Auckland. —27th ultimo, from Mrs. Knight’s laundry, Grey Street, property of AMY ELIZABETH OLIVE, laundress, a 9 ct. gold ring set with five rubies ; value, £3 10s. Identifiable.
Auckland.— 22nd or 23rd January last, property of JAMES COOPER, Queen Street, six dozen Panama hats, sizes from 6| to 7|-, value £9O ; two dozen untrimmed Panama hats, sizes from 6-| to 7-J-, value £3O, nearly all have “ J. A. Cooper, Auckland,” stamped on the leather inside; one dozen black-felt Dr. Jim hats, various sizes, value £5 Bs. ; one half-dozen hard black-felt hats, various sizes, value £2 145., “J. A. Cooper, Auckland,” stamped on leathers inside crowns; a quantity of black hat trimmings and leathers, value £4. Breaking and entering. Five of the Panama hats were being cleaned, and had the names, Comyns, Fork, Mitchell, Kronfeld, and O. Barker written in pencil underneath the leather lining. (See Police Gazette, 1907, page 56.)
Freeman’s Bay. —llth ultimo, from the dwelling of SIDNEY TAKLE, marine dealer, an open-faced keyless Swiss watch, “S. Takle ” engraved on back; value, £l. Identifiable.
Hamilton. —2sth ultimo, from the dwelling of Mrs. A. ATKINSON, London Street, a ladies’ oblong green-leather purse, silver-mounted at the corners, clasp in middle, containing two sovereigns, one half-sovereign, Bs. 6d. in silver, and 2d. in coppers, a few silver foreign coins, and a small gold scarf-pin ; total value, £4 Bs. Bd. Purse and pin identifiable. Suspicion attached to Harold Howell, age sixteen, height 5 ft. 7 in., driver, native of New Zealand, fresh complexion, dark hair, medium build, blue eyes.
Patea. —6th instant, from the bedroom of NORTON BENGE, Post-office clerk, a nearly new dark-grey Chesterfield overcoat, lined with dark plaid, Hallenstein Bros, on collar, lower outside button missing; value, £2 7s. Identifiable.
Wanganui. —Between Bth and 10th instant, from the dwelling of Mrs. R. J. RALSON, matron, Girls’ College, a ladies’ gold ring set with three diamonds close together, “ F.B.R. to R.J.8.” engraved on inside ; a massive gold wedding-ring “F.B.R. to R.J.8., 9th March, 1881,” engraved inside ; a gold scarf-pin with large pearl in centre : value, £2O.
Blenheim. —26th ultimo, from High Street, property of EDWARD HARVEY, clerk, a gentlemen’s Rudge-Whitworth
bicycle, front-wheel brake, painted black, cork grips; an old machine, not in good repair : value, £4 10s.
Christchurch.—l9th ultimo, from the Post-office, property of JANE DOWNEY, dressmaker, a ladies’ black-en-amelled Kent bicycle, No. 116, small straight handles, whitecelluloid grips, brown tips (one broken at end), cream-coloured gear-case, Palmer rims, rubber pedals, Brooks saddle, new back tire, yellow and black string, brake on front; value, £l2. Identifiable.
Christchurch.—l6th ultimo, from the entrance to the Exhibition, property of ROBERT MEERS, artist, a freewheel bicycle, straight handles, rubber grips, rubber pedals, Dunlop tires, mud-guards ; value, £ls.
Christchurch.—3oth January last, from Armagh Street bridge, property of STANLEY HARRISON, schoolboy, a ladies’ Star bicycle, No. 486, cut down 2 in., rubber missing from left pedal; value, £7. Identifiable.
Christchurch.—2Bth idtimo, from Wonderland, Exhibition Grounds, property of PERCIVAL CHARLES CALKIN, musician, a silver-plated B-flat cornet, maker “ Courtois,” plating worn off the first valve where the right thumb catches, a long dent on inside of bell; value, £lO. Identifiable.
Dunedin.—2nd ultimo, from King Street, property of JESSIE HEWITT, a dark-maroon and gold coloured table-cover, a door-curtain, a pair of blankets, boys’ suits, several dresses, and a clothes-basket with clothing ; value, £4. Identifiable.
