PERSONS WANTED.

Auckland. —9th January last, on warrant for failing to provide for the maintenance of his illegitimate child, Sidney Richardson, alias Dobbs, age twenty-two, height 5 ft. 5 in., soap-boiler, native of New Zealand, short stout build, fair complexion, blue eyes, fair hair, large curly fringe on forehead ; usually wears blue suit and cap.

Huntly. —About 17th January last, on warrant for theft of a four-year-old bay pony gelding, 14 hands high, dark points, no visible brands, small white star on forehead, small white spot on nose, mane cropped short, square-cut tail, no shoes, value £5, property of Walter Henry Jury, flax miller, a Native named Tom, age about eighteen, height about 5 ft. 7 in., fairly stout build, and rather darker complexion than ordinary Maori; dressed in dungaree trousers, old black coat, and new white straw hat. Parents are said to reside at Whangarei. The horse broke out of complainant’s paddock, and was secured in an adjoining farm. Offender represented he was sent for the horse, and rode him away.

Waverley. —l7th December last, on warrant of commitment to Wanganui Gaol for fourteen days in default of paying £1 10s. fine and costs for pasting notice on telegraphpole, Ernest Simmonds, age about twenty-five, height 5 ft. 8 in. or 9 in., advance agent for Hazel’s Kine-

matograph, slim build, clean-shaved, pale complexion, long black hair; dressed in light-grey suit and light Dr. Jim hat.

Feilding. —l3th ultimo, on warrant for theft of a gig with dark-green varnished body, carmine wheels and shafts, a new lamp-socket on off side, value £2B, and a set of silvermounted gig-harness, value £7 10s., property of Frederick Flavell, stablekeeper, Man, name unknown, age about eighteen, height about 5 ft. 7 in., labourer, supposed native of New Zealand, sallow complexion. He arrived at Flavell’s stables on above date riding Signall Bros, stolen horse, and hired the above gig and harness and put the stolen horse into the gig and drove away, leaving Signall Bros, saddle and bridle at the stable. Otaki.— l7th ultimo, on warrants for having opium in their possession, Quong Hing (or Wong Hing) and Chow Shee. First, age about fifty, height 5 ft. 7 in., market-gardener, large prominent teeth, hollow chest, speaks imperfect English, smokes cigarettes; usually wears faded blue coat and soft hat; was last seen at the Lower Hutt. Second, age about thirty-eight, height 5 ft. 7 in., marketgardener, clean-shaved ; wears a light-grey suit, skull cap, and brown slippers.

Otaki. — 18th ultimo, on warrants for having opium in their possession, Ah Lunn and Lee Long. First, age about forty, height 5 ft. 6 in., market-gardener, prominent cheek-bones, broad face, sullen appearance ; usually wears dark-tweed suit (trousers generally turned up at the bottoms) and soft hat. Second, age about forty-eight, height 5 ft. 6 in. or 7 in., market-gardener, hair turning grey ; was last seen at Palmerston North on 25th ultimo ; he was then wearing a black Suit and soft hat.

Wellington. ling him to contribute towards the support of his children in the Receiving Home, Andrew Williams, age fortyeight, height 5 ft. 9 in., French-polisher, supposed colonial, medium build, brown curly hair, full flushed face, full round eyes, fond of drink. Wellington. —2Bth ultimo, that a warrant of distress for £36 17s. 6d. may be executed, James Jamieson, age forty-five, height 5 ft. 7 in., wharf labourer and seaman, native of Shetland Islands, dark complexion, dark-brown hair, brown eyes, large nose. (See Police Gazette, 1906, page 430.) Offender was ordered to pay 2s. 6d. each for the maintenance of his two children in St. Joseph’s Receiving Home, and is now in arrears the above amount,

Wellington. —4th ultimo, on warrant for disobeying an order of Court to pay 7s. 6d. a week towards the support of his illegitimate child, William Klein, age forty-two, height 5 ft. 10 in., seaman and labourer, native of Germany, medium build, fresh complexion, brown hair, grey eyes, slight brown moustache, slightly bald. On the 4th ultimo he was in arrears £4 7s. fid. (See Police Gazette, 1004, page 261, and 1905, page 13.)

Rakaia. —4th instant, that a copy of notice of fine and costs for £5 10s. may be served on him for supplying a prohibited person with liquor, William Manders, age forty, height 5 ft. 61 in., labourer and bricklayer, native of England, fair complexion, dark-brown hair, blue eyes, long nose, cleanshaved except brown moustache ; dressed in shabby brown coat, dark-grey trousers and cap. Was last seen on Bth ultimo at Rakaia, carrying a swag.

Waimate. —4th instant, on warrant for failing to provide for the maintenance of his illegitimate child, Patrick Glynan, age thirty, height 5 ft. 10 in., labourer, native of New Zealand, stout build, sandy hair inclined to curl, bald on top of head, clean-shaved except fair moustache, fresh complexion, blue eyes, pug nose, large ears ; generally wears dark clothes and hard black hat.

Ditnedin. —2Bth December last, on warrant for deserting the s.s. “Waiwera,” W. F. Carter, age twenty-two, height 5 ft. 8 in., trimmer, native of England, slight build, fair hair, yellow complexion, hollow chest, very slight fair moustache, large scar on top of head. Offender is consumptive, and an undesirable immigrant. (See Police Gazette, 1907, page 64, where name erroneously appears as CarYer.)

Dunedin.— 2nd instant, that she may be compelled to support her child, an inmate of Caversham Industrial School. Ella Rolfe, age about thirty-six, height about 5 ft. 7 in. or 8 in., domestic servant, slight build, reddish hair, blue eyes, no teeth ; generally dresses in grey. Was last seen about two years ago in Dunedin.

Dunedin.— sth instant, on warrant for deserting his wife, Clara Peat, at Dunedin, George Peat, age thirty-nine, looks older, height 5 ft. 8 in., baker, native of England, stout build, very fair hair and complexion, clean-shaved except fair moustache, small scar on bridge of nose, large scar on one foot; dressed in green-coloured coat and vest.
