, Bell, on the 6th December last. Offender received from complainant 15,000 shares in the Takapuna Tramway and Ferry Company to sell on commission. He sold a number of shares, and collected £250, which he has failed to account for.

He was lately employed by ■J. D. Jofies, buildery Auckland, and resided with his wire at Newtop, Auckland. He has a brother a railway-guard on the Auckland Section.

Otahuhu.—l3th December last, on warrant for theft of a horse, gig, and harness (recovered), property of the Singer Sewing Machine Company, value £3O, William A. Haddon, age about twenty-six, height 5 ft. 10 in. or 11 in., painter, native of England, medium build, fair complexion, brown hair, light-brown moustache only, walks erect ; dressed in grey tweed suit and grey Dr. Jim hat. Offender took the above property from the Criterion Hotel yard and disposed of them for £l2.

Onehunga.— lst November last, on warrant for false pretences on Messrs. H. Bray and Co., merchants, John C. Pearson, age about twenty-eight, height about 5 ft. 7 in., engineer or contractor, native of Australia, stout build, square shoulders, full face, dark complexion, clean-shaved, well dressed, fond of drink, and very talkative. Offender obtained from complainants £2l in cash, giving in exchange for same a valueless cheque on the Union Bank of Australia.

Offender has paid 10s., leaving a balance now due of 15s.

Taumarunui. —2sth April last, on warrant of commitment to Auckland Prison for fourteen days in default ofjpaying £2 155., fine and costs for failing to license his billiard saloon at Makatoti, William Dickson, or Dixon, age twenty-five, height 5 ft. 6 in., billiard-saloon keeper, native of England, fresh complexion, fair hair and moustache, blue eyes, medium build; when last seen was dressed in lighttweed suit and black hard hat.

Stratford. —25th October last, on warrant of commitment to New Plymouth Gaol for forty-eight hours in default of paying 155., fine and costs for drunkenness, John Lynch, age sixty, height 5 ft. 9 in., native of Ireland, labourer, fresh complexion, blue eyes, grey hair, full grey beard and moustache ; dressed in shabby dark-brown tweed suit and hardfelt hat. Fond of drink.

Stratford. —2Bth November last, on warrant of commitment to New Plymouth Goal for seven days in default of

paying 135., fine and costs for drunkenness, Arthur Christian, age thirty-five, height 5 ft. 8 in., native of New Zealand, labourer, slim build, fresh complexion, blue eyes, light-brown hair, clean-shaved except sandy moustache ; dressed in blue-serge suit and tweed cap. Fond of drink.

Hawea. —l6tli November last, on warrant for theft of a brown-leather Gladstone-bag, value 355., property of Walter H. Hutchinson, school-teacher, William J. Cole, age twenty-three, heightft. 6 in., tailor, native of New Zealand, medium small black moustache, swarthy in dark-grey suit and black hard hat. Feilding. —l7th December last, that he maybe compelled to maintain his wife and two ohildren, Herbert Moore, age thirty-five, height 5 ft. 7 in., labourer, native of New Zealand, medium build, dark complexion, dark hair, has grey patch in it, scar on left temple, walks slightly lame through injury to left leg; usually wears dark-tweed suit and cap or soft-felt hat. Fond of drink.

Wellington. —l9th December last, that steps may be taken to compel her to support her child in St. Vincent de Paul’s Home, Dunedin, Annie Doyle, or Wilson, age about twenty-nine, height about 5 ft. 7 in., servant, native of New Zealand, black hair, dark eyes and complexion, goodlooking, inclined to be stout; dresses well. Wellington. —lßth December last, on warrant of commitment to Wellington Goal for three months for disobeying an order of the Court to pay Bs. per week towards the maintenance of his wife, Henry Daxey, age fifty-two, height 5 ft. 10in., surveyor’s labourer, native of New Zealand, stout build, broad shoulders, stoops slightly when walking, sallow complexion, dark-brown hair, brown eyes, brown moustache. Wellington. —3oth December last, on warrant for being absent without leave from the s.s. “ Fifeshire,” Peter Boylan and Bartle Owens. First, age thirty, height 5 ft. B£in., quartermaster, native of Ireland, medium build, very dark hair, swarthy complexion, dark-brown eyes, dark moustache. Second, age twenty-nine, quartermaster, native of Ireland, stout build, brown hair, blue eyes, brown moustache.

Wellington. failing to provide for the future maintenance of his unborn illegitimate child, Thomas Adams, age twenty-three, height about 5 ft. 6in., carpenter, native of New Zealand, stout build, very fair complexion, very light-hown hair, grey eyes, clean-shaved. Christchurch. —2nd and 4th November last, that notices of fines may be served on him for trespass on the Riccarton Racecourse, James Ryan, age thirty-five, height 5 ft. 9 in., bookmaker, native of New Zealand, stout build, dark hair and complexion, clean-shaved except heavy dark moustache; dressed in blue suit and hard black hat.

Christchurch. —24th December last, that steps may be taken to compel him to support his family, Richard Saxton, age thirty-two, height 5 ft. 7 in., ploughmap, native of New Zealand, clean-shaved, very fair hair and complexion, grey eyes, small nose, front teeth very uneven, keeps his mouth shut when laughing; generally wears dark clothes.

Christchurch. —4th April last, on warrant for false pretences on Thomas Walter West, registry-office keeper, Robert Moore, age about twenty-three, height 5 ft. 7 in., farm labourer, native of New Zealand, strong build, fresh sunburnt complexion, small fair moustache, sometimes cleanshaved, dark-brown hair; generally dressed in dark-blue suit and Dr. Jim hat. Parents said to reside in Invercargill district. Offender obtained a bicycle on time-payment, and received £4 10s. from complainant by representing it was his own machine.

Christchurch. — 13th November last, that a notice of fine may be served on him for trespass on the Riccarton Racecourse, George Campbell, age forty, height 5 ft. 9in., sells shoddy cloth, stout build, dark complexion, cleanshaved, known as Frenchy Campbell.

Timaru. —lsth October last, on warrant of commitment to Lyttelton Gaol for one month in default of paying £lO 125., fine and costs for playing a game of chance on the Caledonian Grounds, Timaru, Donald Campbell, alias Frenchy Campbell, age thirty-seven, height 5 ft. 8 in., racecourse - spieler, native of France, medium build, fair complexion, grey eyes, clean-shaved except fair moustache. Offender sells shoddy goods and follows up race meetings. (See Police Gazette, 1906, page 203.)
