Auckland. —26fch ultimo, on warrant for deserting his wife, Frances McCallum, at Auckland, Maurice William McCallum, age thirty-five, height about 5 ft. 7 in., labourer, native of Rangiora, New Zealand, medium build, dark complexion, grey eyes, nearly black hair, clean-shaved, top off first finger of one hand. Was recently employed by Mr. Sandford, fish-merchant, Auckland.

Auckland. — 26th October last, on warrant of commit ment to Auckland Prison for seven days in default of paying £3 Os. 6d. fine and costs for drunkenness, James Paton, age forty-one, height 5 ft. 7 in., labourer, native of Scotland, medium build, dark complexion and hair, brown eyes. £1 has been paid into Court, leaving a balance now due of £2 Os. 6d.

Auckland. —9th ultimo, that a summons may be served on him for a breach of prohibition order, Conrad Howell, age fifty-seven, height 5 ft. in., French-polisher, native of England, medium build, dark complexion, black hair turning grey, dark-brown eyes, small cross tattooed on right arm, heart, red line, &c., on left arm. England, medium build, fair complexion, brown hair, blue eyes. Supposed to have gone to Newcastle in company with a man named Best.

Auckland. —l3th ultimo, on warrant for deserting his wife, Emily Rosser, at Newmarket, Martin Rosser, age forty-four, height about 5 ft. 8 in., carpenter, native of England, medium build, fair complexion and hair, blue eyes, moustache and beard only, thick upper lip, speaks very quickly; dressed in dark trousers and vest, striped shirt, light-coloured coat, and hard black hat.

Auckland. —16th October last, on warrant for deserting his illegitimate child, Edward Neilson, age twenty-one, height 5 ft. 6 in., barman and waiter, native of New Zealand, slight build, clean-shaved, very dark complexion, dark-brown hair, hazel eyes; dressed in dark suit; fond of drink. Ponsonby.— l9th August last, on warrant for breaking and entering the dwelling of Frank Percy Burton, Clifton Road, and stealing therefrom a ladies’ gold watch and chain and a ladies’ gold ring (recovered), a small oval gold locket, a very old-fashioned gold locket (part of it diamond-shaped, studded thickly with turquoises), a ladies’ very fine gold chain (small gold heart attached), a ladies’ rolled-gold ring set with an imitation garnet, value £2O (identifiable), J. Moffat (name probably fictitious), age about twentythree, height about sft. 7in., supposed native of New Zealand, medium build, fair complexion, brown hair, cleanshaved ; dressed in dark-brown suit. The watch and chain were pledged by offender with John Mendoza, pawnbroker, Victoria Street, and the ring with John Olsen, pawnbroker, Elliott Street, where he gave the name of S. Morpeth. (See Police Gazette, 1907, page 345.) Offender is not identical with discharged prisoner John Moffat. (See Police Gazette, 1907, page 52.)

Te Kuiti.— 23rd ultimo, on warrant for theft from the camp of L. B. CAMPBELL, Publio Works Surveyor, one £5 note and fifteen £1 notes, Fritz Wallenstein, age thirty, sft. 6in., sailor and cook, native of Germany, stout build, very fair hair and complexion, full face, blue eyes, clean-shaved, hair thin on top of head ; dressed in darktweed'suit and cloth cap. Offender left the camp suddenly, and has failed to draw £4 10s. wages due to him.

Napier.—sth instant, that a distress warrant for £2 12s. maybe executed on him for procuring liquor for a prohibited person, Archibald Sharrock, age forty-three, height 5 ft. 8 in., labourer and boilermaker, native of England, medium build, fresh complexion, fair hair, blue eyes, cleanshaved, scar on right cheek ; dressed in dark-tweed suit and cap.

Woodville. —4th May, 1905, on warrant for deserting his wife, Ellen Pittman, at Springland, Blenheim, James Pittmann, age forty-seven, height about 5 ft. 8 in., farmer, native of England, medium build, fair complexion, blue eyes, hair turning grey. On the above date he sold property for £BOO and left for the North Island, and has not been heard of since.

