PERSONS WANTED.

Hamilton. —Both ultimo, on warrant for false pretences on Joseph Varney, Manager, Hallenstein Bros,, Hamilton, Bertrand Hastings, alias Dennison Gray, age twentyfive, height 5 ft. 8 in. or 9 in., speaks with slight American accent, medium build, sallow complexion, clean - shaved, narrow face, slightly hollow cheeks, small blue eyes, lightbrown hair, straight sharp nose ; dressed in rough dark-grey Norfolk jacket, dark-tweed trousers, and grey-tweed hat turned up at back. He gave complainant a valueless cheque on the Bank of New South Wales, Auckland, for £4 in payment for a dress-suit case, and received the balance, £2 ss. 6d. The cheque was signed Dennison Gray, in favour of Bertrand Hastings.

Gisborne. 23rd/March last, on warrant for wifedesertion, George Jaggerhorn, ; age twenty-dive, height 65^—-6 ft., bushman,. Gisborne. —On or about the 20th November, 1904, on warrant for the theft of a horse, value £lO (recovered), property of Oliver Evans, Mangatu, Alfred Huxley, age twenty-seven, height 5 ft. 6Jin., saddler, native of Queensland, fresh complexion, dark hair, hazel eyes, scar on forearm and on forehead. Offender left Wellington by the s.s. “Moeraki ” on the 29th March last for Sydney in company with George Jaggerhorn. (See Police Gazette, 1907, page 127.) These men were seen on the boat by a passenger who has since returned to New Zealand. (See Police Gazette, 1907, page 145.)

Te Kuiti. — Bth ultimo, on warrant for forgery, J. C. Mason, age twenty-two, height sft. 8 in., carpenter, native of New Zealand, fair hair and complexion, grey eyes, turnedup nose, scar on upper lip and chin ; dressed in dark-serge suit and black hard hat; is identical with James Charles Mason. (See Police Gazette, 1906, page 322.) Offender altered a receipt, making it appear that he had paid £IOO to E. Reynolds and Go. for a motor-bicycle. He sold the bicycle to D. E. Corton, storekeeper, receiving £3O 10s. Offender had the bicycle on time payment, and had no authority to sell, and is said to have left Auckland for Sydney on the 12th ultimo by the s.s. “ Victoria ” under the name of F. Woodworth. Napier. —2lst August, 1906, on warrant for carnally knowing a girl under sixteen years of age, David Davis Trow, age twenty-one, height 5 ft. B|in., labourer, native of New Zealand, slim build, fair complexion and hair, brown eyes. Offender is said to have been in Auckland in June last, and in Napier on the 27th August last. He is now going under the name of Dick Harrison, and may seek employment on coastal steamers. (See Police Gazette, 1906, page 358.)

Napier. phonograph and ten records, value £8 Bs., property of R.obert Limbrick, oycle agent, George Moore, age thirty, height 5 ft. 6 in., stevedore, thick set build, reddish complexion, auburn hair, gmger moustache only, hair on point of nose; is known as “Ginger” Moore. He obtained the phonograph and records on time payment, and sold them for £5. Is now said to ba in Sydney, and will probably be employed about the wharves.

Wanganui. —3lst July last, on warrant of commitment to Wanganui Gaol for forty-eight hours in default of paying 15s. fine and costs for a breach of the borough by laws, James Wells, alias Willis, age twenty-five, height 5 ft. in., cook and driver, native of New Zealand, fresh complexion, brown hair, hazel eyes, large nose, “ J.W.” on back of right hand, cross on back of left arm. Raetihi. —4th April last, on warrant of commitment to Wanganui Gaol for two months in default of paying £5 10s. fine and costs for obscene language, and seven days in default of paying £1 10s. fine and costs for being drunk and disorderly, Thomas Melville, alias Thomas Grogan, age thirty-four, height 5 ft. 9 in., labourer, native of Ireland, fresh complexion, brown hair, grey eyes, medium build. Masterton. —sth instant, that she may be induced to contribute towards the support of her son in the industrial school, Annie Dudley, age about thirty - two, height about 5 ft. 5 in., domestic, native of New Zealand, thin build and features, very fair complexion, flaxen hair, dresses slovenly, accompanied by her daughter about five years of age, and is said to have been working in Wellington about June, 1906. She has been deserted by her husband. (See Police Gazette, 1906, page 169.)

