Auckland. —11th ultimo, on warrant of commitment to Auckland Prison for forty-eight hours in default of paying 10s. fid. fine and costs for drunkenness, Patrick Burns, age thirty-seven, height 5 ft. in., fireman, native of England, medium build, fresh complexion, dark-brown hair, grey eyes, tombstone and woman tattooed on right arm, crucifix on left arm.

Auckland. —18th ultimo, on warrant of commitment to Auckland Prison for twenty-four hours in default of paving 10s. 6d. fine and costs for drunkenness, William Forbes, age thirty-eight, height 5 ft. 6J in., fireman, native of Scotland, medium build, fair complexion, grey hair, blue eyes, Britannia tattooed on right arm, “ W. Forbes ” on left arm.

Auckland. —2oth ultimo, on warrant for false pretences on Messrs. Wingate and Co., ironmongers, W. Sowerby (name probably fictitious), age about thirty, height about 5 ft. 10 in., supposed native of England, dark complexion, strong build, clean-shaved; dressed in dark-grey suit and cap. Offender purchased a razor for 3s. 9d., and gave in payment a valueless cheque on the Bank of New Zealand, Auckland, for £4, receiving £3 16s. 3d. change.

Huntly. —2oth ultimo, on warrant for failing to provide for the future maintenance of his unborn illegitimate child, John Williams, age twenty-four, height 5 ft. 5 in., coai-trucker, slight build, sallow complexion, sharp features, pointed chin, dark-brown hair, dark eyes, small moustache, but generally clean-shaved ; dressed in dark-grey sac suit and black hard hat. Supposed to have gone to the coal-mines in South Island, and may be accompanied by George Davis, age about twenty-three, height 5 ft. 4 in. or 5 in., coal-trucker, native of England, medium build, square shoulders, blue eyes, fair curly hair, fair complexion, clean-shaved, dressed in darktweed suit and skull cap, which he wears on back of head. Complainant, Annie Smyth, Huntly.

Helensville. —sth instant, on warrant for theft of a blue-vicuna sac coat and vest, value £3 10s., property of Thomas Dawson, fireman, s.s. “ Wairoa,” Michael Kehoe, age twenty-five, height about 5 ft. 5 in., medium build, dark complexion and hair, small moustache only; will probably be found wearing stolen clothes, and blue-serge trousers. He left by train for Auckland on 6th instant.

Palmerston North. —On or about 22nd ultimo, on warrant for false pretences on Louis Bittelmeyer, hairdresser, Man, name unknown, age about twenty-five, height 5 ft. 6 in. or 7 in., medium build, dark complexion, erect carriage, clean-shaved; supposed to be wearing a dark suit. He represented he was deaf and dumb, and gave complainant a valueless cheque for £2 in payment for a shave, and received £1 19s. change.

Foxton. —6th instant, that a notice of fine may be served on him for a breach of the Borough By-laws, Samuel Reid, age twenty-five, height 5 ft. 7 in., supposed labourer, native of New Zealand, medium build, dark complexion and hair; dressed in dark suit and Dr. Jim hat.

Masterton. —9th instant, on warrant for theft of a letter containing a post-office order for £2 19s. Bd., William Rae, age about thirty-five, height about 5 ft. 94 in., labourer, native of Scotland, dark complexion and hair, heavy brown moustache; dressed in shabby suit of blue serge, fond of

drink, mumbling style of speaking. Offender called for letters at the post-office, and was given the letter containing the above order, which he cashed, and stated that it was for him. The letter was for William Rae, labourer, Taihape.

Wellington. —23rd January last, on warrant for disobeying an order of Court to pay 15s. a week towards the maintenance of his wife, Maud Leach, at Wellington, George Leach, age twenty-nine, height 5 ft. 6 in., cabdriver, native of New Zealand, medium build, fresh complexion, fair hair, blue eyes, broken nose; dressed in blue suit. He is now supposed to be employed in a flax-mill, and was seen in Palmerston North about the Ist February last. On the 15th January last he was in arrears the sum of £55 10s. Wellington. —lsth instant, on warrant for failing to provide for the future maintenance of his unborn illegitimate child, James Moulton Burgess, age thirty, height 5 ft. 7 in., plasterer and traveller, medium build, fair complexion, dark-brown hair, clean-shaved, hair inclined to curl over forehead, false teeth set with gold; dressed in blue sac suit, and generally wears a black hard hat. He was a member of the Bth Contingent, and has been recently travelling for Mr. Ayers, Chemist, Wellington. Photograph filed in the Inspector’s Office, Wellington. Christchurch. —26th ultimo, on warrant for disobeying an order of the Court for the maintenance of his wife, Ethel Maud Thompson, Linwood, Phillip Thompson, age thirty-six, height 5 ft. 6 in., telephone lineman, native of England, medium build, dark-brown hair, large blue eyes, sharp clean-cut regular features, moustache only, inclined to be sandy, waddles slightly when walking, tattoo-mark on one forearm. On the 26th ultimo he was £2 ss. in arrears.

Dunedin. —7th instant, that he may be compelled to provide for the maintenance of his children in the industrial school, Charles Bast, age forty-one, height 5 ft. 5 in., labourer, native of England, fresh complexion, brown, hair, grey eyes, large Roman nose, bald on top of head. Dunedin. —2nd instant, on warrant for theft of a silver watch (recovered), value £3, property of James Francis Pendergast, labourer, West (name probably fictitious), age about thirty, height 5 ft. 8 in., medium build, dark complexion and hair, dark moustache only, long features, dressed in dark suit. Offender took the watch from complainant’s bedroom, and pledged it at Jacob’s Pawn-office.

Dunedin. —2Bth December last, on warrant for deserting the s.s. “ Waiwera,” W. F. Carter, age twenty-two, height 5 ft. 8 in., trimmer, native of England, slight build, fair hair, yellow complexion, hollow chest, very slight fair moustache, large scar on top of head.