Woodville.-— 23rd September last, that a summons may be served on him for using obscene language and disturbing a meeting, Thomas Turner, age twenty-five, height 6 ft., carpenter, well built, about 15 st. weight, dark hair inclined to be curly ; dressed in chocolate-coloured tweed suit with large squares, and a Panama or black hard hat. Was last heard of at Waipukurau on above date.

Dannevirke. —Bth October last, on warrant of commitment to Napier Gaol for three months for disobeying an order of Court to pay £1 a week towards,the support of his wife and children, John Riddiford Johnstone, age forty-two, height 5 ft. 7 in., debt collector, native of Scotland, medium build, pale or fresh complexion, dark-brown hair thin on top, straggly dark moustache only, shifty blue eyes, nose rather long, slightly round-shouldered, leans forward when walking, whining voice; dressed in dark clothes and hard black hat, dirty untidy appearance. (See Police Gazette , 1891, page 200, and 1905, page 412.) Offender is also wanted for absconding from bail. He was committed for trial to the District Court sittings, Dannevirke, on 26th ultimo for indecent language and admitted to bail, but failed to appear.

Raehiti. —2Bth ultimo, on warrant of commitment to Wanganui Gaol for three months in default of paying £SO 13s. fine and costs for keeping liquor for sale in a nolicense district, Kathleen Monks, age thirty, height sft. Tin., married, native of Australia, rather stout build, dark hair, blue eyes ; has with ber two girls, one ten and the other eight years of age; also supposed accompanied by her husband, Thomas Monks, age about thirty, height about sft. 7 in., a tailor, slim build, fair or light-brown hair, fair complexion, clean-shaved, sharp features. Supposed to have gone to Sydney.

Taihape. —lst October last, that a summons may be served on him for importing liquor into a prohibited area, Alexander Lindsay, alias Yank, age forty, height 5 ft. 9Jin., contractor, labourer, and seaman, supposed native of America, strong build, heavy broad slightly round shoulders, dark-brown hair, and dark-brown heavy moustache, slight cast in one eye, nasal drawl; fond of drink ; dressed in dark-brown sac suit and dark-brown Dr. Jim hat.

Wellington.— 3oth ultimo, on warrant for deserting her child, an inmate of St. Mary’s Industrial School, Mary Ryan, age thirty, height 5 ft., domestic, native of Ireland, fairly stout build, sallow complexion, brown hair high in front; dressed in dark skirt and jacket and sailor hat.

Wellington. —9th ultimo, on warrant for deserting her child, an inmate of the Wellington Receiving Home, Jessie Holt (known as Mrs. Stewart), age twenty-six, height 5 ft. 5 in., prostitute, native of America, dark freckled complexion, brown hair and eyes, small nose. Christchurh. 23rd ultimo, on warrant for theft of 10s., money of Wardell Bros., grocers, Cashel Street, Colin McDonald, age eighteen, height 5 ft. 6 in., driver and labourer, native of New Zealand, slim build, fresh complexion, brown hair, flat chest, has a habit of keeping his mouth open; dressed in dark clothes and cap. He was employed by complainant as driver, and appropriated the above amount to his own use.

Christchurch.— 2lst ultimo, on warrant for false pretences on Dalgety and Co., Charles Burney, alias Boddington, age about twenty-nine, height 6 ft. 0J in., shepherd, native of New Zealand, dark complexion, brown hair and eyes, large nose, strong build; generally wears dark-grey suit

and dark hard hat. (See Police Gazette, 1907, page 464.) Offender represented that he was W. F. Pavelka, farmer, and obtained an advance of £2O on sheep and wool. Other similar charges pending.

Riccarton. —6th ultimo, on warrant for theft of a purse containing seven sovereigns, a half-sovereign, and a cheque (recovered) for £1 15.., D. Havey (name probably fictitious), age about twenty or thirty, height about 5 ft. 5 in., strong build, clean-shaved, dark complexion, full face; dressed in dark suit and hard black hat. Complainant had the purse stolen from his pocket at the Riccarton Hotel, and the above cheque was cashed bv offender on the same day and indorsed by him in above name.
