Huntly. —Between 7th and 9th instant, from the tent of ANDREW CHARLES BEER, carpenter, a very old violin and bow, made of light-coloured wood on back, dark on front, “ Antonius Stractivarius Cermonius Faceibt, anno 1764,” on inside of violin ; value, £ls. Identifiable.

Gisborne. —3rd instant, from a paddock, the property of GEORGE SMITH, fruiterer, a chestnut gelding, three years old, 15 hands high, no brands, blemish on near forefetlock, value £25 ; an English hunting-saddle, value £3 10s.; and a 6 ft. by 8 ft. tent, value 10s. Suspicion attached to Harry Arnold, age twenty, height 5 ft. 7 in., labourer, native of New Zealand, thin active build, fair hair and complexion, blue eyes, clean - shaved, pimples on face, nose inclined to pug ; dressed in dark-brown tweed suit, brown soft-felt hat or cap. Has friends residing in Onehunga.

Stolen from a blacksmith’s shop in Eltham, and ridden away, by a man about fifty years of age, 5 ft. 8 in. high, rather stout build, black hair turning grey, beard, whiskers, and moustache same colour, beard and whiskers cropped to point at chin; dressed in dark suit, dark overcoat, white straw hat crushed on crown with black band. Rode through Waverley on 12th instant.

CA CD WELL, Fendalton Road, a large gold old-fashioned art brooch, surrounded by forget-me-nots in gold, one flower broken off, a large leaf in centre which lifts up, and is set with one or two rubies and two or three pearls, space for two photographs, value £6 ; a ladies’ silver hunt-ing-watch, “ W.A.C.” on outside of case, and “ William A. Caldwell ” on inside of case, value £2 ; a small gold pin with greenstone cross attached, value ss. Identifiable.