Masterton.— 3lst ultimo, on warrant for obtaining a suit of clothes, a hat, shirt, braces, and boots, value £4 165., from Patrick Hamill, draper, by means of a valueless cheque on the Bank of New Zealand, Wellington, for £l2 175., John Bowden, age thirty-five to forty, height 5 ft. 6in., slight build, labourer, native of New Zealand, thin features, sunburnt, fair complexion, small fair moustache ; dressed in new blue-serge sac coat and vest, brown saddle-tweed trousers, hard black-felt hat with maker’s name, “ P. Hamill,” inside, new lace-up boots. The cheque was signed “ Henry Charles Gibbons,” and drawn in favour of John Bowden. Offender represented that he worked for Gibbons, at Otaki.

Wellington. —2nd instant, that a distress warrant may be executed on her for £24 10s. arrears due for the maintenance of her child in the Wellington Receiving Home, Elizabeth Parker, age about thirty-five, height about 5 ft. lin., domestic servant, native of New Zealand, slight build, dark hair (almost black), dark eyes, sallow complexion, thin features ; slovenly dress.

Wellington. —loth June last, on warrant for theft of £4 money of the Australasian Temperance and General Mutual Life Society, Limited, Robert O. Porter, age about thirty, height about 5 ft. 8 in. or 9 in., canvasser, native of New Zealand, large blue eyes, fresh healthy complexion, dark hair, brown moustache, active build, good address ; was wearing a dark suit and black hard hat. Was last heard of at Hastings. He was employed by the above society, and appropriated the money to his own use. Other charges pending.

Christchurch. —l3th ultimo, on warrant for disobeying an order of Court for the maintenance of his illegitimate child, Walter George Seatree, age thirty, height 5 ft. 7 in., spieler, native of New Zealand, well built, fair complexion, moustache only, brown hair, one arm missing, frequents billiard-rooms, hotels, and race-meetings. On the 13th ultimo he was in arrears £lO ss.

Christchurch.— 3rd instant, on warrant for failing to provide for the maintenance of his wife, Rosina Turner, at Addington, Edward Martin Turner, age forty-three, height 6 ft., travelling-photographer, native of New Zealand, 16 st. weight, florid complexion, blue eyes, clean-shaved, dark hair, getting bald, dressed in navy-blue cloth suit and white double collar. Was last seen in Ashburton on 29th ultimo.

Kaiapoi. —3oth ultimo, that a copy of minute of order may be served on him to pay 10s. a week towards the support of his wife, Henry Tansley Cross, age thirty-three, height 5 ft. 7£in., labourer, native of England, thin build, red face, sharp nose, fair hair, generally clean-shaved except moustache waxed at ends, smart appearance; was a member of Driscoll’s Scouts and Police Force in South Africa; fond of drink.

Naseby. —22nd January last, on warrant of commitment to Dunedin Gaol for forty-eight hours in default of paying £2 10s. 6d. fine and costs for offensive behaviour in a railway-carriage, Peter William Ryan, age about thirty, height about 5 ft. 9 in., labourer and shearer, medium build, fair complexion, ginger moustache, long features, prominent teeth. He has paid £2 off the amount, and there is now due 10s. 6d. His parents reside at Roslyn.

Kaitangata. —3rd instant, on warrant for failing to provide for the future maintenance of his unborn illegitimate child, Henry Johnson, age twenty-eight, height 5 ft. 8 in. or 9 in., miner, native of Victoria, slight build, fair curly hair, fair complexion, sandy moustache only, blue eyes, inclined to be bald on top of head, scar on left cheek, and two scars on left leg below the knee; dressed in greencoloured tweed suit and grey Dr. Jim hat. Complainant, Janet Beadle, Kaitangata.

Invercargill. —2nd instant, that he may be compelled to contribute towards the support of his father, George William Gardiner, age twenty, height 5 ft. 9 in., labourer and flaxmill hand, native of New Zealand, medium build, walks erect, sallow complexion, brown hair, small moustache, long features ; usually wears dark-tweed suit and cap.
