Auckland. —sth August last, on warrant of commitment to Auckland Prison for twenty-four hours in default of paying 10s. 6d. fine and costs for drunkenness, Thomas Wrigley, age fifty-two, height 5 ft. 6 in., labourer, native of England, medium build, fair complexion, grey hair, blue eyes.

Auckland. —3rd August last, on warrant of commitment to Auckland Prison for seven days in default of paying £1 4s. fine and costs for drunkenness, William Shaw, age sixty, height about 5 ft. 7 in., labourer and miner, native of England, medium build, fair complexion, grey hair, blue eyes ; has had a recent injury to his shoulder. He worked for a number of years about the mining district at the Thames.

Auckland. —2nd ultimo, on warrant of commitment to Auokland Prison for one month in default of paying £2 13s. fine and oosts for breaoh of prohibition order, James Stewart Henderson, age forty, 5 ft. 9| in., engineer, native of Scotland, medium build, fair complexion and hair, brown eyes.

Auckland. —26th ultimo, that steps may be taken to insure his attendance as a witness in the case Rex v. Coles at the Supreme Court on the 11th November next, Clive Best, age twenty-six, height 5 ft. 7in., barman or porter, native of New South Wales, stout build, square shoulders, reddish hair and complexion, clean-shaved; wears a blaokserge suit and black hard hat. He left Auckland on the Ist September for the Taranaki District.

Thames. —27th ultimo, on warrant for failing to provide for the future maintenance of his unborn illegitimate child, Barney Ryan, age thirty-two, height sft. 11 in., bookmaker, native of England, stout build, fresh crmplexion, dark-brown hair, blue eyes, long sharp nose, left thumb injured; dressed in dark-grey or blue suit, and hard black hat.

Hamilton. —About 2nd ultimo, on warrant for theft of a horse, saddle, and bridle, value £5 (recovered), property of Thomas Callaway, flaxmill-hand, Alexander Johnstone, age about thirty-five, height 5 ft. 7 in., labourer, native of New Zealand, medium build, dark complexion, black hair, fairly heavy black moustache, round face, short nose, small eyes; when last seen was shabbily dressed, and had on an oilskin coat and sou’-wester. Offender borrowed the horse, saddle, and bridle from complainant, and sold them for £4 10s.

Taumarunui.— lst August last, on warrant of commitment to Auckland Prison for one month in default of paying £25 19s. fine and costs for keeping liquor for sale in a prohibited district, George Hennessy, alias Percy Smith, age twenty-five, height 5 ft. 8 in., spieler, native of Australia, slim build, fair curly hair, blue eyes, fresh complexion, clean-shaved; dressed in grey-tweed suit, blue Chesterfield coat, and hard hat.

Gisborne. —27th May last, for failing to obey the terms of his release under the First Offenders’ Probation Act, John Stewart Savage, age twenty-six, height 5 ft. 5 in., labourer, native of New Zealand, medium build, fresh freckled complexion, auburn hair, hazel eyes, top off left forefinger; generally wears blue-serge coat and vest and riding pants and leggings. He was convicted of false pretences at Auckland, and has failed to report himself to the Probation Officer at Gisborne since the 27th May last. Arrest desired.

Gisborne. —7th July last, for failing to obey the terms of his probation under the First Offenders’ Probation Act, William McGregor Dick, age thirty-two, height 5 ft. llfin., labourer, native of Tasmania, medium build, dark complexion, black hair, brown eyes; dressed in blueserge suit and cloth cap. He was placed on probation for six months for theft, and has failed to report himself to the Probation Officer, Gisborne, since the 7th July last. Arrest desired.

Gisborne. —14th ultimo, on warrant for failing to provide for the future maintenance of his unborn illegitimate child, Mansell Oman, age twenty-three, height 5 ft. 11 in., labourer, native of New Zealand, slight build, sallow complexion, grey eyes, brown hair, clean-shaved except moustache, round shoulders, dark bushy eyebrows meeting in centre ; wearing two rings, one with “W. 0.” on it; dressed in dark-serge suit. May seek employment in a brewery, as he had considerable experience in that line at Gisborne.

Palmerston North. —2sth July last, on warrant for deserting his wife, Louie Vanston, at Palmerston North, George Yanston, age twenty-eight, height 5 ft. 7 in., dyer and cleaner, native of England, medium build, fair complexion, fair moustache only, slight impediment in speech, finger of one hand missing.

Petone. —2nd instant, for committing an unnatural offence on Robert Smith, a boy nine years of age, Man, name unknown, age about twenty-seven, height 5 ft. 9 in. or 10in. ; dressed in shabby dark coat, grey trousers, and black hard felt hat; had a stubby growth of hair on chin, otherwise clean-shaved ; had the appearance of a labourer.

Wellington. —2nd instant, on warrant for failing to provide for the maintenance of his illegitimate child, John Barker, alias Curly, age twenty-seven, height 5 ft. 7 in., labourer and miner, native of New Zealand, stout build, reddish complexion, Roman nose, fair hair tinged with grey, fair moustache only, grey eyes ; dressed in dark clothes, hard black hat, and button-up boots. He is said to have gone to Blenheim or Nelson, and may be found mining or prospecting.

Christchurch.— -13th and 15th August last, on two warrants of commitment to Wellington Prison for fortyeight hours on each charge for trespass on the Riccarton Racecourse, William Tudor, age thirty-eight, height about 5 ft. 7 in., bookmaker, native of Australia, stout build, dark complexion, black hair, dark-brown eyes, tattooed on back of right hand; generally wears blue suit and hard black hat.

Christchurch. —l3th and 15th August last, on two warrants of commitment to Wanganui Gaol for forty-eight hours on each charge for trespass on the Riccarton Racecourse, Thomas Roberts, age thirty-five, height 5 ft. 8 in,, native of New Zealand, slight build, fair complexion, brown hair, hazel eyes, clean-shaved ; usually wears dark cloth es and straw hat.

Christchurch.— Between June, 1905, and November, 1906, on warrant for theft of drapery (recovered), property of Armstrong and Co., value about £23, Frederick Barker, age about thirty-five, height about 5 ft. 10 in., windowdresser, supposed native of England, stout build, red face, clean-shaved. He was employed by the above company as

window-dresser, and has since been convicted at Auckland for a similar offence and sentenced to four months, and was discharged on the 19th ultimo. (See Police Gazette, 1907, page 399.)

Dunedin. —About Ist August last, on warrant for theft of a suit of Volunteer Naval Artillery uniform, property of the New Zealand Government, Richard Burns, age twenty, height 5 ft. 6 in., fireman, native of Scotland, medium build, fresh complexion, brown hair, grey eyes, known by the name of “ Scotty.” The suit was stolen from Mrs. Steriford’s boardinghouse, and consisted of a Galatea jacket, a blue jersey, blue trousers and jumper, blue cap, white cap, white ribbon, cape, lanyard, with scarf ; value, £4 13s. 6d.
